Batteries and the StandScan Pro: A Question

2014-10-15 Thread Christine Szostak
Hi All,
I just received my StandScan yesterday and am loving it with KNFBReader!
However, I am having issues with the battery pack and was curious if anyone
else has had this issue or if yours seems to work fine. Sadly, it could be that
I am simply doing something wrong that is really obvious:)! Whenever I put a 9v
battery into the pack, it does not want to close if a battery is inside of it,
nor does the battery want to hook into place like it normally would in most
devices using this type of battery. The pack closes perfectly if no battery is
in side. Also, I noticed the following. If the pack is held up so that the
switch is at the top and the opening is facing you, the right side battery
connection is loose, is this the case for others here? This one may be
defective. If so, I am assuming, that you can purchase just a replacement
battery pack, correct?
Have a great day all!

Re: Batteries and the StandScan Pro: A Question

2014-10-15 Thread Sandratomkins
Christine,
I hope I'm not coming into late here, but you really need the 12 V battery pack
for best results with your new stand scan pro. Also, if you have the mains
adapter and plug the stand scan pro in you will have 12 V lighting which is
most useful in all situations.

Happy scanning,
Sandy

Mine had this same issue. A friend of mine fixed it for me. She had to open it

RE: Batteries and the StandScan Pro: A Question

2014-10-15 Thread Richard Turner
The 9 volt battery pack is awful to work with.

It is very hard to get the battery set in correctly.

If it is defective, they should replace it, but I'd spend the money on the
12 volt battery pack if you want to not have to be near an outlet. If you
will mostly be using it near an electrical outlet, I'd go with the AC
adapter.

This is why I always recommend people go for the Power Bundle directly from
standscan.com as you get the 12 volt battery pack and the AC adapter for a
very good price. I think the last I checked it was $38.95 or $37.95 for the
power bundle.

RE: Batteries and the StandScan Pro: A Question

2014-10-15 Thread Ron Pelletier
Hi Christine,

I remember having a lot of trouble getting the battery in. I eventually did
it but I had to move something and, unfortunately, I don't remember what it
was. I did have a pole that was a bit loose but I squeezed it a bit with a
pair of pliers and that worked just fine and managed after a while to get
the cover closed.

Having said that, get the e-mail from the web site and write to him. He's a
great guy who will send you another one if you can't get it to work.

If he is willing to send you another one free of charge which I think he
will, take it but, if you have to spend any money at all, purchase the 12
volt pack that works with AA batteries and will give you the light you need.
The 9 volt battery pack does not really provide enough light unless you have
quite good ambient lighting. Don't waste any money on it. If you need to
operate with battery and can't use the transformer, do order the bigger
battery pack.

Re: Batteries and the StandScan Pro: A Question

2014-10-15 Thread Christine Szostak
Hi All,
Thanks for the much appreciated help. I think I am going to spend the roughly
$5 to get the upgrade as I love the stand and really like the greater advantage
with the 12v lighting. The main thing I do not like about the AC adapter is
that there is no way, at least from what I can see to turn off the lights
without unplugging it which just seems like an odd step to have to take every
time you want to use it. I have to say I was truly surprised about how
absolutely wonderful it has made the scans and how easy it is to center
everything with it to get really good scans!
Have a great rest of the day!

RE: Batteries and the StandScan Pro: A Question

2014-10-15 Thread Ron Pelletier
Hi,

I have the 9 V battery pack and, believe me, its not worth having them send
you another one. You're only going to get the same thing again and it
really doesn't provide enough light. Would you consider spending around 5
bucks to have them ship you the 12 v battery pack that provides the
necessary light in poor lighting conditions?

Hi,

I am also having difficulty with the 9-volt battery pack and believe they
should replace it. Would someone please post contact information for the
company. I e-mailed them about this problem but didn't receive a response.
Thanks much.

The 9 volt battery pack is awful to work with.
It is very hard to get the battery set in correctly.
If it is defective, they should replace it, but I'd spend the money on
the 12 volt battery pack if you want to not have to be near an outlet.
If you will mostly be using it near an electrical outlet, I'd go with
the AC adapter.
This is why I always recommend people go for the Power Bundle directly
from standscan.com as you get the 12 volt battery pack and the AC
adapter for a very good price. I think the last I checked it was
$38.95 or $37.95 for the power bundle.

Hi All,
I just received my StandScan yesterday and am loving it with
KNFBReader! However, I am having issues with the battery pack and was
curious if anyone else has had this issue or if yours seems to work
fine. Sadly, it could be that I am simply doing something wrong that
is really obvious:)! Whenever I put a 9v battery into the pack, it
does not want to close if a battery is inside of it, nor does the
battery want to hook into place like it normally would in most devices
using this type of battery. The pack closes perfectly if no battery is
in side. Also, I noticed the following.
If the pack is held up so that the switch is at the top and the
opening is facing you, the right side battery connection is loose, is
this the case for others here? This one may be defective. If so, I am
assuming, that you can purchase just a replacement battery pack, correct?
Have a great day all!
