RE: It May be Time to Review Your Wireless Plan

2022-07-12 Thread M. Taylor
Hi Carolyn,

Yes, A T & T Wireless is notorious for not informing current customers who are
on legacy plans about new products that may cost less. They just keep
increasing the cost of the legacy plan.

Although the A T & T Wireless app is VoiceOver accessible, for the most part, I
strongly suggest that VoiceOver users not use the iOS app to actually change
wireless plans.

Subject: It May be Time to Review Your Wireless Plan

Hello Everyone,

So, a couple of days ago I received a message from A T & T Wireless informing
me that my wireless plan pricing would be increasing, slightly.

Given that the price has been pretty stable for both Verizon and A T & T
Wireless for quite some time, I was just going to absorb the increase.

Then I realized that I had not reviewed the latest offerings from either
Verizon Wireless or A T & T Wireless in a long time.

What I discovered is that both of these two companies are now offering products
with many more features and at a lower cost than the plans I already have.

So, I switched wireless plans and my new monthly balance will be about $20 (per
wireless provider) less than it would have been had I remained on the old
discontinued plans.

So, perhaps it is time for you to take a few moments and review your wireless
plan with your wireless provider to see if you may benefit from making a change
or two.

If you are in the United States, I always recommend the following when dealing
with wireless providers:

1.
If traveling to a physical wireless provider store, be certain it is a
corporate store and not merely a dealer.

2.
If contacting via telephone, call before 3PM (EST) in order to increase the
chances of speaking to a representative who is located in the United States or
Canada.

Good Luck and happy shopping.

Mark

Hello Mike,

Yes, the same thing has happened to me, also.

I suggest that you call the Verizon Wireless tollfree number and give them your
zip code and ask where the closest corporate store is located in your area.

Hi Mark,

What's the best way to find out if a Verizon store is a corporate store or a
private dealer?

The last store I visited I learned after the fact they were a private store and
not corporate. I had called this store ahead of time and asked them, and was
lied to.

Re: RE: It May be Time to Review Your Wireless Plan

2022-07-12 Thread joseph . hudson
I found that out to a friend before I hit switch to them which is honestly
pretty cool. Just another reason why I did it. I always wanted to try Verizon,
but didn’t wanna be on the prepaid side of things. And didn’t wanna pay their
outrageous prices unless I really really had to. Whenever I went to the mall to
get my girlfriends phone, we got approached by them, and I told them no.
Because of their high prices. And I also found out that they were one of The
private dealers as well. They weren’t an actual Verizon store.

Water avoid that problem, make sure you have a current back up. For instance, I
went through something that you did. And I’ve definitely learned from it. I
reset an old iPad, so that I could have a accessible point of restoring my
grandma‘s data. For her new phone. But I forgot to back up my data. So I
definitely know what you mean I was screwed. But I haven’t skipped a beat
cents. And actually doing the transfer from consumer cellular to spectrum, was
a breeze other than consumer taking their sweet time to release the numbers.
And I have never had to reset a phone just so I could switch carriers.

I need to go to a store, so that someone can do whatever they do to make the

Spectrum ISP sucks. I'm worried about trying the cell coverage.

Hi Mark, I did this a while back. Because I was paying almost noon $80 for both
of my lines. I recently switched to spectrum, and I am a happy spectrum
customer. I only have to pay 25 per hour line, and it gets me unlimited data
and talk and text. For those of you that have Spectrum in your area, I

2022-07-12 Thread Kevin Minor
Hi.

I have Spectrum mobile, and I'm happy with it. Something I learned that, at
least for me, Spectrum uses Verizon for its mobile network.

Just something to know.

Re: RE: It May be Time to Review Your Wireless Plan

2022-07-12 Thread joseph . hudson
Well, for somebody who just went on vacation in June, all the way up north as
far north as you could go possibly in the states. The coverage was great. I
traveled from my home in Texas all the way up to Minnesota and back and had no
problems. Meaning there was no dropped calls, no long outages of service, and
very few dead spots. I didn’t hit a dead spot until I first got into Minnesota.
And even that did not last long. If this helps you winning, they run off of the
Verizon Towers.

Mark

VoiceOver Quick Settings [was "RE: screen recognition"]

2022-07-12 Thread Christopher Chaltain
One tip I got from this list, or AppleVis or somewhere else is to move
everything you can, except navigation gestures, from the roter into quick
settings. This means the things you access more often, such as moving by
character, word or heading, are in your roter, while those things you change
seldomly, like audio ducking, speech rate, and so on are in your quick
settings. In this way, you don’t have to jump over so many things when you’re
in your roter.

Hi,

The gesture to bring up "quick settings" is:

You can pick the settings you want in your quick settings in the Voiceover

Re: screen recognition

2022-07-12 Thread Rafał Marzec
Exactly screen recognition is very valuable function
But I think that people don’t understand what is it for
It is not useful if you would like to use it all the time with some application
It is useful when some elements are not accessible so you can try to recognise
it and then for example after clicking on it you can turn off screen recognition
It helped me a lot many times when some elements wasn’t accessible

RE: screen recognition

2022-07-12 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Screen recognition does exactly what it is supposed to do when it is needed.
When it is not needed which means in apps which are accessible, it can make
things look weird which is why one should make sure that it is turned off for
all apps unless you know for sure it is required.
In Settings > Accessibility > Voiceover > Voiceover Recognition you should turn
it on, but then go to the app specific listing and make sure it is not selected
for any apps.
Now add it either to the rotor or to Voiceover Quick Settings which is done in
exactly the same way, either go to Settings > Accessibility > Voiceover > Rotor
or Settings > Accessibility > Voiceover > Quick Settings, make sure Screen
Recognition is selected and you can also then drag it into a position of your
choosing.
Now if you are in an app where things aren’t as they should be and you want to
try to see if it helps to use screen recognition you can either turn the rotor
to Screen Recognition and turn it on or bring up Quick Settings and turn it on.
If you find a particular app definitely benefits from it you can go back to
Settings > Accessibility > Voiceover > Voiceover Recognition and select that
particular app in the app listing and whenever you open this app screen
recognition will be active, but it will not be so once you close the app or go
to a different app.

Re: screen recognition

2022-07-12 Thread regina alvarado
Have a question about quick settings. How do you access it to turn on screen
recognition? I don’t think I’ve ever seen a gesture to do so. Yes, if you don’t
turn it back to another setting on your router it will turn on and off very
very easily. I like the idea of putting it in quick settings if I can access it
quickly. Thanks.

Haven’t tried it since I use the native Apple and Overcast to listen to
podcast. But yes now that I think about itit… I?m able to listen the Audible

Net News Wire; it’s free, and very accessible. I used Lire for a time, but it
downloads every single article, whereas with Net News Wire, it’s all done
directly online. It even has several widgets. Also in its Context menu
(double-tap and hold on the app’s icon before opening it), you have an item
which takes to directly to the first Unread post. Hope this helps some.

Hi,

I suggest putting Screen Recognition in VoiceOver Quick Settings instead of the
rotor. That way, it's still easy to access but much harder to turn on by
accident.

It could be more traffic is with that list.

Also, there is blindapp...@groups.io which is more active than this one.

Re: screen recognition

2022-07-12 Thread Donna Casteen
The only thing that comes to mind & is my experience with such behavior; Is it
possible that You are not turning the rotor off of screen recognition after
turning it on while in an app that needs screen recognition to function?

Re: Question about MLB app?

Less, I did the same thing last year to no avail.

  Hi Fred,

Well, I am glad it is working better for you at least for now. I know you use
the Apple TV and you have the MLB app for that, right? I have it on my phone
and I don’t know if it’s the same as the Apple TV which I have as well. I did
contact MLB and asked that they request that the radio feeds be added, but
sadly, that hasn’t happened. I wonder if it will happen next year? We’ll see.
Have a good day.

the radio to get it to my stereo.

  Hi Fred,

Very interesting. I have not experienced that. I always see the current
day by the fall as long as it is close to noon Eastern time. So I am not
certain what’s going on in your case. Sorry you are running into difficulty.

Less, I find this issue to be true, no matter what time of day it is.
Sometimes the app responds and sometimes it does not. I find it usually takes
me 15-20 minutes to get it to do what I want it too.

Actually, there is a reason for this. The feed is not updated to the
current day until about 10 or 11 o’clock Eastern time in the morning. That’s
why you are seeing this. As we stated, you can always go to the next day, but
by the fault you will be on the previous day until late morning. That’s been
going out for as long as I can remember.

Is there an iPhone list with more traffic?

2022-07-12 Thread Kevin Minor
Hi.

I've sent some messages to this list, and have noticed very little messages on
it. Is there a new or different list that has taken over? This can be sent to
my personal email list if felt best.

Thanks in advance.
