RE: VDscanner and Be My AI

2023-11-15 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Now it would be even more amazing if Be My Eyes could cut a deal with Facebook
so you could send a picture from Facebook directly
To Be My AI. For now the only option is to save the picture to your Photos and
then to open it there and tap on Share and select Be My AI. Of course since
often and probably most of the time you wouldn’t want these pictures
permanently, this also means after you save it, send it to Be My AI for
interpretation you then also have to delete it and while it is a work-around, I
wish it could be easier.

Hi. Since BMyAI is a Microsoft product, isn't it ironic that a company like
Microsoft is dependent on IOS for part of its services, by association? And,
since a good portion of the world still uses Android or Windows, this leaves an
important support gap.

Thank you.

Microsoft's Disability Answer Desk is now powered by Be My AI

This sounds very interesting and since it is clearly stated that it does not
replace the option to speak with an actual person I would say this is probably
a good addition.

The new feature is that you can get accessibility help via text message where
the answers to your questions will come from an AI rather than to speak via
video call to a human accessibility support agent.
But it’s not a replacement so you can still initiate a video call to a human
support agent, but the text option with the AI is also available and I can see
that for many questions this could very well be all one needs.

Microsoft has had this calling option through the Be My Eyes app on the iPhone

I don’t know if this new change has anything to do with calling the MS

I have to tell you all, this really just blew my mind, when I seen an option

I got a message after I tapped on the option to use Be My AI to read this scan
to me, saying please wait Be My AI chat is reading.
I quickly heard Be My AI reading the scan image to me, and after that, I heard
a message saying if I want to reply to use the edit field!
Well again, out of curiosity, I sent an message back to Be My AI, thanking
them, and I quickly got a message back saying I was welcome!
Although, I have the Be My Eyes app on my iPhone, but I haven’t downloaded the

I was really blown away to see that feature in the VDS options though.
I am using BDS version 2.0.3 2000300

Right, any app that uses the share feature, export, etc. will have that describe with Be My AI because that is part of Apple's share sheet. So any app that provides sharing options can show up there, like Parcel, Dolby On, and tons more. But that is not a part of VDScan, it is an Apple feature. I hope that makes sense.Richard, USA“Grandma always told us, “Be careful when you pray for patience. * Be Me Eyes is the first to globally deploy AI-powered visual customer
service for individuals who are blind or have low vision through Microsoft’s
Disability Answer Desk.
  * Be My AI™ is an AI tool that helps vividly describe images for those who
are blind, and helps companies provide state-of-the-art description services
for blind and low vision customers.
  * Be My AI™ is providing 90%+ successful call resolution with dramatic
reductions in call handle times. Calls can still be escalated to a human, but
this is only required in 10% of use cases.

Today Be My Eyes is announcing the successful deployment of Be My AI™, a state
of the art visual assistance tool powered by OpenAI’s GPT-4 vision model.
Beginning this month, Microsoft Disability Answer Desk callers who are blind or
low vision can now use Be My AI™ to handle all types of customer service calls,
involving highly complex use cases on everything from Excel spreadsheet
formulas and interpreting product instructions and diagrams, to rebooting a
laptop or installing and updating software, and much more.

This is the first use of AI accepting image inputs to augment traditional
customer service for people with disabilities. In fact, the deployment, which
has rolled out globally, is producing stunning early results that meet what Be
My Eyes refers to as the 3S Success Criteria™:

  * Success: a 90% successful resolution rate by Be My AI™ for Microsoft
customers who try it. Put another way: only 10% of consumers using AI
interactions are choosing to escalate to a human call center agent.
  * Speed: Be My AI™ solves customer issues in one-third the time on average
compared to Be My Eyes calls answered by a live Microsoft agent (4 minutes on
average for Be My AI vs. 12 minutes on average for live agent support).
  * Satisfaction: customer satisfaction ratings have improved with the
implementation of Be My Eyes in Microsoft’s Disability Answer Desk with
interactions averaging 4.85 out of five stars.

“Our new AI-powered accessible customer service model is producing remarkable
results for not only one of the world’s largest and most innovative companies,
but also for a community of blind and low vision consumers,” said Mike Buckley,
CEO of Be My Eyes. “Be My AI™ is the customer service gold standard for
companies that want to assist blind and low vision consumers, and we are
incredibly thankful to Microsoft for their leadership, willingness to partner
on Accessible CX solutions and their help communicating the benefits of Be My
AI™ to other enterprises so we can advance our mission to make the world more
accessible.”

"OpenAI is proud to work with Be My Eyes. They've used our AI models to
significantly enhance the daily lives of people with low vision or blindness,"
said Brad Lightcap, COO at OpenAI. "Their commitment to making technology more
accessible showcases a remarkable blend of empathy and innovation, underscoring
the potential of AI when directed by an understanding of community needs. We’re
glad to see By My Eyes deploy “Be My AI™” successfully.”

How It Works

With the new addition of Be My AI™ at the front end of the experience, blind
and low vision consumers can receive rapid, automated support for
Microsoft-related products and services through AI-based natural language
conversations. Be My AI™ can also provide contextual, advice-based guidance on
the request at-hand. For example, Be My AI™ can guide you through the steps to

This sounds very interesting and since it is clearly stated that it does not

I’ve been struggling with Voice Dream Scanner for at least a few hours. I am trying to send to my inbox what I scanned with VDS from the VDS app, and what I’ve scanned was my Router information.   I check my inbox but nothing shows up.

I used VDS to scan and sent it to my email inbox several times, with no problems, but just not today.
Can someone please tell me what I must be doing wrong?

The scanned information  consist of 8 pages, in which is 5.8 MB in size.  Does that sound like to large for VDS to send to an email?

I’ve saved the information  format in txt as well as PDF, but still I don’t get the email in my inbox.

I have to tell you all, this really just blew  my mind, when I seen an option to have Be My AI to read the information  to me, so just out of curiosity, I had Be My AI to read it to me, and it sure enough read everything!

I got a message after I tapped on the option  to use Be My AI to read this scan to me, saying please wait Be My AI chat is reading.

I quickly  heard Be My AI reading the scan image to me, and after that, I heard a message saying if I want to reply to use the edit field!

Well again, out of curiosity, I sent an message back to Be My AI, thanking  them, and I quickly  got a message back saying I was welcome!

Although, I have the Be My Eyes app on my iPhone, but I haven’t downloaded the Be My AI app yet.

I was really blown away to see that feature in the VDS options though.

I am using BDS version 2.0.3 2000300

I would greatly appreciate some ideas how to send this info to my inbox.

Re: Microsoft's Disability Answer Desk is now powered by Be My AI, the Artificial Intelligence Visual Assistant from Be My Eyes

2023-11-15 Thread Rajiv Shah
Hi. Since BMyAI is a Microsoft product, isn't it ironic that a company like
Microsoft is dependent on IOS for part of its services, by association? And,
since a good portion of the world still uses Android or Windows, this leaves an
important support gap.

Thank you.

Hi,
I made use of this service today, to fix my computer.
It worked beautifully!
I was able to take pictures of screens & have it read via Voiceover.

Thanks,

Microsoft's Disability Answer Desk is now powered by Be My AI

This sounds very interesting and since it is clearly stated that it does not
replace the option to speak with an actual person I would say this is probably
a good addition.

Hi Richard,
I accidentally misspelled the VDS meaning Voice Dream Scanner.
Yes, I've heard a little about the Be My AI, but I was blown away to see that
Be My AI option in the VDS app.
So you're not for sure though why I can't send what I scanned other than maybe
my internet provider.

Thank you.

2023-11-15 Thread janet gross
Hi All,
Microsoft has had this calling option through the Be My Eyes app on the iPhone
for quite a while, but the only difference I guess is now people will use the
BE My AI.
I don’t know if this new change has anything to do with calling the MS
disability help desk though.
So, please correct me if I am wrong.

This sounds very interesting and since it is clearly stated that it does not
replace the option to speak with an actual person I would say this is probably
a good addition.

Carolyn, me too! My husband describes all kinds of things as we drive or eat
out in a restaurant. He will do this without me asking and I love to know what
is around me.

Onetime while eating out with a friend in another state, Don mentioned that
their were canoes attached to the ceiling in a Mexican food place that our
friend goes to often. She was astonished because in all the times she was
there, no one ever told her about the décor. What good do these descriptions do
for me as I can see nothing anymore? The information makes me feel more a part
of the world. I was interested in stuff when I could see and still enjoy the
explanations.

Whatever a person wants or needs is the right thing for them. Not all people
would like what I like. What fun to know your mind works kinda like mine. Lol

I asked Jim what he looked like, when we first started seeing each other. I
want to know what color everything is, what kind of cars everyone drives,
what's in style, all that sight stuff that I don't have now. I want to know
what color the furniture is, what color the floor covering, cabinets and on and
on.

I guess what people look like too, and some of us laugh at my guesses.

You may have a point here as I am interested to know what people look like and
amsurprised when they turn out not to be at all like I'd imagined.
It troubles me a little to realise, as I write this, that I have no idea what
my husband now looks like. If he went missing, there is very little I could say
to help find him.

I agree with Sieghard. My guess, and this is only a guess is that the ones of
us who have had some or full sight are more willing to hear what Be My A I
might say about our expression.

I would agree with Sieghard, but I suspect what Mary and others are getting at
is not what they choose to use or not but what others are using and how that
might affect how they interpret the world based on those AI generated
descriptions. As Mary says though, anytime you're getting a description from
another source, even if it's a sighted person, it isn't going to be free of
interpretation.

Reminds me of a friend of mine in college who was helping me pick out a
greeting card. She told me she would just describe the card to me and wouldn't
be subjective at all. Later on she described a card as "yucky yellow." We had a
good laugh over that, but I didn't get that card.

For those who don't want any kind of interpretation of a description coming
from an AI, I wonder what they would consider an acceptable description. I'd
find it interesting if someone took a response from Be My AI and then
sterilized it into what they would find acceptable. I'm guessing that the more
sterile descriptions wouldn't be nearly as popular and most people find the
interpretation of the image as one of the more interesting parts of the
description.

Anybody who does not like or agree with some of the interpretations of the AI
is free not to use the service.
Just as you may not appreciate it, I have so far felt that even descriptions
which included descriptions of facial expressions were actually amazingly
correct when I asked sighted people to tell me what they thought of the
desdcription and whether they agtreed that the interpretation was good or not.

Re: Be My AI and what it may teach us?

2023-11-15 Thread 'Andrew Walker' via VIPhone
I have carried out accademic studies at some depth into the role of facial
experessions and other types of what is sometimes termed body language.
Firstly it is not possible to determine someone's inner emotional state
from expressions reliably. Just because someone is smiling it does not
always mean that they are happy, it can be just the reverse and smiling is
a type of social signal. It is not even possible to determine that someone
is lying by their body language and facial expressions, although the better
someone knows a person the more reliable this can be. Studies of police
interviewing suspects are no better than random chance at determining
whether someone is telling the truth. The fact that someone can smile for a
photograph just indicates how fake facial expressions can be. Anyone giving
you a description of someone else is doing this through a system of mental
filters and will vary wildly. I take the AI descriptions as much the same
as a real person, that is, with a pinch of salt. I don't mind a degree of
subjectivity since all such descriptions, AI or not are going to have an
element of subjectivity. One of the great things about the AI is that it
determines what it thinks is the most important element of the picture and
appears to give this to you first. This saves time, and it usually seems to
me it gives the people first and then other items as to whether they might
be important or nearer the middle of the picture. This is always going to
be subjective and personally I don't mind it and indeed I find it the most
useful feature. I know others have a different opinion which is fine too.

Re: Be My AI and what it may teach us?

2023-11-15 Thread Ketan Kothari
Hi friends,

I am from India and have been using AI for a while. There are plusses
and minusses in every technology and I am shocked that we are wasting
so much of time for this. Look at it this way. I am able to achieve
quite a few things with AI that I couldn't otherwise. and of course,
we always have the choice not to use it. By the way, I have checked
the description with my sighted friends and there is generally
agreement between them and be my AI. Let us not clutter the group
with discussion that is more about end result of an app usage rather
than its accessibility.

Yes, have experienced this with some shoe polish: I have a small amount of
sight and thought, along with my father-in-law who is sighted, that it was
black; my mother-in-law, also sighted, thought it was brown.

All the best

Yes, it's at the top of your recently played items page. I'd figure it would be
on the discovery page, so I agree, it's hard to find.

Hello all,
I can use the app without any problem, except that I am unable to find any way
to search. Anybody know where that edit field is, if it exists? Thanks.
