Re: Navigating google sheets

2017-06-18 Thread Brandon Olivares
I've found that Google has great documentation, and usually just by googling
the question, I can get to the proper documentation in a few seconds.

For instance, by googling how to insert links in Google Sheets, I found a
document that said it's not possible on IOS, but you can do it on the computer.

Everything you mention is quite easy on the Mac. Actually the only one I've
found to not be possible is to move rows or columns. But everything else is.

RE: Navigating google sheets

2017-06-18 Thread Richard Petty
Good. Where have you found guidance for performing tasks such as

· going to a specific cell

· inserting links

· moving rows and columns

scrolling cells, and

more

I would be happy to know either keyboard commands or gestures. Does Google have
directions for this, including keyboard commands? If they haven’t documented
this, has someone else?

RE: Navigating google sheets

2017-06-17 Thread Richard Petty
I'm not aware of a Mac or iPhone solution, although there is a PC-based set of
tutorials from the American Foundation for the Blind for using Google docs and
drive with NVDA and Firefox.

I've read reviews that Google sheets is supposed to be accessible, but I've
downloaded the app and tried to use it and find navigation to be eratic and
difficult.

http://www.afb.org/info/living-with-vision-loss/using-technology/assistive-technology-videos/using-google-docs-and-drive-with-nvda/1234

Hope this helps.

Can you give me some tips for making Google Docs work well? It’s used pretty
often by a website I work for, and I have tons of trouble with it. I’ve tried
both on the mac and on my iPhone, and have very little luck.

You have to put focus on the sheet itself by touching that area, then scroll
down. It shouldn't take too many swipes since generally about 15 rows or so
display at a time.

RE: Navigating google sheets

2017-06-15 Thread Richard Turner
That is the same way Excel works. Each workbook usually defaults to having
three sheets.
Your's is probably all on that first sheet.
There is a swipe up with three fingers command for the braille display.
It is either spacebar+dots 3,4,5,6 or spacebar+dots 1,4,5,6.
But that is going to take an awful lot of swipes to get to row 169.

I've not used Sheets so I don't know if there is a go to cell option somewhere,
but that might be worth a Google search.

Thank you. Is there a way to do this with a braille display? Also, there's
actually 3 sheets along the botom, sheet one, two and three. Don't know how it
works, maybe they have more rows or something like that?

Re: Navigating google sheets

2017-06-15 Thread Brandon Olivares
Okay, basically put focus on the sheet, then scroll down (three fingers swipe
up) until you are at the row you need. If you touch a cell, it'll announce the
coordinates of that cell, and the contents of it.

Read the info you need, then to insert your link, double tap the cell, then
immediately beneath the sheet you'll hear a field that says “formula bar”, and
it'll say “text field”. Double tap on that and add your link. After you insert
it, flick right and double tap on confirm.

2017-06-15 Thread Brandon Olivares
Basically you should be able to move your finger around the screen to read the
rows and columns. If you want to edit one, I believe you double tap it, then
there should be a text field at the bottom you double tap to edit.

here's what i need to do but I cant work out how.

I need to go to row 169 and get the info from there that I need. Then, once I
have written my google doc, I need to place the link to that doc on that row in
a certain column.
How do I do that?

I’d love this information as well. Google docs and sheets are the bane of my

Navigating google sheets

2017-06-15 Thread naturelovingmom
Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone can give me some tips on navigating and using google
sheets? How do I search for a row, and how do I add to the spreadsheet?

Thanks for your help,
Steph
