RE: Notifications when the phone is in my pocket

2019-11-29 Thread Carolyn
All of it. Whenever I try to check the time, I'll get Notification; sometimes,
I'm not interested in a call or the weather or a reminder, just want the time.

Also, you will get a notification if you have a text come in, or if you missed
a phone call.

I think you were thinking of reminders, not notifications.

Re: Notifications when the phone is in my pocket

2019-11-28 Thread Shirley Baker
I find that I'm having to dismiss any text messages or other notifications.
Otherwise, it just keeps coming up and I made sure in notifications that always
is turned off and still am having to dismiss messages or notifications to make
them stop.

2019-11-28 Thread Carolyn
Since I have set it not to speak on locked screen, that could be why my
reminders just do threir little sound, but do not announce - hadn't thought
about that one.

HI Carolyn,

Notifications can come from apps that you've installed that can send you short
spurts of information such as breaking news, weather updates etc. When you
install an app it will usually ask you if you want to allow notifications and
this is where you select whether you want them or not. You can go to the
notifications section under settings and choose whether you want them to speak
on the locked screen.

Hope this helps some!

RE: Notifications when the phone is in my pocket

2019-11-28 Thread Debbie Downey
HI Davy,

I think I solved my own problem. I used to use an iPhone 5S and I usually kept
it in a cell phone holder that was part of a fanny pack with the speaker facing
up so that I could hear it. I now have the iPhone 8 and do the same thing.
Since this phone has 2 speakers, I decided to put it in the holder with the
sensor facing up and I noticed tonight that the notifications were speaking.
I’m learning something new every day with this phone!

HI Debbie

I can confirm this behaviour and I am still a ios12 user I knew this behaviour
was now and then taking place in the 6 years now that I am having iphones.
Sometimes it does occur sometimes not.

Write Apple accessibility about that.

Hi Debbie,

Does your phone have Face ID? If so, there's a setting which makes the phone
respond differently in some situations if you are looking at it than if you
aren't. You may have that setting on. In Accessibility Settings, there's an
Attention feature that determines whether this is the case.

Best,

Anna
