RE: voyager edge headset-RE: Bluetooth headsets with iPhone

2017-11-12 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
I did notice once or twice now that since the iOS 11 release my Voyager Edge
would connect annnd I would hear Voiceover just fine, but as soon as I tried to
play music or an audible book I would hear half a second of sound and then it
would go to Pause. This happened just now and I had to tell my iPhone to forget
the Edge and then after I paired it again it works properly again.

when listening to the ball game on tune In it works only part of the time?

If something is playing then pressing and holding the small button on the side
of the microphone boom will play/pause.
That is the same button you press once quickly to activate the headsets voice
control.

I Have an Edge and it has the physical on-off switch and it says power on or
power off when switching. I don’t understand how there could be any difficulty
knowing if it was on or off.
Now, my question is this: Where in the heck is the play/Pause button? I have
easily located the other controls but not this one which is very annoying for
me. Thanks for any directions on this.

use the Edge on the go quite a lot. And I am very pleased with its performance.
Not to mention its durability. One time I washed and dried it and it still

When the Edge is fully charged it says you have 6 hours of talk time, but while
I never timed it, I think if you just listen to a book you get more than that.
The Edge also comes with a little cradle which securely holds the earpiece and
which has a built-in battery sop if the cradle is charged it will fully charge
your Edge at least once.

So far, I’ve actually found it to be quite comfortable. Much more than the

Hi Richard,

I just tried this by holding the Edge next to my ear but not touching my ear.
When I pushed the power switch up to the on position it still said Power On
followed by the time announcement and then Phone 1 Connected and Phone 2
connected (I have it paired with my iPhone and Apple Watch).
I know that if you are playing audio and take it out it pauses the audio and I
think after a few minutes it goes into a sort of sleep mode, but it seems that
when it is completely off it doesn’t matter whether it’s in your ear or not
when you switch it on.

I agree with Marie, there is absolutely no doubt whether it’s turned on or off
even without the fact that when you turn it on it says “Power On” followed by
how much talk time you have and “Phone 1 connected”.
When you turn it off it says “Power off”, how much clearer and more straight

The physical slider switch is also very easy to feel and engages in a very
positive way, when the earpiece is in your ear push it up towards the top of
your ear to turn it on and down to turn it off.

I’m parcial to the Plantronics earpieces for many reasons, ut one of them is

I never timed it, I think if you just listen to a book you get more than that.
The Edge also comes with a little cradle which securely holds the earpiece and
which has a built-in battery sop if the cradle is charged it will fully charge
your Edge at least once.

I just picked up today the Voyager 5200 which is the upgrade to the Voyager
Legend. It has four mics instead of three with all the other bells and whistles
that go into the voyager line. It’s supposed to have seven hours of talk time.
So far, I’ve actually found it to be quite comfortable. Much more than the
legend. It is huge though. I mean, think of a massive hearing aid attached to a
transformer plastered on the side of your face huge. It is no where near as
discrete as the edge. That and the edge is super simple to slip on and take
off. Also, if you wear glasses, I don’t know how you’d be able to use the 5200.
The edge gives me no problems in this regard. Be it sunglasses or if I wish to
use my trekz headset at the same time with the edge.
There is the Plantronics 3200 which is the newer version of the Edge and I
think I may give that one a try. I work from home and sound quality is an
absolute necesity for me and while the 5200 feels pretty solid so far and has
one extra mic, man,… the size…
It seems that the 3200 also has seven hours of talk time. My experience with
the edge at least is that I can usually get away with two days in between
charging since it’s not like I’ve got it streaming audio six or seven hours
straight. When I got my voyager edge, it also came with the charging case that
is supposed to give you up to two more full charges. I think in the time I’ve
owned it however, I’ve used it maybe twice. I can’t recall the last time I was
out and about and needed to charge my edge on the go.
I’m parcial to the Plantronics earpieces for many reasons, ut one of them is
that they still use an on/off switch instead of a button you have to press and
hold to turn on and off.

That is the same button you press once quickly to activate the headsets voice

Normal use for me is reading E mail, going to web sites and searching for

That also depends on whether you want a single earpiece or one for both
ears. I find when I am out and about walking I prefer to just use a single
earpiece headset, even if I use the wired Earpods I always just put in the
right side when I’m walking. They don’t block much sound, but they still block
a bit so having one ear completely free makes a big difference in my opinion.

What kind of on/off switch does the 5200 have? I like my old Voyager legend

When the Edge is fully charged it says you have 6 hours of talk time, but
while I never timed it, I think if you just listen to a book you get more than
that. The Edge also comes with a little cradle which securely holds the
earpiece and which has a built-in battery sop if the cradle is charged it will
fully charge your Edge at least once.

It seems that the 3200 also has seven hours of talk time. My experience with
the edge at least is that I can usually get away with two days in between
charging since it’s not like I’ve got it streaming audio six or seven hours
straight. When I got my voyager edge, it also came with the charging case that
is supposed to give you up to two more full charges. I think in the time I’ve

I absolutely love my Edge. I have used the charger many times to charge my Edge
three full times between plugging it in to charge the Edge in the charger. I
use the Edge on the go quite a lot. And I am very pleased with its performance.
Not to mention its durability. One time I washed and dried it and it still
works like new. Laughs! I looked at the Plantronics voyager 3200 and it is
tempting. But the Edge is still performing so well I can’t justify the expense
at this time.

That also depends on whether you want a single earpiece or one for both ears.
I find when I am out and about walking I prefer to just use a single earpiece
headset, even if I use the wired Earpods I always just put in the right side
when I’m walking. They don’t block much sound, but they still block a bit so
having one ear completely free makes a big difference in my opinion.

I have the Voyager Edge which sits only in the outer part of the ear like the
Earpods or Airpods and I find it blocks only maybe 20% of the sound if that.

There is no such thing as a bluetooth headset without lag, but the Voyager
Edge is about as good as they get.

The Earpods and Airpods are not meant to go into the ear completely, just
into the very outside. I find it is easiest to put them in with a sort of
twisting motion, don’t hold them vertically so the pointy end where the cable
is attached on the Earpods is straight down, hold them so it points a bit
forward (between horizontally and vertically). Then put them in your ear and as
you do this twist them downwards so the cable is not down pointing to your
shoulder. Of course make sure you put the left in the left ear and the right in
the right ear as they don’t fit well the other way around. The one with the
remote control/the microphone should always be your right ear.

They basically allow for them to stay in your ears. They have protection on
them that keeps them in your ears. And they stay in there very well. I’m using

Not completely wireless is an interesting statement, either a hedset is wired
or wireless, but I think I know what they guy meant if they are the Beats my
wife has. They are bluetooth/wireless, but there is a cable connecting left and
right which makes it harder to loose them and you could easily hang them around
your neck and just use one side.

RE: Bluetooth headsets with iPhone

2017-11-11 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
That also depends on whether you want a single earpiece or one for both ears. I
find when I am out and about walking I prefer to just use a single earpiece
headset, even if I use the wired Earpods I always just put in the right side
when I’m walking. They don’t block much sound, but they still block a bit so
having one ear completely free makes a big difference in my opinion.
I have the Voyager Edge which sits only in the outer part of the ear like the
Earpods or Airpods and I find it blocks only maybe 20% of the sound if that.
There is no such thing as a bluetooth headset without lag, but the Voyager Edge
is about as good as they get.

Regards,
Sieghard

Well my Plantronics will block out sound wen have them on my ears as they cover
both ears. So don’t want that when waling and surely don’t want any lag time
either when needing to use them.

If you want sound to be blocked out, Bose headphones are pretty good. If you
want to be able to hear what is around you, I think Aftershocks headphones are
pretty good.

I own a great sounding awsome pair of Plantronics Bluetooth headphones; but,
notice have a lag time between the time you access them to connect to the
iPhone 8 to access Siri. But, besides that love the sound quality of them and

They are covers over the Apple Airpods, at least the ES2 ones are. THE ES1
version are for standard earbuds.
I watched a video review that spoke highly of them.
They are $10.95 at both Amazon and Earskinz.com

Hi Janet;

I don’t remember how they sounded.

However; I just did not like them.

God Bless

2017-11-11 Thread doug oliver
Actually,
For the AirPods, you can get something called ear skins. They are on Amazon. If
you search E space a space are space SKINZ you’ll find it. Sorry for the way
that my phone spelled that. But I thought I would go ahead and spell it for
y’all. In case you guys are interested. They work for the Apple earbuds by
default, for the lightning earbuds, and the standard SE your buds. Just thought
I would throw this out there. Best, regards,
Doug

Well my Plantronics will block out sound wen have them on my ears as they cover
both ears. So don’t want that when waling and surely don’t want any lag time
either when needing to use them.

If you want sound to be blocked out, Bose headphones are pretty good. If you
want to be able to hear what is around you, I think Aftershocks headphones are
pretty good.

Re: Bluetooth headsets with iPhone

2017-11-11 Thread Ryan Mann
If you want sound to be blocked out, Bose headphones are pretty good. If you
want to be able to hear what is around you, I think Aftershocks headphones are
pretty good.

Bluetooth headsets with iPhone

2017-11-11 Thread donaldrisavy
Wondered which Bluetooth headset is the best for use with the iPhone for use
when walking around and using the phone for navigational help and or
assistance that don't have a lot of lag time to them and that will also be
very comfortable too?

I own a great sounding awsome pair of Plantronics Bluetooth headphones; but,
notice have a lag time between the time you access them to connect to the
iPhone 8 to access Siri. But, besides that love the sound quality of them
and noise cancelling capability too. So would want to try and find somethg
that would compare.

Thanks.
