RE: Where do I get the time remaining in a book with the latest version of the Audible app?

2020-07-16 Thread Alan Lemly
Hi Richard,

I did call Audible and got a very helpful support person. She told me the
remaining time was on the mini player which is near the bottom just above the
bottomline buttons which include Home, Library, etc. from left to right. I find
that swiping once to the right when focus is on the mini player play button
lands me on the book title which is announced followed by the current chapter
number and then the time remaining in the book. I'm pretty certain this
information used to be announced when in the full player mode but I might be
wrong about that.

I don’t find it anywhere.

There was a spot before I opened the mini player that said there were 11 hours
and 1 minutes left.

However, that number didn’t change after it had played for a couple of minutes.

When I opened the mini player, that info disappeared.

If it is there visually, then it will be worth writing them, or calling them.

It is probably worth writing or calling even if it isn’t there visually because
it should be.

Hi List,

I'm running the latest version of the Audible app on an iPhone SE 2020 running
iOS 13.6. I used to could double tap on the Audible mini player when a book was
playing and swiping around on the full player would announce the time remaining
in the book. I'm much more interested in the book remaining time than the time
remaining in a chapter which I really don't need. I updated the Audible app
yesterday and I'm no longer hearing the time remaining in the book and was
wondering if others using the app are experiencing the same thing. If you can
direct me as to how to get the time remaining, I'd love to hear how.

Thanks in advance.

Re: shopping for mobile plans

2020-07-16 Thread Richard Turner
Xfinity is great if you have their internet.
We were on Consumer cellular before Xfinity offered their plan.
Consumer cellular was quite affordable and very good customer service.
I suggest calling the various companies.
I know Consumer Cellular will give you all the details up front.
Verizon does have an accessibility department, so maybe they would be more
helpful.
I don't have much experience with anyone else.

I saved Alan Lemley's steps to transfer info from one iPhone to another but

Question 2. Does anyone have any strong opinion as to which M V N O gives the

RE: Where do I get the time remaining in a book with the latest version of the Audible app?

2020-07-16 Thread Richard Turner
I don't find it anywhere.
There was a spot before I opened the mini player that said there were 11 hours
and 1 minutes left.
However, that number didn't change after it had played for a couple of minutes.
When I opened the mini player, that info disappeared.

If it is there visually, then it will be worth writing them, or calling them.
It is probably worth writing or calling even if it isn't there visually because
it should be.

Re: Several questions regarding newly purchased S E 2020

2020-07-16 Thread Joshua Hendrickson
I just upgraded my Verizon phone plan. I can get 5 gigs worth of
data, and unlimited talk and texts for only $25 per month. Its great.
I had no issues changing my plan. I just followed the automatic
prompts from the automated system. I then contacted customer service
and spoke with someone who helped me understand what I had changed to.
If I wanted unlimited data, I could get that for only $50 per month.
Five gigs of data is enough for me.

I saved Alan Lemley's steps to transfer info from one iPhone to another

Question 2. Does anyone have any strong opinion as to which M V N O

Question 3. My understanding is that the S E 2020 has a home button,

In 2009 I bought the first iPod Touch with VoiceOver, the 3rd generation.
At that time, the normal battery life was maybe 5 hours of use.
But, if you were listening to audio, while the device was locked, you could get
40 hours.
I tested that very soon as I had ripped most of my CD collection into iTunes so
I had probably 60 hours of music.
I select songs, shuffle all, and started it playing.
I plugged in headphones, so I wouldn’t hear it all the time while I was
working, etc.
I checked the battery after 36 hours and it was at 20%.

That is still true. If you are playing audio, or video for that matter, and
lock the phone, you get far greater battery life.

Whether that has to do with the screen brightness or not, I don’t know, but
probably not as having the device locked does more than just blank the screen.

I know with my new SE 2020, with screen brightness set to auto and leaving the
screen curtain on, I get a full day and more depending on usage, but I use it a
lot every day for books, email, reading news, searching the web, etc.
Yesterday, from 100% in the morning, it was at about 50% when I went to bed.
It doesn’t lose much at all over night, maybe 1 or 2%.

If you receive internet through Charter or Comcast/Xfinity, you can
receive mobile service on Verizon for just $12 for a gig of data.
Calls and texts are free as is texting to international numbers. For

I use Xfinity Internet for $20 a month and pay $12 split between two lines.

Hi all,

If I set my iPhone screen brightness to zero, will my screen use zero battery

Thanks,

Hi there,

Has anyone begun using the Peacock TV app on their iPhones? I am having a
hard time with it. I can't seem to find anywhere to search. I can't seem to
switch between channels or find settings. I can navigate better on my PC
computer, but I want to be able to watch content on my phone as well.

If you have any advice or tips, please let me know.

RE: Accessible accounting software?

2020-07-16 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
QuickBooks Online is very accessible, but it's a subscription model.
As Tom said, it would help if you explained a bit more if you are looking for
something just for personal finances or for a business.
I have been using Sage 50 for 20 years (it used to be called Simply Accounting
prior to becoming Sage 50) and it works fine for me although I would not call
it exactly fully accessible and I'd probably not recommend it because they
don't care at all about accessibility. I am just used to it and I can do what I
need to do for my retail business which is primarily using the Purchases and
Payments journals to enter invoices and pay suppliers as well as the General
Journal for entering my sales and the account reconciliation feature to
reconcile my bank accounts.
I recently purchased a new building for my business and incorporated a new
holding company which owns the building and I am planning to use QuickBooks
Online for this company. There isn't a lot of volume especially once the
renovations are done, just some back and forth stuff between the company which
is my retail business and the new company which owns the building and I hope I
learn QuickBooks Online and get used to it to the point where I can switch my
retail business as well when my new fiscal year starts on January 1, 2021. At
that point I hope to also integrate the new point o fsale system we are going
to use once we move to the new location in about 3 or 4 weeks with QuickBooks
Online.

Best regards,
Sieghard

Is there any fully accessible, VoiceOver compatible, accounting software?

I have been desperately looking for some accounting software over the past few

I could make do by having an accountant friend visit me and write my accounts
for me on my non-accessible software.
COVID19 has put an end to that! we specially challenged people have to now do

RE: Last Outlook comment

2020-07-16 Thread Richard Turner
I use Outlook every day on my computer and have had no issues this week.
Since the note was posted on the VIPhone list, I assumed people were talking
about the Outlook app on Apple devices.

I don’t use Outlook on my iPhone.

RE: A quick iPhone battery question

2020-07-16 Thread Richard Turner

If I set my iPhone screen brightness to zero, will my screen use zero battery

Hi. Don't post here much, but I saw an article on this yesterday, I think from
PC World, that mentioned Microsoft hosed Outlook and they were working on a
fix. They did have a command line thing you could do to roll back Outlook to
the last stable version, which I did and that worked. Google pcworld outlook

RE: Accessible accounting software?

2020-07-16 Thread Tom Rash
I only know of software to handle checking account info. Let me know if that's
what you are looking for.

Subject: Accessible accounting software?

Is there any fully accessible, VoiceOver compatible, accounting software?

I have been desperately looking for some accounting software over the past few
years, but I have never been lucky!
I could make do by having an accountant friend visit me and write my accounts
for me on my non-accessible software.
COVID19 has put an end to that! we specially challenged people have to now do
more and more things on our own, accounting is one of them. How are all of you
guys managing? Would love to get some solution for this tremendously vexing
problem!
