Re: Perplexing Issue With Languages

2023-02-20 Thread Tali Sarnetzky
Thanks everyone.
I will try what you suggested. I haven't found where to change the
default language that is chosen, or rather the default voice, but that
is less important.
Yesterday, without changing anything, it worked alright for a while,
but then stopped working again. It seems to be a bug.

Again, thanks for everyone's help.

Hello,

I think you need both to turn on auto-detect languages and to have the rotor
set to your default language to make it switch.

Hi Lielle,

Thanks, that’s interesting. I have several languages in my rotor, and obviously
I can switch to any of them using the rotor at any time; but I thought that
Tali was specifically wanting Hebrew to be recognized as such automatically
when the rotor language was set to her default English voice, without having to
switch the rotor to Hebrew. You’re right, the automatic detection only works if
the text has been given the correct language tags by the developers. On my

In order the swich languages will work you need to turn "detect languages" off.

The ditect languages works only when you use mail or surfe on a website.

It's relized in language tags and some of the times website developers don't
know about that.

Hi everyone.

I updated to IOS 16.3.1 and it seemed to work OK. I use an SE 2020.

The only issue I have now is that my default language is English and

over, the phone does not recognize Hebrew automatically and reads it.

I have to go to the rotor, find languages, change to Hebrew and only

then can I read it.

I looked everywhere and cannot find a solution. I searched under

languages under general, under spoken content and under voice over and

speech.

Any suggestion would be very much appreciated.

Thanks,

Hi Tali and all.
I have an iPhone too and Hebrew works fine.
Try several things: 1. add Hebrew to your language on your Rotor.
2. turn off "detect languages in "settings", "accessibility", "VoiceOver",
"speach".
I hope one of this things wil help, if it doesn't I will happy to help you
pravetlly.

That's what I have to do now, switch between the languages through
the rotor. It was weird that it worked so well in IOS 15 and not in
this one. And according to the Voice Over settings, there is no reason
why it wouldn't recognize the Hebrew while the English is chosen.
