Re: Bookshare on the iPhone?

2020-02-24 Thread Joshua Hendrickson
Hi Rebecca. You should purchase the voice dream reader app for $15.
This will quickly become the best $15 you've ever spent. Voice dream
reader allows you not only to listen to bookshare books, but audio
books as well. You can also read other Ebook formats like .txt, or
.epub and also .PDF to name just a few formats. You can use the IOS
voices to listen to your Bookshare titles, or you can purchase
additional high quality voices like those from Acapela, Ivona, or
Neospeech for only $5 per voice. I have a few bookshare books on my
iPhone, but I've been reading some Ebooks in .txt format, and this
works beautifully with the Voice Dream reader app.

Richard,

Most of the Microsoft apps in the IOs app store are office 365 products,

Yes word excel & powerpoint are the basic package although individual apps for
phone and iPad.

But there are a number of others including outlook, sway, and a truckload of
others.so it depends on what app it was that had the redownload beside it.

Here is the description from the app store. It combines all of them into this
one app.

The Office app combines the Word, Excel, and PowerPoint apps you know and rely
on with new capabilities that harness the unique strengths of a phone to create
a simpler, yet more powerful Office experience on the go. Whether using it for
personal or professional reasons, the Office app is designed to be your go-to
app for getting work done on a mobile device. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
combined in one app: • The most widely used tools for working with documents,
spreadsheets, and presentations, all from a single app. • Create, edit, and
work together on Office documents with others in real-time. • Use templates to
easily get started with your resume, budget, presentations, and other
documents. • Easily store, access and search for Word, Excel, PowerPoint files
stored in your personal cloud storage, on your device, or across your
organization (if using a work account). Uniquely mobile ways that make document
creation easier: • Snap a picture of a document and turn it into an editable
Word file with the press of a button. • Transform a picture of a table into an
Excel spreadsheet so you can work with the data. • Let PowerPoint help you
design a presentation by simply selecting the pictures you want to use from
your phone. • Create automatically enhanced digital images of whiteboards and
documents with Office Lens features integrated into the app. Quickly perform
common mobile tasks with built-in Actions: • Instantly create PDFs from photos
or Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents. • Easily transfer files between your
phone and computer. • Sign PDFs using your finger. • Quickly jot down ideas
and notes with Sticky Notes. • Scan QR codes to open links. Anyone can download
the Office app for free and start using it right away. Access and save
documents to the cloud by connecting with a Microsoft Account (for OneDrive or
SharePoint) or by connecting to a third-party cloud storage provider. Logging
in with a personal, work, or school Microsoft Account connected to an Office
365 subscription will unlock premium features within the app. Subscription &
Privacy Disclaimer Unlock the full Microsoft Office experience with a
qualifying Office 365 subscription for your phone, tablet, PC and Mac. Monthly
Office 365 subscriptions purchased from the app will be charged to your App

RE: Flicktype

2020-02-24 Thread Alan Lemly
Joe,

I'll do my best to answer your first question about FlickType punctuation. You
should know that I use FlickType in full screen mode when typing with it and
then revert to the iOS standard keyboard. If I'm typing a phrase that ends with
a comma as I did just now, I'd swipe once to put a period after the word now
and then single finger swipe down to select comma from the choices presented by
FlickType. After FlickType says comma, you then just continue typing.

As I stated, I use FlickType in full screen mode so when I'm composing a text,
I start out with the standard iOS on screen keyboard and go first to the
message text box and select FlickType from the keyboard button to the left of
the spacebar. I then compose my text message using FlickType's full screen mode
and when I'm done, I single finger slide up the screen and stop to change back
to the standard iOS keyboard where the text I typed with FlickType is placed in
the message text box. I then single finger swipe right once and land on the
send button. I'm not sure how my method differs but perhaps you've got
FlickType set to other than full screen mode. I prefer leaving my iPhone set to
the standard iOS on screen keyboard and moving to FlickType full screen when I
need to type something.

As to your final question, I leave my keyboard set to the standard iOS on
screen keyboard and use the button to the left of the spacebar to switch to
FlickType as needed. I then use the single finger slide up and hold to revert
back to the standard iOS keyboard. I don't know whether this method is more
cohesive but it works for me. You might consider subscribing to the FlickType
email list by sending a blank email to flicktype+subscr...@groups.io if you
have other questions.

Hello,

Flicktype is a wonderful app. My typing dramatically increases when I use it,
but there are a few things I cannot seem to get the hang of even after
reviewing their website. I'm hoping you can help me out.

First, how can I more easily insert punctuation other than a period? I know I
can swipe right twice and then swipe down to see a list of additional
punctuation, but if I want to select a comma, I don't know how to select this
without swiping right and inserting another period.

Second, is there a seamless way of finding the Send button after typing out a
text message? I feel as though I get lost in the Flicktype sphere, and in the
process of finding the Send button I wind up adding random characters to the
end of my message.

Finally, the only way I know of to change keyboards is to tap the keyboard icon
at the bottom of the keyboard and slide up to hear the other available
keyboards. Is this the only method, or is there something more cohesive?

Thank you for any help.

Joe

There is a way to filter messages between those from contacts and those
which are spam. I have this turned on, and in theory, it should send those
dreaded spam messages into a separate list. I thought there was a way to
mark a message as spam, and have it then go into that spam messages list,
but I don't recall how to do so. There should also be a spam forwarding
address from your carrier which you can forward those spam messages to. I
get those group spams as well, and the best solution for now is to block the
original sender of the message. If you want to invest a bit more time, you
can get the AT Call Protect app and report messages as spam, presuming you
are on AT Other carriers probably have ways you can report spam texts to
them.

Good luck,

Re: Question about outlook and iCloud

2020-02-24 Thread PRAMIT BHARGAVA
Hello Rena,

To sync your iphone contacts with Outlook follow the steps below

1. Close Outlook.
2. Open iCloud for Windows.
3. Deselect the Mail, Contacts, Calendars & Tasks checkbox and click Apply.
4. Wait a few seconds. Select Mail, Contacts, Calendars & Tasks, and click
Apply.
5. Open Outlook.

Also Make sure that the iCloud Outlook Add-in is on
The iCloud Outlook Add-in transfers your content between iCloud and
Outlook. Follow these steps in Outlook 2010 and later to check and turn on
the Add-in:

1. Select the File menu.
2. From the left panel select Options.
3. Now from the left panel select Add-ins.
4. Look at the list of add-ins in the Active Application Add-ins section.
If the iCloud Add-in is listed under Inactive or Disabled Add-ins, make
sure that Com Add-ins is selected in the drop-down menu next to Manage at
the bottom of the window. Then select Go.
5. Select the iCloud Outlook Add-in checkbox, then select OK.
6. Restart Outlook.

Hope this helps

Richard,

Most of the Microsoft apps in the IOs app store are office 365 products,

Yes word excel & powerpoint are the basic package although individual
apps for phone and iPad.

But there are a number of others including outlook, sway, and a
truckload of others.so it  depends on what app it was that had the
redownload beside it.

Here is the description from the app store. It combines all of them
into this one app.

The Office app combines the Word, Excel, and PowerPoint apps you know
and rely on with new capabilities that harness the unique strengths of
a phone to create a simpler, yet more powerful Office experience on
the go. Whether using it for personal or professional reasons, the
Office app is designed to be your go-to app for getting work done on a
mobile device. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint combined in one app: • The
most widely used tools for working with documents, spreadsheets, and
presentations, all from a single app.  • Create, edit, and work
together on Office documents with others in real-time. • Use templates
to easily get started with your resume, budget, presentations, and
other documents.  • Easily store, access and search for Word, Excel,
PowerPoint files stored in your personal cloud storage, on your
device, or across your organization (if using a work account).
Uniquely mobile ways that make document creation easier: • Snap a
picture of a document and turn it into an editable Word file with the
press of a button. • Transform a picture of a table into an Excel
spreadsheet so you can work with the data. • Let PowerPoint help you
design a presentation by simply selecting the pictures you want to use
from your phone. • Create automatically enhanced digital images of
whiteboards and documents with Office Lens features integrated into
the app. Quickly perform common mobile tasks with built-in Actions: •
Instantly create PDFs from photos or Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
documents. • Easily transfer files between your phone and computer.  •
Sign PDFs using your finger. • Quickly jot down ideas and notes with
Sticky Notes. • Scan QR codes to open links. Anyone can download the
Office app for free and start using it right away. Access and save
documents to the cloud by connecting with a Microsoft Account (for
OneDrive or SharePoint) or by connecting to a third-party cloud
storage provider. Logging in with a personal, work, or school
Microsoft Account connected to an Office 365 subscription will unlock
premium features within the app. Subscription & Privacy Disclaimer
Unlock the full Microsoft Office experience with a qualifying Office
365 subscription for your phone, tablet, PC and Mac.  Monthly Office
365 subscriptions purchased from the app will be charged to your App
Store account and will automatically renew within 24 hours prior to
the end of the current subscription period unless auto-renewal is
disabled beforehand. You can manage your subscriptions in your App
Store account settings.  This app is provided by either Microsoft or a
third-party app publisher and is subject to a separate privacy
statement and terms and conditions. Data provided through the use of
this store and this app may be accessible to Microsoft or the

There is a way to filter messages between those from contacts and those which are spam.
I have this turned on, and in theory, it should send those dreaded spam messages into a
separate list. I thought there was a way to mark a message as spam, and have it then go
into that spam messages list, but I don't recall how to do so. There should also be a
spam forwarding address from your carrier which you can forward those spam messages to.
I get those group spams as well, and the best solution for now is to block the original
sender of the message. If you want to invest a bit more time, you can get the AT

RE: What's the difference between the Microsoft Office app and the previous separate apps comprising it?

2020-02-24 Thread Alan Lemly
Simon,

As I said in my original message, the app I searched for in the App Store was
Microsoft Office which came up at the top of the results list with a
re-download button next to it. Since I already have the separate Word, Excel,
and Powerpoint apps installed on my iPhone, I'm wondering what difference there
is between those separate apps and this apparently combined one. I don't have a
Microsoft Office 365 subscription nor do I intend to get one. Office 2010
Professional works just fine on my computer and I'm not interested in getting
on the Microsoft subscription train.

Hi allan,

It probably depends on what the app actually is,

Can you tell us what the name of the app is?

And there are a lot of Microsoft office 365 apps available for your iPhone the
main ones being word, excel and power point,

There is also outlook, sway, team, to do, a number of dynamic 365 apps,

So you need to provide the actual name.

Hi List,

Although I don't do much with Word or Excel on my iPhone, I've been keeping
them updated and noticed a couple of weeks ago that they had one of those major
app update descriptions where everything was supposedly improved and the look
and feel was substantially modified. I saw a post from another list where a
Microsoft Office app was mentioned so I just now searched for it in the App
Store and notice that the button to its right doesn't say get as usual but says
re-download. I've never downloaded this app but have only downloaded Word,
Excel, and PowerPoint. Does anyone know what is the difference between this
Office app and the separate components I already have on my iPhone?

Thanks in advance.

Try having your phone connected by the USB cable, then launch iTunes.
After it loads, tab a lot until you hear music, then the next button should be
iPhone.
Hit space or enter on that button.

I'll not voice my opinion of that post office ... but you may want to check

I do not have that link handy, but I believe he was going to work with them

I was a beta tester when he was designing the stand.

Another one that is pretty good, but $39.99 or so, is the one sold through

Re: Audio description on CBS all access using iPhone or Apple TV

2020-02-24 Thread Raul A. Gallegos
Hi, when you bring up the episode, you have to go into the Settings
button while the show is playing. Sometimes this means double tapping
the screen in an empty area so the player controls will come up. Once
you choose Settings, you will find the audio. On my iPad Pro, it's
labeled as English AD. Double tap that and now when you play the show,
it will be described. I have found that the setting sticks mostly,
however in case not, simply repeat the steps and it will work. In my
case, the setting reverted after 2 episodes, but putting it back was a
snap. I only wish that CBS would have done the same for the Amazon and
the Android apps considering that I have an Amazon Edition television
with my Sonos system and I also have a few Android devices.

Good luck.

Re: Can you block text messages?

2020-02-24 Thread Wayne Merritt
There is a way to filter messages between those from contacts and
those which are spam. I have this turned on, and in theory, it should
send those dreaded spam messages into a separate list. I thought there
was a way to mark a message as spam, and have it then go into that
spam messages list, but I don't recall how to do so. There should also
be a spam forwarding address from your carrier which you can forward
those spam messages to. I get those group spams as well, and the best
solution for now is to block the original sender of the message. If
you want to invest a bit more time, you can get the AT Call Protect
app and report messages as spam, presuming you are on AT Other
carriers probably have ways you can report spam texts to them.

Good luck,
Wayne

Flicktype

2020-02-24 Thread Joe Orozco
Hello,

Flicktype is a wonderful app. My typing dramatically increases when I
use it, but there are a few things I cannot seem to get the hang of
even after reviewing their website. I'm hoping you can help me out.

First, how can I more easily insert punctuation other than a period? I
know I can swipe right twice and then swipe down to see a list of
additional punctuation, but if I want to select a comma, I don't know
how to select this without swiping right and inserting another period.

Second, is there a seamless way of finding the Send button after
typing out a text message? I feel as though I get lost in the
Flicktype sphere, and in the process of finding the Send button I wind
up adding random characters to the end of my message.

Finally, the only way I know of to change keyboards is to tap the
keyboard icon at the bottom of the keyboard and slide up to hear the
other available keyboards. Is this the only method, or is there
something more cohesive?

Thank you for any help.

Joe

Store account and will automatically renew within 24 hours prior to the end of
the current subscription period unless auto-renewal is disabled beforehand. You
can manage your subscriptions in your App Store account settings. This app is
provided by either Microsoft or a third-party app publisher and is subject to a
separate privacy statement and terms and conditions. Data provided through the
use of this store and this app may be accessible to Microsoft or the

Re: Audio description on CBS all access using iPhone or Apple TV

2020-02-24 Thread Ed Worrell
Hello,

On the Apple TB: After you have started the video swipe down on the track pad
part of the remote assuming you are using a 4th Gen. or higher A-Tv. Swipe left
to the audio tab, then swipe down, you will have an option with AD after it.
Example: English AD. This is your audio description track.

On the iPhone or iPad: After the video is playing double tap with one finger to
bring up the play controls, find the media selection option and the AD track
should be in this menu. I am not seeing this on the show though. I am
subscribing to CBS All Access through the Apple TV Channels option in the A-Tv
app. This might be the difference. It might be there in the All Access stand
alone app.

You can also turn on the Audio Description option in iOS or TV OS In the OS
settings app.

I hope this helps a little bit.

RE: What's the difference between the Microsoft Office app and the previous separate apps comprising it?

2020-02-24 Thread Richard Turner
I did download it, but clearly I was not clear about that in my post with the
description, grin.
Your individual apps will work the same as always.
This one just exposes you to all the file types, minus Outlook, in one app.
I do not think the editing features are any more useful than in the stand alone
apps, but it is an interesting approach and at least for sighted folks who want
to edit and collaborate with others on Office files, it will be a welcome tool.

Re: Can you block text messages?

2020-02-24 Thread Georgie Mac
This process worked for me. I had sighted help and they said this is the
process. Blocking the person should also block the text and massages. So
far no more of those silly things on my phone. At least from the blocked
ones. My friend says they are fishing and looking for responses and if i
am unsure, just repeat he process. These people are relentless and may try
it again with another number just like when we all were getting those dumb
ass IRS calls threatening jail if we didn't pay. Hoping you have luck.

RE: Question about iPhone with focus 40 blue

2020-02-24 Thread Richard Turner
Which generation of Focus 40 is it?
Are they for sure pairing through the braille settings and not just the
Bluetooth setting?
The phone should be in lock or sleep mode when you turn on or off the braille
display to insure it connects correctly.

Hello,
What have you tried in order to fix this? Whenever I’ve had that hproblem, and
it’s been a while since I had it, a shutdown and restart of the phone has fixed
it. Perhaps turning off and then turning VoiceOver on, may not be sufficient to
solve it. It might have something to do with changing from a computer with USB
to the phone with BT, (or vice versa,) with the display being on all the time.

The other possibility I thought of would be that the braille display’s keyboard
could be locked, but AFAIK then none of its keys would work.

I was wondering if someone could tell me why a friends Focus 40 blue will not

Question about outlook and iCloud

2020-02-24 Thread Rena
Hello,

In windows 7 I had iCloud as a folder into outlook and I used it to sync my
iPhone contacts.
Now in windows 10 and outlook 365, although I installed iCloud, it is not in
outlook.
What can I do to have iCloud in outlook so I can sync my iPhone contacts? I
use jaws 20.

Hi List,

Although I don't do much with Word or Excel on my iPhone, I've been
keeping them updated and noticed a couple of weeks ago that they had
one of those major app update descriptions where everything was
supposedly improved and the look and feel was substantially modified.
I saw a post from another list where a Microsoft Office app was

re-download. I've never downloaded this app but have only downloaded
Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Does anyone know what is the difference
between this Office app and the separate components I already have on
my iPhone?

Thanks in advance.

2020-02-24 Thread Simon A Fogarty

Store account and will automatically renew within 24 hours prior to the end of
the current subscription period unless auto-renewal is disabled beforehand. You
can manage your subscriptions in your App Store account settings. This app is
provided by either Microsoft or a third-party app publisher and is subject to a
separate privacy statement and terms and conditions. Data provided through the
use of this store and this app may be accessible to Microsoft or the
third-party app publisher, as applicable, and transferred to, stored and

2020-02-24 Thread David Moore
Dice world works fine on my Android device. All messages go back and forth
our rules our desire to rematch an opponent an opponent all of that works
great on Android, so I wonder if it's the iPhone app? Take care
