2021-07-09 Thread Jen .
Hi,
I I am looking for a keyboard case for my iPad mini fourth generation not too
expensive preferably through Amazon or some other easy place to access online
that is available in Canada as I really am not ready to go to stores as of yet
to look for such things.
Thanks in advance if you can help as I am curious what people are using for
this kind of thing.

Re: Locked Voiceover Speech Rate Now Working, How I Fixed It

2021-07-09 Thread Arnold Schmidt
I am glad you did not have to go the reset all settings route to fix it. The
problem Ihad several years ago when I went that route, with the resulting
situation described earlier, was that Apple Braille Screen input got seriously
jumbled up, none of the dots were remotely where they were supposed to be,
making it completely unuseable. I now know how to fix it if it gets that way
again, leaving resetting all settings as the last resort. I don't remember ever
having seen that folder you mentioned, I am going to look for it now. Thanks
for letting us know the resolution to your problem.

If you can use another money identifying app, then try deleting Eyenote yet
again.
This time, when you redownload it, do not open it.
Just redownload it, then go to the iPhone Settings, eyeNote and enable the
camera there or toggle it on and off and set it to speak, etc.

Then, launch the app.

Mark on the New Apple Siri Remote for Apple TV, A Question

2021-07-09 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Everyone,

Okay, I just purchased the new Siri remote for my Apple TV.

Very nice. I like the fact that I can now switch off both my Apple TV and
television with the click of one button.

I also like the fact that the swiping feature can be disabled; making the
remote more similar to the original Apple TV remote.

A general question to you all: Are there any accessibility secrets that are
now available with this latest version of the Siri remote?

Mark

Re: Adding items to rotor

2021-07-09 Thread Dave Clement
Hi,

Assuming you are asking for an iPhone or iPad...

Go to:
Settings/accessibility/voiceover/rotor

Here you will get alist of all of the rotor options you can add. Double tap on
any you wish to add to your rotor. You should hear "selected" when you double
tap an option.
To remove a selectedoption, just double tap it again.
You can also reorder the options on the rotor to your best advantage.

IOS will also add some context-sensitive options to the rotor depending on what
you are doing at any particular time. For example, the "edit" rotor item will
appear on the rotor any time you are editing information but it will not be
there if you are not in edit mode.

Also, apps can add their own items to the rotor depending on how they have been
programmed. For example, the Pages app will add a number of items to the rotor
relating to formatting options.

Hope this helps,

Re: Adding items to rotor

2021-07-09 Thread Anna Dresner
Hi Dan,

Open VoiceOver settings, and choose Rotor. All possible rotor items are listed
on that screen. Double-tapping an item selects or deselects it. select the ones
you want on the rotor. You can also reorder items on the rotor from that screen.

Best,
Anna

1. How does one change the signal sound for Siri?
2. When he said Siri, Siri addressed him saying good
morning, Pete. How could I set that one, only not good
morning, Pete, of course LOL.

mike,
That is a first. There is no setting like that.
Perhaps going through the reset of your settings; but I think I'd call Apple
Accessibility first. But you could reset all settings which means you will not
lose any data, just all your settings; which can be tedious to have to go
through.
Maybe apple would have an easier solution.

Re: Voiceover Speech Rate is Locked

2021-07-09 Thread Arnold Schmidt
I agree with Richard in that resetting all settings very well may fix it. A
word of caution before you do it: The only time I have ever had to reset all
settings was several years ago with my iPhone 6. I waited and waited, but
VoiceOver never came back on, it is the only time I have ever had to get
sighted assistance to do anything with my iPhones, being that triple clicking
the home button didn't work, and Siri could not turn it back on, either.
Everybody else says voiceOver comes back on for them, hopefully it will for
you, too, if you go this route, but be prepared with some sighted assistance if
it doesn's.

It's unfortunate then that your "jokes" do at times not come across as such.
Remember that this is email and at least you may want to use an emoji or two to
convey extra or hidden meaning if that is what you intend. You can make your
voice sound teasing or sarcastic, but unless you add something like a 藍 or 
emoji to indicate you are joking that may not be obvious; or at least then add
something like "Joking aside" to your line which is meant to be the serious
question. Anyways, I'm sure in a country like New Zealand where outdoor
pursuits like hiking, camping, hunting and water sports are so wide spread you
must have stores like mine who sell the gear for it.

Hey Dude,

I'm not knocking your product promoting,

You've got the knowledge and info on these things,

It wasn't a knock as such,

Infact I highly mean it when I say do you ship to other countries as you've got
some interesting camping related stuff

So it wasn't meant as a dig, it was meant as a joke kind of serious.

No, it is not, it was simply meant to describe products I have direct knowledge
of. If this was mistaken for "self-promotion" then I'll be more careful next
time and simply say that "I have a Louisiana Grill pellet barbecue" or that "I
Know that there is a Bradley 10-rack professional smart smoker" instead of
mentioning that I sell them at my store.

As for whether I sell to other countries the answer would be yes, but I doubt
the shipping cost for a 300 pound pellet barbecue which comes in a box which is
almost 6 feet (182 cm) long and 30 inches (75 cm) deep and wide would make this
a viable option, products like this are better bought from a local dealer so I
assume you would have to go to the appropriate brand website to find out if
they are sold in your country.

Is this self promotion for your business?

An easy way to get the word out but do you ship to other countries if Petrus or

I just started selling Louisiana Grill pellet smokers/barbecues and while I
only just brought them in I think the app can be used. I had the sales rep at
my store doing a demo and I had the app on my phone and I was able to adjust
the temperature and see the target temperature as well as the current
temperature and also the temperature of the 2 meat [probes we had connected.
The model we used and which I will take home for myself is the Founders series
1200 premium which is their largest size, but the app which is called SmokeIt
works also with the Louisiana Grill Black Label series which comes in 3 sizes,
the 800, 1000 and 1200, here in Canada they sell for $1,099, $1,199 and $1,299
respectively.

The Founders series 1200 Premium is $1,599 Canadian and there is only one model
above this which is the Founders series Legacy which is the same size as the
other 1200 models, but it's all double wall stainless steel with insulation so
it can be used even throughout the winter in colder temperatures and it also
has a few other things included which are optional for the other grills like a
side shelf, a griddle etc. The Black Label series grills can take up to 2 meat
probes, the Founders series can take up to 4 and the pellet hopper on the
Founders series is quite a bit larger than on the Black Label.

These are very good, high quality products which come with what I believe is an
industry leading 5-year warranty and I don't think that except for the cable
and maybe the knobs I have seen much plastic on them, it's all steel and I
assume aluminum. Concorde Distributing which owns the Louisiana Grill brand
also owns Pitt Boss which is their more entry level line and they also own
Jackson Grill which are traditional propane barbecues and they also own
BlazeKing wood stoves and several other brands.

Hi Richard,

I just got off the phone with Apple Accessibility and they've escalated the
issue, taken a screen recording and copied the phones diagnostics, so
hopefully they'll find something simple. This is totally weird, it happened
and I wasn't even using the phone.

mike,
That is a first. There is no setting like that.
Perhaps going through the reset of your settings; but I think I'd call Apple
Accessibility first. But you could reset all settings which means you will
not lose any data, just all your settings; which can be tedious to have to
go through.
Maybe apple would have an easier solution.

Re: question has any one come up with a cheet sheet or resorse that describes what the icons on the i phone screen meen?

2021-07-09 Thread Mike B
Check this out:

From: Rita Howells
Visual description of the icons on an Apple iOS device: Rita’s iDevice
Advice for June 1, 2020

Master list of the icons on an Apple iOS Device

Apple’s iOS software is an extremely visual environment, with icons that
VoiceOver has been programmed to describe. An icon is a picture or symbol on
the
screen, used to represent an application, action, or a status message. This
article will attempt to describe what a sighted person sees when looking at
his/her iOS and iPad OS device. Having a basic understanding of these visual
concepts can help non sighted users explain and teach iOS to those who can
see, as well as providing an easier means by which Voiceover users and
sighted users can relate to each other with regard to the iOS interface.

Please keep in mind that the descriptions presented in this document are
based on initial layout, which you might see if you purchase a new iPhone or
iPad
and set it up as new, rather than restoring from a back-up. As you, or other
people, use your device, changes may be made, additional apps may be
installed,
thus adding new icons, and much more. Additionally, the layout and
descriptions presented here represent the current configuration as of iOS 13
and iPad
OS. Much can change as new software updates are released. That said, the
information in this document is subject to change or to be inaccurate.

General Overview:

When your Apple device is asleep, you can wake it up in one of several ways
as described in the user guides, such as pressing the Home or Sleep/Wake
button,
or tapping/lifting your device. You are then immediately presented with the
Lock Screen. This screen displays a padlock icon in the center of the
screen,
with the padlock either open or closed, depending on the current lock state
of your device. Directly below that are the current time and date, one above
the other. This Lock Screen also displays any notifications you may have
received while your device was asleep. Select models also display a flash
light
icon in the bottom left, and a Camera icon in the bottom right. By default,
devices with Face ID hide notification preview text until the device is
unlocked.

>From here, you can place your finger on the Home Button (devices with Touch
ID), or glance at your device (Face ID devices) to unlock your iPhone or
iPad.
if necessary, you can slide up with one finger, using the bar at the very
bottom center of the screen, to go Home. This places you on the Home Screen.

The Home Screen is divided into four distinct elements. These include:

- App Icons

- Page Selector

- Dock

- Status Bar

Giving special locations on the screen for the fixed elements can help
sighted people find them. For example, the Status Bar is at the top of the
screen
and the Dock is the bar with app icons across the bottom of the screen. It
displays the same app icons, no matter which Home Screen page you are on.
The
Page Selector is just above the Dock, and the App Icon area, located between
the Status Bar and the Page Selector, is a grid of icons, representing all
the apps installed on your device.

The Status Bar (Top left and right of screen; not a physical bar):

Many different icons can show up on the Status Bar, depending on what
services you have, etc. For example, an airplane icon will replace the WiFi
icon
if your device is in airplane mode. LTE, 3G, 4G, 5GE, or others may show up
depending on your current cellular service. There are indicators for
personal
hotspot, a call indicator when a call is in progress, location services
icon, etc.

Normally on the top left side of the Status Bar, the time is in numbers,
like a Digital readout.

Further to the right, the Cellular signal strength is represented by
vertical bars. The stronger the signal, the more bars are represented (a
maximum of
4 bars can show up).

To the right of that is the Wi-Fi indicator which is two downward curved
lines pointing with a dot under the two curved lines (some people call this
graphic
for WI-FI a Rainbow). The stronger the Wi-Fi signal, the more parts of this
graphic appear filled in.

At the far right is the Battery indicator which is like a double A battery
lying on its side and the center is filled with the level of charge which
changes
as the charge is used up or replenished.

Note that the Status Bar also appears at the top of the Lock Screen.

App Icon Area:

The majority of the Home Screen is comprised of the app icon area. This is a
grid of apps, which is laid out with usually six rows (vertically) of apps
with four apps (horizontally) in each row. Apps can be rearranged on the
Home Screen, so that they appear in the order you prefer. You can even make
folders
which can store numerous apps. As new apps are installed, they most commonly
appear last on the Home Screen. When you set up a new device, all Apple apps
appear on the Home Screen first, followed by any third-party apps you may
choose to install.

question has any one come up with a cheet sheet or resorse that describes what the icons on the i phone screen meen?

2021-07-09 Thread Mich Verrier
Hi all. Yesterday I was trying to help my Dad with his I phone he needed to
change his password on facebook after getting hacked. I tried to get vo
running but couldn't. I asked him to describe what was on the screen and he
was describing things to me that I had no idea like for instince a sercle
with a little tale on it and icons like that. then after having a chatt with
some friends they told me that the edit icon is apencel and things like
that. that got me to thinking I wonder if any one has come out with a
rezorce or cheet sheet describing what the icons on the screen are vishuley?
For instince edit equals a pencel and stuff like that since I realised that
for those of us who are blind and who use vo vo will describe the different
things as far as what they do like settings edit etc but I for one and I am
shure others have no idea that for the sighted that the icons don't say
those things and that they are pictures. So I am wondering if there is sutch
a thing out there. From Mich.

Don't see it there. No way to get this app that supposedly works now?

It is called, Smart cooker, but I really don't think it is in the app store.
You can look though.

I never had the app before. Is there a way I can get it, or if you didn't
have it before, you can't get it? What is it called?

Hi,

You might need to refresh your App Store. Once you're on the updates page,
put focus anywhere in the middle of the screen then swipe down with three
fingers and that should refresh it and show you all of the latest updates
that you have available. Hope that helps.

Voiceover Speech Rate is Locked

2021-07-09 Thread Mike B
Morning All,

I'm running iOS14.6 on an SE2020 iPhone. I don't know what happened, but my
phone was laying on my desk one minute and the next time I picked it up to
do something or another the speech rate was faster than my default rate. No
biggie right? Well, I can't change it in Voiceover speech rate settings or
from the rotor! I rebooted the phone and I tried changing voices, but I
still can't adjust my speech rate.

Did I somehow lock the voice rate setting? Is there such a feature that
locks speech rate? Can anyone help me get my speech rate adjustment working
again?! All help is greatly appreciated and graciously accepted. Thanks
mooy mooy moocho!

Stay safe & take care. Mike.
Just once, I want a username and password prompt to say: "Close Enough!"
