Amen. I'm getting frustrated with Siri. But understand this is coming from the silly woman who purchased an Apple Magic keyboard without knowing if it would "really" work with my iphone. Apple keyboard simply do not have a delete key, but there is a way to do that using one of the modifiers and the backspace key. In fact, I was asleep and awakened by it. I live alone and no one else was in my apartment. I also use IPhone 8 with Seeing AI. It works well for me. I do think the color isn’t always accurate. Awhile back, I had the same problem. I worked around it: When Siri asked if I was ready to send, I said, “No, add to it.” This wasn’t the best solution, but it worked. Within a couple of days, the problem went away. I’ll never know why. It’s worth a try. Hi, Is Genious accessible for a person who is totally blind? I need to make some copies of things and email them to someone, and my daughter suggested I might use Genious because, for her, it’s easy to use. Siri not working right
For a couple of weeks now, I ask Siri to call or text someone, or just to read a message, and it says “On it,” or “Wait a minute.” Sometimes it says, “Something is wrong. Yes, after the last update my screen shade was on. I didn’t realize it at first, because I don’t often turn it on. I don’t know why an upgrade would turn it on, but for some reason it did. Hi, I’m going to put my two cents in here, and then I’ll fold my hands and stop using the keyboard. I have made more friends and enjoyed my life far more since I stopped being imbarrased about my blindness and learned how to relax and be comfortable with who I am. But not being able to see even light is only part of who I am. I don’t shove my blindness in anyone’s face, but I don’t cover it up. It’s just part of who I am. I’d rather get from point A to point B with a cane, a dog, or a computer (whatever works best for me) than to have to depend on someone to walk me everywhere. I take help when I really need it, but I try to do what I can for myself. The more we relax with ourselves and with others, the more they will relax with us, no matter what we use for mobility. We’re never going to please everyone. That’s just the facts. And I use a guide dog because I can get where I’m going quicker and safer. I hate using a cane because I don’t use it smoothly. I love my dog, but if the backpack works and isn’t too cumbersome, I’d probably give it a try. I’ve come full circle from the way I used to be, and I’m so much happier now. Yes, but I do both—use the sign and talk with people. Sometimes folks just pat my dog while saying, “I know I’m not supposed to pat a service dog but I just can’t help myself.” With the sign, it happens less, especially in front of other people who have often pointed out the sign. Will someone please clarify the setting “wifi Call?”I am leaving “Cellular” on so that I can make calls when I’m away. If I leave the “WIFI call” on, will I still be able to use my phone on WIFI when home and without WIFI when away? Should I leave it off? Here’s where I think the confusion is: With Windows mail, control + R goes to the sender only, and control +shift plus R goes to all in the group. BUT, when you send something to this list, control + r sends to the group address that goes out to all. Does this make sense? But don’t ask me for the tech explanation because I have no clue. While you have spoken truth, please be aware that Kate is asking for help, not criticism. I’m sure she knows this list can’t give her a magic formula. I admire her for being brave and trying. I see their ads when I’m watching Judge Judy and some of the old shows on Me Tv. That may be more your grandma’s speed (and maybe yours too) then an Iphone. Remember, and a lot of people make this mistake, just because something is designed with blindness in mind, doesn’t mean it is inherently easy to use, sometimes just the opposite can happen. If your grandma wanted to learn an Iphone, then it is set up so that she could do that, but if she doesn’t, and you yourself don’t use one, I don’t know why this idea is so stuck in your head. This community can’t make you or your grandma want to use an Iphone, it can’t make its inherent nature into something you or she will find enjoyable. We can tell her/you how to save a picture the grandkids sent her. We can tell her/you how to text. We can’t make her do any of these things. Given what you’ve said, I’d look at the Lively Flip which seems like it may come with some other services you guys may find useful. Please understand again just because grandma can’t see doesn’t mean this list can hit a magic button and make her the best and most willing iPhone user on the planet. We can’t do this for anybody. Introducing myself and question about Siri
Good morning everyone, I’m new on this list but feel like I know some of you from another list. I have the IPhone 8 and struggle some to use it but trying to improve. My question about Siri: I used to be able to send text messages by voice when away from home. Suddenly, I get a message that Siri is not connected to the internet. I can’t speak my text messages or hear text messages read to me. Has Apple changed something or has one of my settings been accidentally changed? Thanks for any help.
