I was refused the Freestyle Libre. My doctor gave me a
prescription, but the company said no, because I am not insulin
dependent. I have low sugar.

Twitterific

2019-11-11 Thread terri elliott
Hi. What happened to the twitterific app? I can’t read anyone’s tweets as I
was able too before I updated to this last version of the phone. Now all it
says is Nole and after that it has the date the message was tweeted. This
stinks out loud. Can’t read people’s messages now like I could do before.

RE: Glucose meters with voiceover

2019-11-11 Thread Brian K. Lingard
Dear pegkane52 & List:
So, you also have difficulty getting the blood drop on the test strip! I have
so much trouble my Doctor approved me for the Libra Free style Continuous
Glucose Monitoring Device I am Insulin Dependent. Works OK but I am having to
wait a while for an appointment to get the sensor attached to my upper arm.
Seems NY Doctor's office is particularly busy lately. Come to think of it, I
have not been asked to consent to a Flu Shot at Dialysis, they usually do the
shots early to cover early Flu.

I am one of the few blinks who use a Mobility Cane and a wheelchair. Guess I
would need to sign up for Blue Cross for visitors to the U. S. if I want to
visit friends there. No idea what U. S. dialysis centers charge visitors.

It’s really funny, when I first became a type two diabetic, the doctor asked me
would I test and I said yes he said how many times I said I don’t know maybe
once he didn’t even think I would test it all and I find it very difficult to
get that blood on the strip. I think somebody should come up with a better
invention.
Take care.

2019-11-11 Thread Mary Otten
Hi Mark,
Frankly, I personally could care less about this. What I care far more about is
the fact that, despite me and I know a few other people riding to audible and
asking them to restore the actions rotor so the deleting items is much easier
like it used to be, they insist on not doing it. So I would ask you to please
join me in asking audible to allow use of the action rotor invoice over to
easily delete items from one’s device. The present system is needlessly
complicated.

Please Join Me in Requesting that the Developers of the Audible for iOS / iPad OS App Add a Playback Sound Equalizer Feature

2019-11-11 Thread M. Taylor
Hello All,

Please join me in requesting that the developers of the Audible for iOS /
iPad OS app add a playback sound equalizer feature so that one can adjust
the bass, mid-range, and treble frequencies, independently. A similar
feature exists in the BARD Mobile app.

They have indicated that if they receive enough requests, they will
implement the feature.

You may contact them via Twitter at AudibleSupport, by leaving a request
review in the app store or by your preferred method of contact.

As always your support is greatly appreciated.

You can get these most places where electronics are sold, Amazon, Best Buy,
Walmart, Target etc.

Walmart is expensive at $72.06

Best Buy seems to be next with $61.99

Amazon seems to be the least expensive by a little at $60.99

Ed also mentioned you can get them on eBay for $49.99, but I didn’t check and
whenever I tried to look them up on Target it redirected me to some
international site which told me that I can now order from Target in Canada via
some other company, I think it was called “Borderfree”, but it seems they might
be $65.99 at Target which means Amazon or Best Buy are still your best options.

Sieghard

Hi Richard,

Question 1:You can take the side cover off and replace the battery. The
batteries that come with them last a long time. I have had some last three or
four years and I use my headsets every day.

Question 2:they have sound coming out both left and right I believe in
Stereo.

Question 3:the band goes on top of the head. They are nice and light as
I have worn them for eight to ten hours a day.

Also I wear hearing aids and they sit on top of my hearing aids just fine. Nice
soft pads. They sit on the ear. They are not the cup kind wear your ear goes
inside.

If you have any other questions please feel free to asked.

Mr. Ed

Hi Mr. Ed,

I did not find anything about replacing the battery?

Also, are these stereo or single ear?

Lastly, do they wrap around the back of the head or over the top if stereo?

I have many sets of the Logitech H800 they are very good sounding They have no
Bluetooth lagging with VO as far as I can tell. I have used them for many
years. They are very light and comfortable. You can use them on the computer
with the mini dongle or you can Bluetooth them to a computer or iPhone. I do
both. I also use them for Facetime and talking on my IPhone. The battery I
think last about five or six hours. I have put a bigger battery 320 amp and it
last for eight to nine hours I think as I have never timed it.

You can get them on ebay or Amazon. They also fold up for easy traveling.

RE: Bluetooth headphones

2019-11-11 Thread Richard Turner
Carolyn,
They come with a very small USB dongle that transmit the audio to the
headphones over a specific Radio Frequency; at least I believe that is what RF
stands for.
So, you could pair them via Bluetooth with the computer instead of the phone,
but they are designed to pair with the phone via Bluetooth and the computer via
the USB dongle.
In the box, the little USB dongle was tightly in the middle of the plastic that
the headphones sit in, inside the box.
But, there is a cover on the left earpiece that you can turn about an eighth of
a turn and remove, and there is a spot in there to store the USB dongle when
not in use.
The cover has a dot on it that is tactile, and one on the rim of the opening
that is also tactile. If you line them up, the cover can come off, or you line
them up when putting it back on and then turn it clockwise about an eighth of a
turn or less and it locks into place.
I like them very much and seem to be getting at least 5 or 6 hours out of a
charge in the first couple of days.

Walmart does carry them, but they charge $72, while Amazon and Best Buy are
60.99 and 61.99 respectively.
Here is the Walmart link:
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Logitech-H800-Wireless-Headset/17803212

I think Mr. Ed said Ebay was even less.
I bought mine at Best buy because there is a store close by.

RE: Bluetooth headphones

2019-11-11 Thread Mr. Ed
Hi Carolyn,
To have them work on your computer all you have to do is plug the little Nano
that comes with them into your usb on your computer. Then all you have to do is
push the switch on the headset all the way to the top and it will connect to
your computer wirelessly. That is all there is to it to connect it to your
computer.

I use the Sennheiser 4.40 BT HD. They are over the head and around the ear kind
of Bluetooth headset. You can connect to the desktop via either Bluetooth or
using the 3.5 wire jack that comes with them. Because they are so large the
batteries last over fifteen hours. Thy can support up to eight connections,
however, I have not figured out how to switch from one connection to the next.

Marie,
Thanks for the instructions.
That will save me some time with trying to scan or find the manual online.
They claim a frequency range of 31 to 15,000 hertz .
That should be fine for most music unless it has orchestra then you will likely
miss out on the high frequencies.

Personally, I'm mostly interested in them for books, Email, etc.
I have really good wired headphones for music listening, so I'm hoping these
will do the trick for me.

These do go over the head and are quite comfortable. The sound is decent but in
my opinion, not the best for music. But you can use the USB dongle for use with
the computer and have it paired via

blue tooth to your iPhone. If you are on the computer and your phone rings, you
just slide the switch from USB to BT. A little heads up, the dongle is inside
the cover on the left earpiece.
Here are some really good instruction I got from Mike B:

Device selection switch, located at the rear of the right ear piece.
When you have the headset on, the device selection switch on the right ear can
be slid to its bottom setting for off, the middle setting for Bluetooth, and
the top setting for RF with the dongle / receiver plugged into the computer.

Volume up, located at 12:00 on the face of the right ear piece.

Volume down, located at 6:00 on the face of the right ear piece.

Microphone mute, located at 9:00 on the face of the right ear piece.
The mute button mutes all sound input to the headset when playing music.
The mute button mutes the boom microphone when on the phone.

Play/pause or Answer call/end call, located at 3:00 on the face of the right
ear piece.

Next track/Fast Forward, located at the bottom of the right ear piece between
the USB port and the power/device selection switch.
Press the button down towards the charging port for, Next Track / Fast Forward.

Previous track/Rewind, located at the bottom of the right ear piece between the
USB port and the power/device selection switch.
Press the button up towards the device selection switch for, Previous Track /
Rewind.

To put into pairing mode:
press the next toggle button on the bottom and the volume up button at the same
time for around 7 seconds. On an I device be in BT setting and you will see the
headset so double tap on it and it should pair easily.
HTH, Marie

RE: Bluetooth headphones

2019-11-11 Thread Carolyn
How do you pair it to the computer? Where do you go to do that? It would be
nice if a set served for the computer and for the phone.

Cheers,

Cris

I also have the H800, I use them mostly for my laptop with the USB dongle and I
find them comfortable, but for such a relatively big set of headsets I wish
they would have put in a bit of a bigger battery. I think they get 6 or 8 hours.

Marie,
Thanks for the instructions.

HTH, Marie

Hi Richard,
I have many sets of the Logitech H800 they are very good sounding They have no
Bluetooth lagging with VO as far as I can tell.

She just wants some cheap ones, but with reasonable sound. We bought some off
amazon but they cause her voiceover to lag loads.
Does anyone know any that work with the speech without lagging.

Okay, in the latest release of Twitter for iOS, in version 13.x, anyway, a

RE: Bluetooth headphones

2019-11-11 Thread Mr. Ed
Hi Richard,

The easiest way I have found to do this is to move the switch all the way up
and then I move it down to the middle. When I try and move it from the off
position to the middle position it is hard to stop right on the middle
position. So again I move the switch to the top then use my finger nail to move
it down to the middle position as tis usually works every time for me.

Let me know if this worked better for you.

Mr. Ed,

Do you ever find that when you slide the switch to Bluetooth, nothing happens?

A couple of times in the two days I’ve had them, I have had to turn them off
and on a couple times before the Bluetooth beep would sound and they would
connect.

I sat there for 30 to 40 seconds with nothing happening.

can get from 10 to 12 hours. I do still like these headset very much as you can
go from computer to iPhone very easy. Also they don’t have an lag when using my
iPhone. Of course I don’t listen to music so I can’t comment on that. I think
these are a great headset for the money as you can do the iPhone, computer and
connect to phone calls. I use mine also for listening to audio books. Again I
don’t think you can compare these to a pair of headset that cost hundreds of
dollars as these a quite inexpensive for what they do.

While I agree they are fairly comfortable, I wouldn't go as far as to say you
don't know you have them on. They are still a reasonably large headset with a
broad band over the top of your head and I certainly have no problems telling
whether I have them or not. But we have to be patient with Ed, he is pretty

Hi,

They are not the big over the ear cup style. The pad on the side of them is
about 3 inches around and they sit on top of the ear. Yes you can hear other
things around. I like this style because they sit on top of my hearing aids and
they are very light weight. When you have them on you don't even know you have
them on.

That is not usually something I experienced. As ed says, the switch could be
better, but so far it has done its job, but I think it might be not so
difficult to push it not all the way. If this is a consistent issue I’d return
them and get another pair.

Mr. Ed,
Do you ever find that when you slide the switch to Bluetooth, nothing happens?

A couple of times in the two days I’ve had them, I have had to turn them off
and on a couple times before the Bluetooth beep would sound and they would
connect.
I sat there for 30 to 40 seconds with nothing happening.

I am having no difficulty adding items to the UberEats cart at Applebees but
when I DT the "place order" button it just says "ordering". It is as if the
order doesn't complete. It used to complete the order and give you an idea when
it would arrive etc. It is showing the items still in my cart. I turned my
phone on, I closed the app, checked my account information which is
correct, and took out the items I ordered from the cart and replaced them again
and I still get the same result. If anyone can help, I would appreciate any
assistance. Does this have to do with a recent update of the app or an
interaction with IOS13?

RE: Bluetooth headphones

2019-11-11 Thread Richard Turner
Mr. Ed,
Do you ever find that when you slide the switch to Bluetooth, nothing happens?

A couple of times in the two days I’ve had them, I have had to turn them off
and on a couple times before the Bluetooth beep would sound and they would
connect.
I sat there for 30 to 40 seconds with nothing happening.

go from computer to iPhone very easy. Also they don’t have an lag when using my

these are a great headset for the money as you can do the iPhone, computer and

don’t think you can compare these to a pair of headset that cost hundreds of

Hi,

They are not the big over the ear cup style. The pad on the side of them is

Play/pause or Answer call/end call, located at 3:00

Re: Glucose meters with voiceover

2019-11-11 Thread Ed Worrell
The Glucose monitor your looking for is the DexCom G5 or G6 system. The G6
connects to your iPhone via bluetooth and sends blood sugar readings to a
dedicated application on your iPhone every 5 minutes. This app will also send
out alerts when your blood sugar is to low/high, raising/dropping to quickly.

I would be happy to answer anymore questions you may have on it.

I normally end up doing the wear one at a time thing because of the
battery life. It kind of drives me nuts, I think I will glad a pair of
the over the ear beats that just came out at some point. Then again
the Bose might be a better choice, will do some testing. Anyways if
the batteries in the Airpods Pro are the same they are not all that
useful to me. Maybe in a few years we can get at least 10 hours.

Re: I updated spotify and now can't read daly mix descriptions

2019-11-11 Thread Mama Peach
I tried Spotify the other day and I can not get it to read anything. I did a
search and can't read any of it. Very disappointing as when I used Spotify
earlier this year, it worked perfectly for me. I need it for a party that I
will be having, but I guess I will stick to Amazon Music for the songs that
I need.

part of the update. As the subject line says, in my "made for Shermeen
K" heading, I can see my daily mixes listed, but it used to say
something like "daily mix 1: Sela, Andrew Peterson, Audry assad and
more. Daily mix 2: The Monteberity Singers, choir of kings college,
and more. and now it's not saying any of those types of descriptions,
just daily mix 1, daily mix 2, daily mix 3, etc. which doesn't tell me
anything useful. Is anyone else having this problem?

Thanks very much,

Hi again all,

Can anyone else replicate this problem? I am trying to figure out if
this is specific to me, my device, version of IOS, etc.

Re: airpods pro and automatic switch to iphone when paired with pc

2019-11-11 Thread Shai
Thank you all for replies on this thread.
A forum post I read suggested a work around whereby one could leave an
airpod in the case pair it to device a and then place the second
airpod in the case to be paired to device b.
Can anyone confirm if this works?
Thank you in advance.

Re: AirPods pro strange phone call!

2019-11-11 Thread 'Harry Bell' via VIPhone
Yes, Siri must have heard what I said to my guide dog and interpreted it as a
phone call request. Mind you, when I ask Siri to play Radio 4 here in the UK,
some days she will comply and other days she will insist on playing Tempo FM.
Perhaps the same gremlins in action?

I agree. I have a plantronics edge and Trekx Titanium which are both multi
point and they are not exactly what I call seamless in the switching. While
it works well most of the time there are definitely hiccups now and then.
And the Trekx was over $100.
While Iwish the Air Pods would switch automatically, it is not all that
essential to me. Afterall, if I am listening to a book on my IPod and get a

Both Siri and dictation work much better when using the Air pods than with
any other BT headset I have ever used and even better than the wired Apple
ear buds.
And by the way, there is very little difference in battery life between the

I resisted them until the second generation and have not regretted the

I think the feature you're looking for is called multipoint. Make sure
you check for it when buying headphones since not all $50 headphones
have this feature.

Hello,
Is there a means to have airpods pro automatically switch from a pc
running Windows10 to iphone when say a call comes in? I tried these for a
time and paired them to my pc, but I could not get it to switch.
I also noticed that it did not automatically reconnect when pc resumed
from standby.

Thank you in advance for any responses.

I am not sure how anybody could pocket dial somebody with an iPhone unless they
leave their device unlocked and with the Phone app open on either the
Favourites or Recents tab. Even then something conductive which most clothing
is not, needs to press on the touch screen. I have owned iPhones for almost 10

More likely maybe SIRI somehow got activated and it thought maybe it heard

Hi everyone,

Remember that you can also do a four-finger flick left or right to switch
between open apps. This can be a really easy way to return to your previous app.

Best,

Hello,
Is there a means to have airpods pro automatically switch from a pc running
Windows10 to iphone when say a call comes in? I tried these for a time and
paired them to my pc, but I could not get it to switch.
I also noticed that it did not automatically reconnect when pc resumed from
standby.
Thank you in advance for any responses.

There should be 2 speakers on the XR, one at the bottom of the phone
near the charging port, and one at the top of the phone near the
handset/speaker. I know you know that the one where you hold the phone
near your ear, but this also acts as an external speaker. You can test
it by completely covering the bottom speaker when music or other audio
is playing, and see if you still hear the audio. On my XR the bottom
speaker is more powerful, but I still get quite a bit of sound from
the other speaker when I cover the bottom one.

Dave,
Yes, I agree with you when you say that shouldn't be the case, but what
other reason why they would say that top front speaker is only for when
talking on the phone.

That shouldn't be the case. As the speakers are the same for sighted users
too, if they wish to listen to music in stereo, on their phone, without a
headset.

Dave.

Hi Dave,
Oh yeah, I know what you mean about how much the reps know about the
products they sell. Although, I have to admit I am quite surprised
especially both reps had xr phones the same as I do. Matter of fact, the
Apple rep at the store yesterday, didn't even check the ear piece speaker!
I'm just wondering if it is because maybe they aren't using voice over, so
they just really don't know voice over and other come through the front ear
speaker. Well, I finally turned on my phone, and listened to voice over and
some music, and low in behold, I did hear voice over and the music I was
playing coming from the bottom of the phone, as well as from the front ear
speaker on the top of the phone, so now, I know for myself! I can't believe
I never thought of something this simple! LOL! I'm losing it!
Thank you Thank you!

Janet

Hi Janet. It just shows, how much some of the customer services reps
actually know, regarding the products they sell.

But there is loads of info regarding this, on the net, and youtube.

Dave.

Hi Dave,
The rep at the Apple store and the rep from the accessibility department
told me that speaker on the front of the phone has nothing to do with
hearing voice over or music, just for talking on the phone. I don't know
why, but I never even thought about listening to the front speaker when
playing music, but I will now do it.

No. The earpiece, is also a speaker. The phone is stereo, and you could not
achieve this, with just 1 speaker.

Dave.

Hi Everyone,
Can someone please tell me just how many speakers there are on an xr phone?
I know all about the speaker on the front of the phone I hold to my ear to
listen when I am on the phone, but what I am talking about is the speakers
on the bottom of the phone between the charging port.
Thank you all.
Janet

Peace Be With You.
