Hi Richard, I did respond to Harri's message and it went through as I did see
it on the list. I am using the away mode and orientation is locked. My SE is
the only device I have had trouble with the 3rd party keyboard. Thanks.

Hello,

From what I have seen posted in other places, in iOS10 voiceover will
echo typing with contracted braille. It is something I too have been
wanting especially since BSI supports UEB.

Hmm! Just another thought on this: The Third Party keyboard is, as
I understand it, writing in "real time" so it may be that you're
just writing too quickly for things to stay as they ought. At
least on that phone you may consider ensuring that the mBraille
keyboard is in fact as strategically placed as possible so you can
go for that, rather than the Third Party option.

I know that isn't what you want to do, just as I'd rather not have
problems with mine from time to time, but this may give you a few
things to consider.

Hope it might help a little.

BTW: if you still haven't had any responses from the list itself,
it may be that your message didn't get there, or Harri hasn't seen
it. If he had, he'd almost certainly respond, but he doesn't
always have time to see all messages these days, I don't think.

Anyway, let me know if you find a solution and I'll keep my brain

TThe last I ever heard from Harri on the subject, soon after the Third
Party keyboard came in, was that some apps worked and some, it was
found, were better not to use it. Perhaps you should take this approach
and see what never crashes and avoid those that do!

Hmm! Just another thought on this: The Third Party keyboard is, as I understand it,
writing in "real time" so it may be that you're just writing too quickly for
things to stay as they ought. At least on that phone you may consider ensuring that the
mBraille keyboard is in fact as strategically placed as possible so you can go for that,
rather than the Third Party option.

I know that isn't what you want to do, just as I'd rather not have problems
with mine from time to time, but this may give you a few things to consider.

Hope it might help a little.

BTW: if you still haven't had any responses from the list itself, it may be
that your message didn't get there, or Harri hasn't seen it. If he had, he'd
almost certainly respond, but he doesn't always have time to see all messages
these days, I don't think.

Anyway, let me know if you find a solution and I'll keep my brain ticking as
long as it can ...

Cheers now.

Re: MBraille 3rd party keyboard crashing

2016-08-23 Thread 'Carol Pearson' via VIPhone
Hi Brett,

Well, I have known others say that they have, and I have certainly seen a few
differences now and again, Though not normally, I must admit! Thinking back, I
remember Jonathan Mosen was one of the unfortunate ones who did not have a
phone working at one stage following an upgrade, where many of us had no
problem. When I upgrade, I often am unable to find that the upgrade is
completed, unless my husband calls my phone, at which point it will ring and I
find, of course, that the update is complete. I haven't heard of anyone else
with that problem! Although many experienced double letters with their
keyboards, some certainly did not. This was a long-standing problem and some
still have it. Okay, in that case it may be that only certain keyboards were
affected, but still left us wondering what was going on and what we should do
about it for for a little while! I don't think anybody quite knows why that
problem occurred and, maybe, now, at last, it is solved, but I am not sure!… I
have also noted that some seem to have fairing experiences with the MBraille
app. One will have no problems in using the third-party keyboard, whilst
another is struggling and finds that sometimes they are thrown out of what they
are writing and their work is lost!

I readily accept that there are many reasons for things going wrong and that
"human error" or "software or hardware failure" can cause a problem and these
things can certainly lead to frustration and folk not being able to solve the
problem themselves!

Of course we can agree to differ… And I send you greetings and wish you a very
good evening in doing so! :-)

Did you request a refund through Apple?
They are the only ones who can provide refunds.
itunesstoresupp...@apple.com<mailto:itunesstoresupp...@apple.com>

It is very hard for developers to fix an issue they cannot duplicate. I use
MBraille on three different devices with no issues. But, Harri certainly could
respond far better than he does, no question about that. So, on the customer
service side, I'd agree that his is pretty poor.
But, for me, the app is one of my most used apps by far.
If it doesn't work for you, I think you should get a refund, delete the app,
and stick with Apple Braille input.
Good luck,

RE: MBraille 3rd party keyboard crashing

2016-08-23 Thread Jeremy
I have to agree. I recently wrote the author of Mbraille a very detailed email
message in regards to his app not working well with edit fields in a very
popular taxi app, and his reply? The following four words: "Thanks for the
feedback."

He offered no solution nor any idea as to whether he too can replicate the
problem. This would have been very poor customer service for an app which cost
just a couple of dollars, but Mbraille is about $50 when you purchase all the
add-ons, so the software developer's reply is actually very insulting.

Re: MBraille 3rd party keyboard crashing

2016-08-23 Thread Brett

Hi,

You wont either, at least not from the author. He is happy to take your
money but never gets back when you experience an issue.

Ever since spell checking became available in the third party keyboard
it has never worked for me across two different phones. List members
were quite helpful but I got nothing from the author and haven't
received a refund since its not working as advertised.

All I can tell you apart from spell checking, it does work on my SE. In
my opinion this app is getting more and more buggy each update, I can't
wait to see what disasters iOS10 brings. Lol.

Cheers,

Brett.

Re: MBraille 3rd party keyboard crashing

2016-08-22 Thread SoonerAnnie
Thanks for the ideas and suggestions, Carol! It's not what I want but am
thankful that there are so many workarounds.

I know my message got to the MBraille list because I saw it. :) There's
probably nothing anyone can do, but it would be interesting to hear Harri's
thoughts. Of course, I know people are busy and have lives and everything, so
trying not to be a pain or be impatient. After all, I have the regular MBraille
keyboard, as well as the trusty Braille screen input. :)

Thanks, all! Will let you know if I figure out or learn a solution.

2016-08-22 Thread SoonerAnnie
Believe it or not, I did that a couple of days ago. I had a feeling it wouldn't
help, but tried it anyway...and hoped! Actually, I've only had the SE for about
a month, but like its smaller size, although I still like my 6S very much!

Just FYI - I tried typing this on my MBraille keyboard but only typed a couple
of letters before it went bye bye. So now I'm using the good old reliable
Braille input keyboard! :)

Re: MBraille 3rd party keyboard crashing

2016-08-22 Thread 'Carol Pearson' via VIPhone
I must admit, though I do quite often use the Third Party part of the
keyboard, I do have more occasions when something happens to my text
and/or I can't get the keyboard to set to the next (perhaps I need to
use the onboard one at that time for example but the option to select
another keyboard is not given) The problem with the above senario is
that then, as soon as I go into an editbox, and it may be just very
briefly and I don't actually want to write in it, the keyboard believes
it does have to kick in!

Hmm! Just another thought on this: The Third Party keyboard is, as I
understand it, writing in "real time" so it may be that you're just
writing too quickly for things to stay as they ought. At least on that
phone you may consider ensuring that the mBraille keyboard is in fact as
strategically placed as possible so you can go for that, rather than the
Third Party option.

I know that isn't what you want to do, just as I'd rather not have
problems with mine from time to time, but this may give you a few things
to consider.

Hope it might help a little.

BTW: if you still haven't had any responses from the list itself, it may
be that your message didn't get there, or Harri hasn't seen it. If he
had, he'd almost certainly respond, but he doesn't always have time to
see all messages these days, I don't think.

Anyway, let me know if you find a solution and I'll keep my brain
ticking as long as it can ...

Cheers now.

Hi Richard and Carol,

Thanks for getting back to me. Each time I reinstall the app, I go to shop and
restore purchases, which gives me access to everything as I purchased the full
package. And it restores with no problem. However, no matter what I'm
doing...texting, writing a note, or working with email...the results are the
same. The rest of the MBraille app works just fine. As for the 3rd party
keyboard, it will let me begin typing but I never know for how long. Sometimes
it's a few characters and sometimes I can get a few words. Suddenly without
warning it is gone, taking what I have written with it. I have no idea why this
keyboard seems to be incompatible with my SE!

And, did you make sure it had full access in the keyboard settings?

OK. I don't have an answer but will give it a little more thought for
you if you can think about when it's crashed. In what apps were you
working at the time? Were you trying to transfer information at that
stage? Anything else you can say may help me, or others, to find an
answer for you.

Cheers.
