So when you go into your iCloud under settings and your name, you should see
where it shows you everything that's using iCloud with the ability to toggle it
off. So you would turn it off and then go make the changes to your contact and
hit done. Then go turn the iCloud setting back on for contacts and it should
sync the correct stuff over to iCloud and hopefully make your contact the way
you want it.

I have not found Way Around to be a good solution because the tags
need to be ordered and they can be expensive when trying to label many
items.
More then that, at least, last time I checked, they were not a audio
labeler, they only allowed for you to enter text.  I find this very
limiting.

I’m hoping for a better labeling iPhone solution in the future.

One interesting app you can look at that is free is Navilense.  I hope
I spelled that correctly.  It was recommended to me as a free audio
labeling solution.  You print the labels yourself.  You can use the
sheets you purchased for Digit-Eyes.  They are a unique system
designed to work for the visually impaired.  I must admit they worked
very well for me.  They are designed for the phone to pick up the
label by the camera and do it easily, quickly and even from long
distances.

they just came out with a second pack of free labels.  So perhaps
this might be a good solution.

I’d love a NFC solution like Way Around to have an audio labeling
option and maybe an option for use of less expensive third party NFC
tags.

I hope this helps.  Try the Navilense app and let us know how it goes.

Hello,

I would recommend using WayAround tags for this. You can record the
contents of each box with a tag then duct tape or packing tape the
tag to the box. You record and read the tags using an iPhone or
Android phone. Note that the tags are completely reusable so you will
have them after you unpack all the boxes for any other tagging jobs.

To learn more about WayAround tags, check their web site at:
wayaround.com

WayAroundare currently hosting Zoom weekly sessions to introduce the

WayAround is currently offering a discount, 15% I think,  on their

order from WayAround or ATGuys in the U.S. In Canada, only Canadian
Assistive Technology sells the WayARound products.

I don't use these apps, but wouldn't a four finger tap at the bottom of the

I've noticed a lot in IOS 13 that when using apps like facebook messenger,
whatsapp, signal and telegram that when you open a conversation it usually
places you in the middle. So you have to use the three finger up to scroll to
the bottom where the most recent message would be. Is there a gesture for this
like going to the top when double tapping at the top of the screen? I use these
apps a lot, so it would be nice if there was a way to do this. I wish it worked
like it used to where you would be at the bottom any time you opened a
conversation.

Re: Need Help with Generating / Finding Audio Labels for Moving Boxes

2020-05-10 Thread Eric Caron
Hi Mark,

I totally feel your pain. I really like the Digit-Eyes app but have
not used it for years because I can’t get the audio labels to work reliably and
easily.

I have not found Way Around to be a good solution because the tags need
to be ordered and they can be expensive when trying to label many items.
More then that, at least, last time I checked, they were not a audio labeler,
they only allowed for you to enter text. I find this very limiting.

I’m hoping for a better labeling iPhone solution in the future.

One interesting app you can look at that is free is Navilense. I hope I
spelled that correctly. It was recommended to me as a free audio labeling
solution. You print the labels yourself. You can use the sheets you purchased
for Digit-Eyes. They are a unique system designed to work for the visually
impaired. I must admit they worked very well for me. They are designed for
the phone to pick up the label by the camera and do it easily, quickly and even
from long distances.

they just came out with a second pack of free labels. So perhaps this
might be a good solution.

I’d love a NFC solution like Way Around to have an audio labeling option and
maybe an option for use of less expensive third party NFC tags.

I hope this helps. Try the Navilense app and let us know how it goes.

Re: Need Help with Generating / Finding Audio Labels for Moving Boxes

2020-05-10 Thread Dave Clement
Hello,

I would recommend using WayAround tags for this. You can record the contents of
each box with a tag then duct tape or packing tape the tag to the box. You
record and read the tags using an iPhone or Android phone. Note that the tags
are completely reusable so you will have them after you unpack all the boxes
for any other tagging jobs.

To learn more about WayAround tags, check their web site at:
wayaround.com

WayAroundare currently hosting Zoom weekly sessions to introduce the tags and
provide tipson usage by others. The web site will lead you to these.

WayAround is currently offering a discount, 15% I think, on their tags. I
believe their dealers are also offering the discount. You can order from
WayAround or ATGuys in the U.S. In Canada, only Canadian Assistive Technology
sells the WayARound products.

i hope this helps,

Can one buy pre-printed barcodes that one could use with Digit Eyes? Or some

All replies greatly appreciated.

Need Help with Generating / Finding Audio Labels for Moving Boxes

2020-05-10 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Everyone,

I need to find a way to generate some barcode labels or, perhaps, purchase
some barcode labels that I can slap on moving boxes.

My first solution was to use the Digit Eyes app but, after trying for over
2-hours, with three different computers, Including Windows 7, Windows 10,
and Mac OS Catalina, and 2 different laser printers, and, after purchasing
the blank Avery labels the developer said I should get, I cannot get the
printed barcodes to line up correctly on the actual labels. I am extremely
disappointed in this aspect of the digit Eyes app for iOS. The funny thing
is that the test print pages for Digit Eyes line up perfectly. It is the
generated PDF document that, even on screen, are not centered correctly. I
was told by the developer that they now generate their barcodes via Google.
Whatever! I have wasted enough time with Digit Eyes with regard to
generating audio labels.

Does anyone know of another off-the-shelf solution?

Can one buy pre-printed barcodes that one could use with Digit Eyes? Or some
other way I can reliably label boxes in order to have my phone tell me the
contents of the box?

All replies greatly appreciated.

Mark

RE: All mail attachments double tapped are launching the Zoom app and Zoom website in Safari

2020-05-10 Thread Alan Lemly
Richard,

Thanks for letting me know I'm not the only one experiencing this strange
behavior. I tried the single finger triple tap on the attachment to open a
context menu but the choices offered were not great. I finally opted to try the
preview which is the only way I can see what's in the attachment without
launching Zoom. I reported this to Apple Accessibility and hope others will as
well.

Alan,

I'm so glad it isn't just me.

I think something with Safari and mail has gotten fouled up.

I have found a youtube video starting when trying to open a word attachment.

It is like instead of acting on the attachment, it is launching whatever was
last used in Safari.

Try a one finger triple tap on the attachment and see if you find an option
that doesn't launch Zoom, or Safari.

Hi List,

I'm looking for some guidance on how to stop executed attachments in the Mail
app from launching Zoom in Safari. I use the Zoom app often on my iPhone SE

executing a pdf file attachment should launch the Zoom app and the Zoom website
in Safari. Can someone suggest any steps I can take to correct this behavior? I
would think iOS has the ability to process the type of file that is attached
and launch an appropriate app which certainly is not Zoom.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Richard:

I would say it is not so busy, four or five appointments a day. What is
interesting in couple of months ago this was never an issue, it started to
happen with more recent app updates. It can take some time up to three to four
minutes before I am able to use the app, in fact, I can’t even exit it, so my
phone is frozen for this time. I reported the issue to the Outlook app team,
they suggested resetting the account, and if that doesn’t work to delete and
recreate the account but that did not fix it.

Cheers,

Facebook Videos on the phone

2020-05-10 Thread portillo.jim
Good morning,

If I'm on the Facebook app and am watching a live video that other people I
know may also be watching, is there a way of finding out who is watching? I
scroll through and see the number of viewers, and I can read some comments
that are being typed, but I didn't know if there was an actual list of
people or viewers.

Someone also told me that if one is actually hosting or doing a Facebook
live video, then he can see who is watching because he's the host.

Anyone have any ideas?

Jim

I tried to launch zoom from an email and it took me to Door Dash which was the

Re: iPad docking station set up?

2020-05-10 Thread Tali Sarnetzky
I've just remembered a friend who got a docking station for her iPad
from the sharper image back in the day, and it turned the iPad into a
screen of a laptop like setup. So you had the keyboard and USB ports,
while the tablet sat like the display, with access to the power button
and headphone jack.

Hello Mike,

I do not have my SE 2020 yet but with my fifth gen iPod in the dictation
fiield, I can say uppercase Y and a cap Y shows up in the edit field.

Hope this works,

I didn't ask about typing in the single letter confirmations that's only
obvious, I asked how people get around inserting the single letter
confirmations using dictation.

Take care. Mike. Sent from my iBarstool.

This old lady is not happy. I’m not old either!

Most of you know about my Voice Over issue. That’s okay now. I had to delete
and redownload Weather Gods which is working great but for one thing. I found
an option to activate but it didn’t say what would activate. Being the curious

Thanks everyone.

Re: Siri won’t launch apps

2020-05-10 Thread 'Harry Bell' via VIPhone
I have noticed that Siri does not know some apps by the name which appears on
the screen. For example, if I tell Siri to open Writer (which is the name
written on the screen icon), Siri opens RightHere. But if I say to open Voice
Dream Writer (the name VoiceOver and the App Store give the app), Siri does
open it. Perhaps something similar could be happening? Otherwise, it is
perplexing indeed
