The two typing modes both have their advantages. Standard typing works a
little better when your trying to type in a car or bus that's bouncing around.

  Connie,

If you really want to just explore the screen and things like the numeric
keypad and onscreen keyboard it may be easier to set your typing mode to
standard. Of course you may already have it set to that as it is the standard.
The other option here is touch typing. If you set it to touch typing then you
can touch the screen all you want to find things, but if you have the keypad on
the screen or the virtual keyboard then whatever you touch is being typed as
soon as you lift your finger off the screen. Most people find this to be more
efficient and faster. In standard typing nothing happens if you lift the finger
off the screen. If, for example, you bring up the telephone keypad and touch
the 5 (it should have a dot if you have the tactile screen protector) then you
would have to double tap on the screen before it is being entered/typed. You
can also find the number you want, leave your finger on it and tap the screen
with a second finger to type it. This is what is called a split tap.

  Sieghard
