Re: InstaCart App

2020-09-06 Thread Mary Jo Partyka
Hi,

I have been using Instacart since the pandemic hit in March and we order
groceries every week. The app is easy to use and the store personnel are
cooperative. The shoppers ask us questions when items are out of stock or not
good quality and give me a chance to reply with my answer. The drivers bring
the groceries to our front door and my husband goes out to get them. m. The
shoppers are nice. One time one of the items we ordered was missing. We
called the support line and they credited our account for the missing item. It
could have been misplaced when the items were being rung up. We are very
pleased with the service.

I sometimes received a dimmed response even when I add something to my cart

Re: Instacart

2020-06-20 Thread Mary Jo Partyka
I usually order from Instacard on my iphone and the thing I learned after my
first order is to make sure you double=tap in all the places where a button is
indicated. You are better off choosing your delivery time when you get to
checkout. Sometimes the Instacard app will tell you one time but the one at
checkout is easier to work with. I hope things get better.

Instacard bases its tipping on what you tipped when you first started using the

Re: My Verizon App and Degradation of #Accessibility is it just me?

2020-04-17 Thread Mary Jo Partyka
Hi, Robin,

I started using the myverizon app to pay my bill and at first it seemed easy
but then it got trickier. I finally decided to do auto pay so I didn’t have to
go on the site every month. It is frustrating that when these sites change,
the webmasters don’t realize that it is harder for blind people to figure out
what to do. It would be easier if they had a mobile app like Bank of America
which I use.

Re: Bookshare on the iPhone?

2020-02-25 Thread Mary Jo Partyka
I believe that you would have to read your books in Voicedream reader. You can
download the book share books if you have a Victor Stream which allows you to
perform this function.

Re: Problem Solved, Guess I like This Phone More Than I Thought

2019-08-31 Thread Mary Jo Partyka
Hi, Bonnie,

I found out by accident that I had lost my Apple Care after having it for two
years. The people at Apple Care explained that people can apply after
purchasing a phone and can request another year at the same time. However,
after that, it disappears. I am on it now because I purchased a new phone. It
should be something that people should be able to have all the time but it
isn’t.

Hi, Bonnie,

I was having trouble with my battery last year and it would normally go down to
20% before the day was over each day. I had the battery replaced last December
but it didn’t work much better. Since I wanted to have a reliable phone when I
was going to the NFB convention, I bought a new one. Do you still have Apple
Care? If you do, the cost of the battery should be minimal.

Re: Theme Question: In What Ways Have Apple Products, or Their Related Third-Party Apps, Increased Your Level of Personal Independence?

2019-05-25 Thread Mary Jo Partyka
Hi,

Since I started receiving Apple products in 2011, I have become more
independent and knowledgeable about what they do. I use my phone with the
screen only most of the time and like the idea of being able to text to people
like everyone else. I enjoy exploring apps and the calendar is a godsend
because my events appear on my phone and my computer at the same time. I have
broadened my music repertoire with the Apple music service and like the idea
that news items are at our disposal the same time other people receive them.
Also trying to acquaint myself with apps that use GPS.

Re: WayAround app and identification/labelling system

2019-04-25 Thread Mary Jo Partyka
Hi, Debbie,

I’m interested in finding out more about the Wayaround app. I listen to Rick’s
countdown every week and have also listened toyour country show on occasion. I
want some kind of labeling system which will be reliable. I usually pin on
color tags or buttons but they come off in the washing machine and I get
confused with colors. I have been using Tap Tap See and Seeing AI to get the
colors of clothing items but am not sure if I am doing it accurately. Any help
would be appreciated.

I had the same problem with the bank of America pays. I will also try the

they claim they would get back to me also and they didn’t. It’s a really
frustrating thing because the mobile app used to be so easy to use. Let me know

Re: Fitbit Question

2018-09-09 Thread Mary Jo Partyka
Thanks, Peggy. Thatseems to be what everyone is sayibg. But I found a prize
for the auction at our convention. QVC had an echo for $69 with the built-in
speaker. Auctioning these things off is easier than making a basket and blind
peole will use them.

Fitbit Question

2018-09-08 Thread Mary Jo Partyka

Hello,

I am looking for a fitbit to auctionoff at our NFB state convention in
November. I have the Fitbit Flex and find it only moderately accessible. Is
there a model which is more accessible for blind people? Do you have any idea
about prices for such items?

Thank you.

I have an Apple TV but don’t know how to work it and would be interested in

have a Disability line but I think the site should be more Accessible and
