getting new thirteens!

2021-11-19 Thread Curtis Delzer
My wife and I are changing from iPhone sevens to iPhone thirteens! How
big of a change is that? :)

We're both quite excited . . . Our carrier, Verizon, has a $650 credit
toward your new iPhone so if you're wishing to upgrade, when the overall
cost of the iPhone thirteen is about $150 to the 128 gig one, and $250
to the 256 gig one, and then all is required is an automatic payment
method be established to your bank account, and an unlimited plan, it
seems decent enough. I don't like the requirement for auto payment, but
since there is not a choice in that regard except to give up
privileges, I guess it's ok, grudgingly. :)

But, the change is significant, and even more so than the upgrade we had
from the 5S to the 7 which we are using today. In less than 15 hours or
so from the typing of this message I'll know how a thirteen feels in my
hand I bet, heavier, and it's suppose to sound outstanding too. :)

So we're excited!

I should have mentioned that because Seeing AI is free it's sort of a no

Yes Tap Tap see is useful for simple things but the problem is lining your
camera up to the required article or say a tin of something or bottle of

Hello,

For those of you who use this, does the machine sold for $99 allow someone to
use the system without an Apple or Android device? I wouldn’t think so, but
then I don’t see the use for it.

Thanks.

There is no beep. It's a little more difficult for me to hear that with my

Thanks in advance.

Hi Linda,
What do you mean the sensor unpaired from your phone?
I walk away from my phone all the time and it doesn't affect the sensor

Today is my second day using the freestyle libre too. I absolutely love it!
I was getting alerts from the app on my phone. Now, my watch is vibrating
without any auditory alarms. Did I somehow change a setting?
Earlier today I walked away from my phone so the sensor for lack of a better
was unpaired with the phone. Do I have to turn the alarms on again?
Thank you in advance,

It would have been great as a standalone device if it could speak the contents

For those of you who use this, does the machine sold for $99 allow someone to
use the system without an Apple or Android device? I wouldn’t think so, but
then I don’t see the use for it.

Thanks.

Isn’t the connection protocol between an iPhone and the Libre sensor
Bluetooth?

The last I read anything concerning such connectivity, there is a 30 foot
limitation to retain connection. I know that if I’m using my Bluetooth
headphones and walk from one end of my home to the other I lose that
connection.

RE: tap tap c and seeing a i

2021-11-19 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
You always have to line up your camera no matter which app you use.
Seeing AI has barcode recognition, but I don't think it's as good as Tap Tap
See with straight object recognition. Here is an example:
With Tap Tap See I can put a can of Coke or Ginger Ale on the counter and
simply take a picture of it and chances are that it will recognize it. With
Seeing AI you would have to find the barcode at least as far as I know and
everything I have tried with Seeing AI was when I scanned the barcode. Tap Tap
See looks at the entire picture, the colours, the writing and it compares it to
its data base of objects and it works quite well especially for popular
products.

RE: tap tap c and seeing a i

2021-11-19 Thread Richard Turner
HI Pat,
The best thing to do is the same thing that the old joke says when a person
asks "how do I get to Carnegie Hall" and the response is , "practice, practice,
practice."

Seeing AI can give you more information to help with text recognition.
However, for objects, learning how to get the camera so it catches the whole
object is critical, whether using Seeing AI scene preview, or TapTapSee.

IN Judy Dixon's book, Capturing and Sharing the World, one key tip is to hold
the camera as far from the object as the object is tall.
So, if it is 4 inches tall, you want to be at least 4 inches away. A couple
more is fine for good measure.

If you have someone you could call using FaceTime who could give you live
pointers when you have the back camera pointed so it gets the whole object,
that would be helpful.

I hope that is helpful.

RE: Wayaround question

2021-11-19 Thread Christopher Chaltain
I don’t have this device, but according to the description on their web site,
it does work in conjunction with your smart phone, and it would be good if
you’re using it with a device that doesn’t have an NFC chip available to the
WayAround app or you want to scan items without constantly interacting with
your phone, in a continual scan mode. Here’s what it says on their web page:

The WayLink scanner uses wireless near-field communication (NFC) to transfer
information between WayTag NFC tags and the WayAround mobile app, linking
physical items in your home and office to information you store in your
WayAround account. If your phone does not have a built-in NFC reader, the
WayLink Scanner will enable your device to work with WayAround. It is also
ideal for anywhere you prefer to use your phone hands-free.
The lightweight WayLink Scanner fits in the palm of your hand. It uses
Bluetooth to connect to your smartphone. Charging takes under an hour, and you
can scan hundreds of WayTags before you’ll need to recharge.

RE: Additional storage on iPhone

2021-11-19 Thread chrisjudge1967
Hi.

You can't actually increase the storage on your phone. You can buy additional
iCloud storage. I have an extra 50 gig for around a buck a month.

Hi,

I thought I saw something on the list about this several months ago. I’m not
quite ready to upgrade my phone but I need additional storage. What is it I
need to buy to expand the storage on my phone?

Thank you

2021-11-19 Thread Stewart McKay

Hi:

I have had many of the same issues with Siri that all of you have had.
but I haven't had them in quite awhile now.   I had timeswhen  Siri

upgraded to 15.1 and I was concerned with the issues I may have.  But so
far, so good.  phew! On 11/19/2021 8:27 AM, CHELA Robles wrote:

Alarms on Libre 2

2021-11-19 Thread Lynda Ingraham
Good morning everyone,

First, thank you to everyone that answered my questions yesterday about the
Libre 2.

We’re back online everything is working in terms of getting readings. Here’s my
problem, instead of the alert tone being played out loud from my phone my watch
is vibrating. I would prefer that that alert not go to my watch but my phone
because when it goes to the watch there’s no auto bowl signal that you can
hear. Does anyone have any suggestions how I might fix that? Now what’s
interesting is last night during the night, the sound was played quite loudly
and my husband was hearing it too. Lol but we were just sitting here having
coffee and instead of the tone being played out loud my watch was vibrating
like crazy and I just happened to check and see if it was telling me the
battery was low . It was actually telling me that the Libre was alerting me to
a low blood sugar.

As always I appreciate the help from the list.

I wonder why some people are having so many problems with Siri and others not?
Yes, very occasionally she will tell me "working on it" and then fail but this
is mostly when I am asking her to do something and she can't reach a wi-fi
connection. It is really rare for her to let me down though.

Re: Free style libre two

Isn’t the connection protocol between an iPhone and the Libre sensor Bluetooth?

The last I read anything concerning such connectivity, there is a 30 foot
limitation to retain connection. I know that if I’m using my Bluetooth
headphones and walk from one end of my home to the other I lose that connection.

RE: Weary of Siri

2021-11-19 Thread CJ & AA MAY
I wonder why some people are having so many problems with Siri and others not?
Yes, very occasionally she will tell me "working on it" and then fail but this
is mostly when I am asking her to do something and she can't reach a wi-fi
connection. It is really rare for her to let me down though.

Hi Linda,

What do you mean the sensor unpaired from your phone?

I walk away from my phone all the time and it doesn't affect the sensor

And alerts don't seem to be affected either

Today is my second day using the freestyle libre too. I absolutely love it!

I was getting alerts from the app on my phone. Now, my watch is vibrating
without any auditory alarms. Did I somehow change a setting?

Earlier today I walked away from my phone so the sensor for lack of a better
was unpaired with the phone. Do I have to turn the alarms on again?

Thank you in advance,

Lynda

Yeah that’s why I got the 256gb

It’s still cheaper than I paid for the ipHone x,

I’m pretty sure they have increased the weight of the devices as well.

Esther already has a 7 Plus which is about as big as they get so in terms of
that I doubt she would have a problem with the 13 Pro Max, what my main problem
with that phone is, is the price point which I think is ridiculous and I refuse
to justify spending that kind of money on a phone which I will keep at best for
3 or 4 years and depending on what else comes along maybe only for 2.

Hi Esther,

Before you just buy one,

Have a look at the physical size

The pro max is large,

But it dpends on what you want.

The pro is I think A nice size, and the storage capacity is as you know
completely sepperate to the physical size.

But I suggest if possible compare the sizes so you get the one that fits,

I don’t mind having the pro max,
But If I was to do the purchase again,
I’d go the pro simply for the physical size difference.

But hey which ever one you go for I’m sure you’ll love it.

Good luck.

If you can

So you can see the size difference,

I say that having gone form the 11 pro max to a 13 pro max

the pro

But hey I’m not knocking my pro max, it’s fantastic so far.
