Re: Reminders app

2020-09-29 Thread Wayne Merritt
I get the same results when doing reminders in Fantastical II. I have
a weekly reminder each Sunday to take a medication. As I look through
the calendar, I see only the upcoming week's reminder and not the
future reminders. Whenever I mark the task as completed, the reminder
moves to the next week automatically. I've tried using the Walgreens
app for medication reminders, but found that after some time, it
skipped the reminders. So I'm glad the native reminders and apps like
Fantastical are much more consistent.

RE: Place for memos or notes.

2020-09-29 Thread R Van Lant
One of my favorite apps is called Repeat Check. It’s a really simple interface
where I keep lists of reminders. What I like is that the homepage is where you
can create various lists, then you tap on one to go into that list and can
create items. You can also rearrange the lists. I have various lists of
movies to see, books to read, local attractions I want to remember to explore,
things I want to do at a particular destination, questions I want to ask
someone next time we talk, and so on. Happy to tell you more about it if it
sounds like something you are looking for. Below is the link to the app store.
The description appears to be written by a non-native English speaker and does
not do the app justice. I heard about the app from another blind person on this
list or on AppleVis.

There's also the Voice Memos app if you'd rather record than dictate or type.
And then, should you need a different aproach, there are many different apps on
the app store. Drafts and Allegory are two examples known to be accessible. And
then, there are all sorts of apps for keeping track of things. Journallng apps
like Day One Journal and Miary. Task managers like Microsoft Todo and Things3.
Apps like Fantasticalcombine calendar with remindrs. And then, there are apps
like Sofa for keeping track of things you might want to remember to do in your
down time. Hope this helps you get a sense of what's possible and that you find
what best suits your needs.

RE: My phone says screen dimmed, then locks while on a phone call in iOS 14

2020-09-29 Thread R Van Lant
This has been happening to me, even if I’m on a call to my ear. But, when the
screen dims, I think my phone usually goes to speaker, which is not what I
want. I push the home button one with my thumb to unlock it and the call will
go back to my ear. Been mainly using earbuds on call lately, but I assume this
glitch is still the case. Definitely not a IOS 14 bug, I’m not in 14 yet.

Hi.

I’m not sure how well I like this. I start a phone call with the phone to my
ear. I then move it away, and it switches to speaker. After about 5 seconds,
Voiceover says “screen dimmed”, then after a couple seconds it locks. Nice
thing is it stays on speaker, even if you move it to your ear. If I hit the
side button, it unlocks, and I can get back to the earpiece with no problem.

Just for your information.

RE: Reminders app

2020-09-29 Thread R Van Lant
I have a monthly reminder and it only shows me the reminder once in the app.
Once I mark it complete, it will adjust to the next time I had asked it to
remind me.

I tried again, I told Siri to remind me every morning at 8:30 to take One folic
acid pill. And then I created a second reminder to remind me every morning at
11:30am to take one Tarisso… And when I went into the reminders app this time
it showed the correct times and after each entry it indicated daily. it only
has that in the list of scheduled reminders for tomorrow and Monday and nothing
beyond that. So as you say Richard maybe it will only show the reminder a few
days at a time. We will see what happens come tomorrow or Monday. Maybe The app
only shows you a couple of days at a time.I’d be surprised if i’d be surprised
if I formally used a wording that was different than what I just used but at
least this time it worked. On Sep 19, 2020, at 3:31 PM, Richard Turner

Re: linking sirius xm to my echo dot

2020-09-29 Thread Robin

Okay, Ms. Kitty

To Link YourSiriusXMRadio Account to YourAmazonAlexa i.e.,
AmazonEcho, You must
Go into Your AmazonAlexa MobileApp, & SearchFor the AlexaSkill:
SiriusXM Radio, & then Enable the SiriusXM Radio Skill by Loggin'
IN to YourSiriusXM Account with YourSiriusXM Radio UserName & Password

You can Ask Amazon'sAlexa to Enable/Open the SiriusXM Radio Skill,
& maybe that will Eliminate the Need to Search Alexa'sSkills for
the SiriusXM Radio skill.

Hope this Helps

Also, when Streamin' Music/Content, Users must Say: Alexa, Play ...
ON SiriusXM i.e., Alexa, Play the 49ers ON SiriusXM

RE: Question about Lazarillo

2020-09-29 Thread chaltain
You’re creating an account in Lazarillo. It’s asking you to use your email
address as a user ID. You’d use a different password just like you would with
any new account. I assume it’s doing this so it can keep track of things like
POI’s for you in the cloud. You won’t have to log on every time.

Note that when I did this, I just used the Google option and then gave
permission for Lazarillo to pull my data from Google.

Hi Rena,

I just installed it on a new device to duplicate your issues.

1. After entering your email, the spot on the screen where the return key
would normally be, is now the word “Next” double tap that to go to the password
screen.
2.Enter your password and again double tap on the Next button in the
bottom right.

You will be asked to allow it to use your location, etc.

When done, it will start talking a lot about everything around you. At the top
left of the screen is the “Stop Exploration” button. I recommend stopping it
so you can get familiar with the screen.

I have written the developer to ask that he change it so it begins with
Exploration off.

Hello,

I already found the app, but I’m confused and need some clarifications, please.
When I open, it asks me to sign in, using email, or Face book, etc. I typed my
email address, but I don’t find any button to sign in. First of all, do I have
to sign in and provide email address in order to use the app? Otherwise, how
can I skip over all that and start using the app?

Unless you’re logging in, nobody should be asking you for your password.
In other words you never give anybody your password in an email.

Hi All,

This was in last weeks Top Tech Tidbits.

15. Amazon Seeks Screen Reader Users for Paid Research. Amazon is currently
seeking screen reader users, age 18 and older, to participate in paid research
regarding image descriptions on product web pages. If you are an adult screen
reader user you can fill out a brief qualification survey with 5 questions to
see if you qualify for the study. If you qualify, they will send an email with
instructions and a link to the full study. Those who complete the full study
will receive a $100 Amazon gift card. The qualification survey is expected to
take only a
few minutes to complete, and will only be active until September 30, 2020:

2020-09-29 Thread Gerardo Corripio
Since last week's Netflix update (yesterday's update didn't fix it either), I
can't seem to find the Cast button! It used to be located right above the
"More" tab, on the right part of the Home Tab on the main screen. Did the
casting mode change, or how do you cast nowadays, to a Smart TV, or Google
ChromeCast to watch Netflix on the TV? Thanks for info.

I started watching this the other day and after several minutes gave up as

Amazon Looking for Screen Reader Users

2020-09-29 Thread Mike B
Hi All,

This was in last weeks Top Tech Tidbits.

15. Amazon Seeks Screen Reader Users for Paid Research. Amazon is currently
seeking screen reader users, age 18 and older, to participate in paid
research regarding image descriptions on product web pages. If you are an
adult screen reader user you can fill out a brief qualification survey with
5 questions to see if you qualify for the study. If you qualify, they will
send an email with instructions and a link to the full study. Those who
complete the full study will receive a $100 Amazon gift card. The
qualification survey is expected to take only a
few minutes to complete, and will only be active until September 30, 2020:

Re: iPhone se has stopped talking

2020-09-29 Thread Kimberly
My phone did the exact same thing yesterday while my Bluetooth braille display
was connected. Mine was not a volume problem as this was the first thing that I
tried to recover voiceover. I didn’t get VoiceOver back until I turned off the
braille display so I think it was the Bluetooth hijacking the audio as someone
in this thread proposed. It’s a weird and interesting problem and can be a
little nerve-racking when it happens.

volume and flic up.
