Re: disappearing voiceover

2021-07-31 Thread Barbara Stahl
I also either turn voiceover off and then back on again using seri or I use
a triple finger double tap to turn the speech back on. Sometimes I have to
do that gesture a couple times before voiceover is restored.

RE: Spatial audio, AirPods max and voice dream

2021-07-31 Thread Richard Turner
The SE 2020 does indeed have the chip.

I used the BookSense XT to record because the binaural microphone is a 3.5 MM
jack. The microphone has two pickups, one for each ear.
That way, what the recording picks up is exactly what I’m hearing.
I then put the Airpods Max on and used my SE 2020 to play the book and the
music while recording onto the booksense.
Then, I trim a little off the end of the first file, and trimmed a little off
the start of the second file.
I did n’t attempt to adjust the sound at all.
So, what you hear is what you get.

Granted, it is a microphone recording so there will be some loss of quality,
but this way you get an idea of the effects.

I hope that came across.

Hi richard,
Don’t you have a iPhone SE two? I thought that’s what you would’ve used to make
your recordings, but according to another contributor to the thread, the SE two
doesn’t have the requisite chip. I am thoroughly confused at this point.

Just be sure to have stereo headphones on while listening.

I will say I am running the iOS 15 public beta 4, but I somehow doubt that is

Hi richard,
Well, I thought it was straight up and down. I did try re-positioning the

was surprised when you said it worked at all, sense as far as I know, the
spatial audio etc. is supposed to be on music and videos. I will be curious if

Have you turned your phone off and then back on, to see if you would get back
to normal battery usage. That can happen after an update, but shouldn't go on

RE: Battery Issue in latest update

2021-07-31 Thread don.moore48 via VIPhone
What happens sometimes is that tracking is on for many applications on the
phone, and it can be a battery drone. Going into settings and accessing the
settings for all your apps, turn off tracking for any of them where you don't
really need tracking, and it'll go a long way. Also reducing the screen
brightness can help, although if you use the phone for stuff like boarding
passes you need it a little brighter than you otherwise wood. Maybe someone
else can come other thoughts also.

RE: Numbers aren't showing up when receiving a phone call where selecting options are required

2021-07-31 Thread Richard Turner
Check in the phone app settings. The item after Notifications says: Incoming
Calls.
That should be on Full Screen. If it is just the Banner, You won't get the
keypad.

Once you have answered the call, there should be an icon in the upper left that
says Call in Progress, you can double tap that to get focus on the phone app.

Numbers aren't showing up when receiving a phone call where selecting options are required

2021-07-31 Thread John J. Fioravanti, Jr.
Good afternoon:
Sometimes when I'm in an app such as Bard Mobil and I get a call from a company
where I am required to choose options with the numbers, I am unable to get to
the numbers. The phone just remains in the Bard App. Any suggestions?

RE: Editing Home Screen

2021-07-31 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
You are trying it the old way with dragging the app, much easier to flick down
to Edit mode, double tap and Voiceover says "Started Editing".
Now find the app you want to move, let's assume it's the Camera app, and flick
down again until you hear "Drag Camera", now double tap.
You can now take your finger off the screen and go to wherever you want to put
the app, if you are in a folder on the second home screen and you want to put
the app on the first home screen, exit the folder by doing the scrub gesture,
then go to your first home page and go to where you want the app.
Let's assume you have the following apps in your top row:
App Store, Calculator, Settings and Clock
Let's further assume you want to put the Camera app in third place, where
Settings now sits, this means Settings would get pushed to the right and the
Clock app which is the last in the row would get pushed to the right as well
which means it will end up in the second row on the very left.
So, you put focus on Settings, then flick down until you hear "Drop Camera
before Settings" then you double tap and the Camera app is placed before
Settings which means Settings is pushed over.
If you selected to "Drop Camera after Settings" the Camera app would go to the
right of Settings where before you had the Clock app, this way Settings would
stay in third place, Camera would now be in fourth place which is on the very
right of row 1 and the Clock app still would end up in row 2 on the very left.
Think of "Drop before" that the app goes to the left of the app you are on
which means in place of the app and drop after means it goes to the right of
the app you are on and the next app gets pushed over.
There will also be an option to create a folder with the app you are on, for
example, if you are dragging the Camera app and you go to the Photos app you
could create a folder with these two apps which iOS would give a default name,
this name can be changed later and if you are dragging an app and put focus on
an existing folder then in addition to drop before and drop after you will have
an option to drop the app into the folder.
Lastly, after you go to your first app and select to drag the app you can go to
a second and third app or even more and on each of them you can flick down to
where Voiceover says "Add to drag session" and double tap. Voiceover will say
that you are now dragging 2 apps or 3 apps or however many you select. This is
very useful if you already have a folder and want to add a number of apps to
the same folder.

Subject: Editing Home Screen

Hi everyone,
I have an iPhone 12 mini and have latest software installed. Because of not
having my phone locked when pushing it into pocket, I evidently triggered edit
mode and several of my app icons, that normally are on my first page of home
screen, are now shifted to other pages, some even into folders.
I’ve tried doing edit mode, holding my finger on icon that I’m wanting to shift
back and sliding, but it only goes to boundary of page and I’m unable to figure
out how to move it further.
Can anyone share wisdom on how to go about moving the icon to another page of
the home screen?
Thanks,
Dan

Hi richard,
Well, I thought it was straight up and down. I did try re-positioning the
headphones a few times with no change. So this is very interesting. I really
was surprised when you said it worked at all, sense as far as I know, the
spatial audio etc. is supposed to be on music and videos. I will be curious if
you can repeat this.

They have to be positioned just right.
Try taking them off and putting them back on in as straight up and down

I'll try again later; they are on the charger right now.

RE: Editing Home Screen

2021-07-31 Thread Christopher Chaltain
Yes. I'll be repeating some of what Richard already explained, but when you
find the icon you want to move, flick down and double tap on edit. Now flick
down until you hear drag and double tap. Now you can just move around your home
pages like you normally would, exploring, swiping, three finger swipes left and
right and so on. Once you find where you want to place the icon, flick down
until you hear drop before or drop after and double tap. I hope that helps, but
please ask if it doesn't make any sense.

I do also run into this but there is no pattern, sometimes Voiceover just is

What is happening is that you are pressing 3 fingers to the screen instead of
2. To restore the voice, Either, press 3 fingers to the screen or turn voice
over off and back on again. I guess we can fix the problem by changing the 3
finger gesture to something else. Maybe down the line the team could change it
to something else that stops this from happening or we can be more careful.

RE: Listening to local FM on Iphone

2021-07-31 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Whether a radio station can be streamed in apps like Tune In has nothing to do
with the App Store or whether he is in India, but it has everything to do with
whether the station has a livestream and apparently this station does not hence
there is no way for it to be available for streaming online.

So, it would take being close enough to use a standard FM radio.

RE: Spatial audio, AirPods max and voice dream

2021-07-31 Thread Richard Turner
Hi Mary and all,
I recorded a couple samples of Spatial Audio using a binaural microphone. The
first is a sample from Voice Dream Reader. the second is a sample from Apple
Music's Spatial Audio of The Planets by Holst.
I suggest listening to the VDR sample first.
Voice Dream Reader with Spatial Audio:

The Planets:
http://www.turner42.com/02SpatialAudioThePlanetsExcert.mp3

Just be sure to have stereo headphones on while listening.

I will say I am running the iOS 15 public beta 4, but I somehow doubt that is
the difference. If so, you have something to look forward to; or not, this is
all personal preference of course.

Hi richard,
Well, I thought it was straight up and down. I did try re-positioning the
headphones a few times with no change. So this is very interesting. I really
was surprised when you said it worked at all, sense as far as I know, the
spatial audio etc. is supposed to be on music and videos. I will be curious if
you can repeat this.

Hi everyone,

I have an iPhone 12 mini and have latest software installed. Because of not
having my phone locked when pushing it into pocket, I evidently triggered edit

I’ve tried doing edit mode, holding my finger on icon that I’m wanting to shift
back and sliding, but it only goes to boundary of page and I’m unable to figure
out how to move it further.

Can anyone share wisdom on how to go about moving the icon to another page of
the home screen?

Thanks,

Dan
