Re: Accessible Pedometer

2017-03-18 Thread Agent086b
Hi,
I was away and have not been following this thread. The App Itreadmill has not
been updated for several years and when I run it I get a warning that this App
may slowdown the phone.
Hope I am talking about the same App.
Max.

Subject: RE: Accessible Pedometer

Hi,

The simplest mode is the Start button in the middle of the screen which starts
the treadmill. It will not work if the phone is in a case on your belt. It must
detect movement which I learned the hard way after walking several miles with
it strapped in in a holster on my belt instead of in my pocket one day. And the
stop button to the left of the start button, once pressed, will give you
several options including saving and resetting or just resetting. Once you stop
the treadmill you go into history and look at the very top of the list of
numbers to see what each number represents.

For example, Date, time, distance, steps, average miles per hour, calories
burned.

The only part I have found in the app that I cannot use effectively is of
course the graph tab which I cannot see to chart my progress graphically.

I always get a kick out of using it to go to the mailbox because if I stand
still while getting mail out of the box which is a half mile round trip it will
beep at me to remind me not to stand still so I probably look ridiculous
prancing around getting mail out of the box so as to keep it from quitting on
me before I get back to the apartment.

Hope that helps,

Merv

2016-05-10 Thread Ed Worrell
Hello,

You could use Pedometer++ It doesn’t use GPS and doesn’t drain the battery in
the slightest, and best of all it’s free. If you want to support the developer
you can donate or tip I can’t remember which. It is not mandatory as you get
all of the functions in the free version.

Use Walklog, it’s much more accurate as it uses GPS. You can also just check
the Health app, it does keep track of steps walked.

Is there an accessible pedometer app?

2016-05-09 Thread Pinky
Hi Everyone,

Is there an accessible pedometer app to keep tracked of how far a person
walks. I go walking with my guide and would like to track how far I walk.
Any help or suggestions on this would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Accessible pedometer for use with IPhone 6

2015-10-31 Thread Sherrie
I can't remember exactly how I got past this screen. I just tapped until it
had something and went on. I was just interested in the number of steps.
Today I went into settings and had no trouble at all entering height,
weight, step length, daily goal, etc. What I had originally entered was that
I was a 5'11" male who weighed 0 pounds! . LOL.
Maybe you could get assistance getting past the first screen as it is well
worth it since the rest of the app is totally VO friendly.

Hi,

I am unable to set the hight and waight values necessary to estimate your
step length. Without entering these values you cannot continue. Any tips on
how to add these values.

Cheers,
Brett.

Merv

Re: Accessible Pedometer

2014-09-23 Thread Brett
Hi,

Be careful of iTreadmil, It hasn't had an update in about 3 years.

I havn't tested it on iOS8 but on iOS7 it had isssues. You need to have the
screen unlocked to use it, but you could turn on the screen blanking feature to
prevent accedental taps. When this was enabled in iOS7 iTreadmill didn't work

If you only want to know the amount of steps you have done in a day, Pacer
works and unlike iTreadmil, it can run in the background. It doesn't give as
much information as iTreadmil, but for basic step counting, it works and seems
reasonably accurate.

Cheers,
Bret . .

Can you give more info about this app? What are the cost, if any, and the

Hi,

Is this iTreadmill you are refering too? If so, I haven't used it for a
while as I have been slack on the treadmil.

I have found the following bug in iTreadmill which seems to have been
introduced in iOS7. If in settings, you have Screen Blanking set to on,
iTreadmill, It doesn't count steps correctly, if at all. If you set Screen
Blanking to off, Itreadmill will then work correctly.

I am currently trying Pacer, which does run in the background and you can
toggle off location services so that it just uses the accelorometer. It
doesn't show as much information as iTreadmill, but looks good so far and it
is fully accessible.

Hi, not only that, but pedometer apps which rely on gps have 2 flaws. 1,
they don't work on treadmills, 2 they don't work reliably even if you are
walking outside because of how gps doesn't track exact movement and it
can't
figure out where you go until you have moved usually 30 feet or more in
one

direction. What if you decide to do your walking in circles?

Re: Accessible pedometer apps

2013-10-08 Thread Annie Skov Nielsen
Hi.

I also have moves. I am wondering why it thinks that I am cycling. I have not
used a bicycle for years.

Best regards Annie.

Re: Accessible pedometer apps

2013-10-07 Thread Kathy Szinnyey
I recently started using an app called moves. I believe it was free and it is
pretty accessible. You just put it in your pocket and let it record not only
your steps but the amount of time you've walked the calories you've burned and
one other thing I can't remember at the moment. Smile. Sometimes it might not
register very very small box stuff like say, for one minute or so. But I have
found it to be quite revealing about how much or how little I have walked in
the day. I hope this helps.

Re: Accessible pedometer apps

2013-10-07 Thread Sherrie
I have had iTreadmill for ages and never managed to get it to work for me.
What I really want is a pedometer to measure the number of steps I walk in a
day. I always have the phone in my pocket and would really like to have a
pedometer count the steps . When I had a free standing pedometer I walked a
lot more trying to hit a higher daily total but the free standing ones have
a really short lifespan and I went through at least 3 of them.
Will i Treadmill or another one do the step count? I don't care about
distance or time or calories just number of steps daily.

Thanks in advance,
Sherrie Gosling

Re: Accessible pedometer apps

2013-10-07 Thread Wayne Merritt
Thanks for those that recommended apps. I ultimatley decided on
iTreadMill, since though it has a lot of options on what to track, it
also had what I was looking for. Unlike other apps, it does not appear
to use GPS and thus drain battery, which is also good.

Wayne

Also,if the app were free that would be good too. I have an iPhone 5 with

Moves counts steps, tracks distance walked and tells how many calories have
been burned. A very simple app and fully accessible. Oh and it's Free. You have
to have location services turned on for the app to work.

Re: Accessible pedometer apps

2013-10-05 Thread Jeff Samco
I have used iTreadmill for over 2 years. It works very well. It uses
the accelerometer in an iPhone to count steps, so it also works
indoors on something like a treadmill. One needs to set their stride
length so the distance reading is accurate. I use the default and it
is fine for me. It also reads out other data like current speed,
average speed, time, total steps, etc. I bought it for $1.99.

Jeff

think adjusting the height might help it better auto-adjust the distance

Re: accessible pedometer

2012-06-28 Thread Rob Harris
Where do you set those details? I've had it a while and not found them yet.
And yes, I think it thinks of a fixed length stride, and I don't; all
depends on mood, temp, footing like someone said, and so on. But since I
pound the same route a great deal, once it was fairly consistent about
distance, I stopped using it and just watched the clock like before.

Hi, did you customize it with your height and weight? I'm not sure, but
I think adjusting the height might help it better auto-adjust the
distance traveled.

Hi Raul,

One thing I have been wondering about iTreadmill is how to adjust it to
your pace. Out of the box so to speak, does it just assume that
everyone walks a twenty-minute mile? I find that it sometimes under- or
overestimates how far I have gone. For instance, if I'm in a more
traffic-intensive area or one that's got tricky footing, I walk slower,
but the app still seems to think I'm going at my regular pace. Hope
I'm making sense.

Hi, I highly recommend iTreadmill. I use it all the time to walk
outside or on the treadmill. It doesn't use gps and it's very accurate
once you set it to your height and weight. If you check the list
archives, you will find past discussions about this great app.

Good luck.

Hi everyone

I've tried to find an accessible pedometer for my iPhone and have come

find it in the itunes store. I have ITreadmill but there are quite a
few buttons which are not labelled. Basically all I kneed is something
which counts my steps. Does anyone have any ideas of any other apps
which I could download?

Thanks
