RE: A Different Headphone Question

2014-05-03 Thread Terrie Terlau
Hello Eric and all of you in ViPhone land,

A while back, Eric gave me wonderful info about the Jabra Halo bluetooth
headphones. I am finally going to buy them as I have a bluetooth PC set up
for music. However, I see that there is a Halo2 as well as the Halo. The
Amazon descriptions say that the 2 has improvements for music, but do not
address whether the physical design has changed. I wondered if any of you
have heard anything about the 2 from anyone who is blind -- I would hate to
get the 2 and find that they had made a change that made the controls
inaccessible. By any chance is anyone using the Jabra Halo 2 and if so could
you please share your thoughts?

Thanks a lot.

Terrie Terlau

Terrie, I have owned the Jabra halo. These are almost like a hairband girls
wear that go over each ear. They are a soft padding. It is almost as though
they took a flat strip about 2 inches wide and bent it to cover your ear, go
over your head and cover the opposite ear.

The sound of these was quite good. They do have a touch strip and buttons
for voice & track selection. It is very easy to get used to using. Also,
they have a cord with a male 3.5 connection to plug-into non-Bluetooth
devices, such as book readers, etc.

I just checked Amazon, and they are $72. There was something that sounded
similar for $49, although I would examine it extremely closely to be sure it
is the same device.

A suggestion would be you ask someone sighted to search Amazon for Bluetooth
stereo. They can very quickly skim the pictures to see if something meets
your requirements. Last, I would suggest you not insist on Bluetooth three
it really doesn't have anything to offer over Bluetooth too. You're one
absolute must be that they have A2DP.

Good luck! I would be interested in what you find. I am still on a quest for
the perfect Bluetooth stereo headphones.

Eric

I also have the Jabra extreme 2 and really like it. It works well with my
iPhone 5. I heard there was some trouble with Siri at first, but that
problem has been resolved.

Take care.

Hi Ed and Terrie,

Ed, the Jabra Extreme 2 works well with the 4S as does the Jabra Supreme
which is the headset I have. However, I do know that a few people on the
list reported the Jabra Extreme 2 did not work with the iPhone 5 for
whatever reason. I don't know if Terrie has an iPhone 4S or 5, but this
should be a consideration.

I will most likely buy a 5S shortly so I guess I'll find out if there is a
problem with the 5S and the Jabra Supreme.

I got mine at Best Buy, it was a Christmas gift thanks to my brother Steve,

depending upon current exchange rates.

Please contact me directly if I can be of any further assistance.

Hi, Terrie. The Aftershokx Bluez may do the trick for you. You can read
about them at Amazon or on their web site www.aftershokz.com. Note the
different spelling before searching.

I did a podcast about these posted at The Blind Geek Zone web site
http://www.blind-geek-zone.net/bgz-audio-postings/, just search by heading
or find the link for Aftershokz Bluez.

Subject: A Different Headphone Question

If any of you know of something that will do the following, it will save
me

a lot of time and heartache searching and reading reviews.

My ideal headphones:

1. Not earbuds because I wear hearing aids; I need flat foam earpieces
that

are on the outside of the ear but do not go into the ear canal.

2. Bluetooth

3. Will be able to connect wirelessly with a blue tooth computer.

4. Will be able to connect wirelessly to the iPhone 5

5. Will have a microphone and a button that will answer and end calls on
iPhone 5

6 Will pick up voice over, phone calls, and music from iPhone 5

Am I dreaming or do any of you know if such a thing exists and what it
might

be called so that I can find it?

Thanks much.

Subject: ear pieces.

Hi all,

Does anyone know of a single ear piece that is suitable for an iphone 4S
all I want it for is to receive calls and text messages. Is it possible
also to get a wireless one so I don't have wires dangling everywhere.
Plus

one that just loops over the ear.

If anyone has any recommendations I would be grateful to hear them.

cheers and thank you.

Also, they are far less than optimal for music. To turn them up enough to
appreciate the music, you will possibly bother your neighbors and probably
create a tickle sensation on your skin. In a loud environment they are not good
for music or voiceover. Also, remember, you cannot use them on an airplane
because they are Bluetooth. There is a wired model.

Re: A Different Headphone Question

2013-09-16 Thread SSEric
Terrie, I have owned the Jabra halo. These are almost like a hairband girls
wear that go over each ear. They are a soft padding. It is almost as though
they took a flat strip about 2 inches wide and bent it to cover your ear, go
over your head and cover the opposite ear.

The sound of these was quite good. They do have a touch strip and buttons for
voice & track selection. It is very easy to get used to using. Also, they have
a cord with a male 3.5 connection to plug-into non-Bluetooth devices, such as
book readers, etc.

I just checked Amazon, and they are $72. There was something that sounded
similar for $49, although I would examine it extremely closely to be sure it is
the same device.

A suggestion would be you ask someone sighted to search Amazon for Bluetooth
stereo. They can very quickly skim the pictures to see if something meets your
requirements. Last, I would suggest you not insist on Bluetooth three it really
doesn't have anything to offer over Bluetooth too. You're one absolute must be
that they have A2DP.

Good luck! I would be interested in what you find. I am still on a quest for
the perfect Bluetooth stereo headphones.

After Shoks Bluetooth ear piece? I heard they are pretty good.
Somebody named, Lisa Belvill did a fantastic podcast on that, but I
can't find it right now. Haven't tried that myself, but heard they
can do all you want. Bluetooth, answer/end calls, not block outside
environment, well, I don't know where they fit in your ears as I
haven't felt them, but I heard they are suitable for hearing aids
though I am not sure. Somebody better chime in to correct me here.
