Oh, my God, yes! I want that functionality back, too! The way it is now is
horrible! File sharing is an absolute mess, too!

I've gotten that too from one person but a couple of others were quite nice
and at minimum tried to be helpful. Don't let the luck of the draw dissuade
you from trying again. That's assuming, of course, that what you want to do
is doable to begin with.

Hi, yep, I'd be very happy! I haven't written on this recently but, to be
honest, I am seriously taking a look elsewhere because I'm sick of the
constant change in the app and the things that are difficult to visualise,
slow to move to and change every time there's a new version, not to mention
those things that just don't work after a new version comes out. It's not
good enough in my book and certainly spoils what I still consider to be the
very best device out there so far as accessability is concerned.

I am wondering if Apple's policy is that everyone who can't manage iTunes,
or doesn't want to bother with it, doesn't have to as they can use the Cloud
and download all the music from - well, guess where!

No, we already have lots of music and want to use it ...

Yes, we still have a Windows PC and the learning curve with a Mac was too
great for me so I gave it up ...

Re: Help with iTunes

2016-07-11 Thread 'Carol Pearson' via VIPhone
Hi, yep, I'd be very happy! I haven't written on this recently but, to
be honest, I am seriously taking a look elsewhere because I'm sick of
the constant change in the app and the things that are difficult to
visualise, slow to move to and change every time there's a new version,
not to mention those things that just don't work after a new version
comes out. It's not good enough in my book and certainly spoils what I
still consider to be the very best device out there so far as
accessability is concerned.

I am wondering if Apple's policy is that everyone who can't manage
iTunes, or doesn't want to bother with it, doesn't have to as they can
use the Cloud and download all the music from - well, guess where!

No, we already have lots of music and want to use it ...

Yes, we still have a Windows PC and the learning curve with a Mac was
too great for me so I gave it up ...

You're welcome to pass this on!

RE: Help with iTunes

2016-07-09 Thread Richard Turner
The latest is 12.4.3...
Most of it is not nearly as usable as it used to be.

I'm not sure if searching for the particular album would get it into focus so
you could do what you want to do. Worth a try.
Then, contact both Freedom Scientific and Apple Accessibility about getting
iTunes back to being more accessible.

Good luck,
Richard

RE: Help With iTunes

2015-05-27 Thread SSEric
Unless I am missing something, can't you just synchronize the phone again
and select the music or play lists you want. All else will be removed from
the phone.

I wonder how the latest ITunes is working with Windows and JAWS. I am using
Windows 7 and JAWS 10 and I am afraid to update ITunes for fear it will not
work anymore. I do have NVDA, so I guess that will continue to work, but I
am not as familiar with that SR.

The best!

Yes, I used the sidebar to check my phone, or to update apps for the most
part, I seldom transfer music, never movies or TV stuff, I don't download

Hi Rose,

The only thing the sidebar was really good for was to go let's say from
Music to Apps or to your Device etc. As far as accessing your various
libraries (music, apps, tones, books, audio books, movies, TV shows etc.)
you can do so even faster by using the Control+1, Control+2, Control+3 and
so on shortcuts.

Hey all,

been playing around with the new iTunes, and had a question. I used to love
the side bar but am getting used to the new layout. I was curious to see if
I could view iTunes on the mac similar to how I view it on the iPhone as I
have a ton of music and am playing around with the artists view and albums.
One thing I noticed and I am sure I am doing something wrong as I am viewing
an artist then album then track name and if I want to play it I hit return
yet some other song in my library plays, yet if I use the contextual menu VO
shift M the option to play the track I am focused on pops up and I hit
return on play. Is there a way to do this where I might not have VO focused
on the right area so I can play the track just by hitting return and not
using the contextual menu. One thing I have noticed is VO j and the table
jumping around in album view does not work as well and you do have to
navigate with VO and do a fair amount of interaction to get to the albums
under the artist, just a thought. Thanks,

I am assuming you are using iTunes on the Mac, not Windows. Maybe that's a
wrong assumption because I don't think you specified this.

Here is what you do. Make sure the music radio button is selected or do
cmd-1 to have it selected. If you are seeing albums, then this probably is
okay.

Also make sure the my Music radio button is selected. This is another set
of radio buttons.

You will then find a pop-up further to the right and I would think albums is
what you are on since you are seeing albums. Do vo-space to open the popup.
However, this is more like a table in a pop-up so don't vo-arrow down.
Instead just arrow to what you want. Songs should be arrowing up once if it
says something like row 2 albums when you open the popup. It seems that
when I open the popup it always shows row 2 albums for me no matter what
the popup is on before I open it but I don'Tt know if this is a default or
has something to do with how I have it set up. Then don't do vo-space to
close the popup; hit return instead. At least this is what works for me. I
think this works whether or not you are having the column browser show or
not. Sometimes you have to vo-right-arrow through the window a couple of
times to get your bearings of where things are. If you can't find something
I'm talking about, post again and I'l give it another try. If I have
something in my view or sorting different from yours, it could cause
confusion in trying to explain it. You should be able to see the table with
all your songs

seems that when I open the popup it always shows “row 2 albums” for me no

a default or has something to do with how I have it set up. Then don’t do
vo-space to close the popup; hit return instead. At least this is what
works for me. I think this works whether or not you are having the column
browser show or not. Sometimes you have to vo-right-arrow through the
window a couple of times to get your bearings of where things are. If you
can’t find something I’m talking about, post again and I’l give it another

RE: Help navigating iTunes 12 with no side bar

2014-10-20 Thread Sieghard Weitzel

2014-10-19 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Jen and others,

I just installed iTunes 12 and played around with it for maybe 10 minutes.
Without spending more time I would say you can’t see your entire list of songs.
I have been using iTunes 11 with the sidebar disaled ever since it came out and
liked it better, but I am not so sure if I like iTunes 12 yet. For one thing I
think it’s a pitty that the column vbrowser is gone, it was such a great way to
filter by genre, artist or album.

Apps, by the way, is under the more tab. Take note of the shortcut keys. They
were already there in iTunes 11 and as far as I can tell they haven’t vchanged.
Here are some of the important ones (this applies to Windows):

Alt+1 = Music

Alt+2 = Movies

Alt+7 = Apps

Alt+8 = Tones

I like how iTunes 12 seems simpler, but as I said, I really liked the column
browser. I might have to sit down with one of these weird people (you know, the
ones with functioning eyeballs) and get them to explain the visual layout in
details as this might help me understand how to make the most out of this. Of
course I might also wait until Jonathan figures it all out and does one of his
awesome Podcasts. OK, are you reading this, Jonathan, Jaws 16 happens to be
almost out of public beta so get to it *smile*.

2014-10-19 Thread Richard Turner
She was talking about whether you are using the latest version on a Windows
computer or a Mac computer.

I think she is making a good point.

I find the explanations for Mac users not very helpful. I'm sure the Mac
users find the explanations for Windows users equally unhelpful.

I'll try to do this if I start another thread about iTunes.

popup. However, this is more like a table in a pop-up so don't vo-arrow
down. Instead just arrow to what you want. Songs should be arrowing up
once if it says something like row 2 albums when you open the popup. It
seems that when I open the popup it always shows row 2 albums for me no
matter what the popup is on before I open it but I don'Tt know if this is
a default or has something to do with how I have it set up. Then don't do
vo-space to close the popup; hit return instead. At least this is what
works for me. I think this works whether or not you are having the column
browser show or not. Sometimes you have to vo-right-arrow through the
window a couple of times to get your bearings of where things are. If you
can't find something I'm talking about, post again and I'l give it another
try. If I have something in my view or sorting different from yours, it
could cause confusion in trying to explain it. You should be able to see
the table with all your songs

RE: Help Downloading Itunes, Please

2012-10-15 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Wren,

Go to www.apple.com/iTunes/

Now click on Download iTunes Now

Once the page loads, you should see something like iTunes 10.7 for Windows
(64 Bit). Of course it may say 32 Bit in your case depending on whether
you use a 32 Bit or 64 Bit version of Windows. In any case, the website
automatically detects what you are using and give you the appropriate
download.

Next there is a email me checkbox which I usually uncheck and also a
checkbox for Keep me up to date with Apple news, software updates, and the
latest information on products and services.. If you use Jaws you can
simply use the x quick key to get to these checkboxes and either leave
them checked or uncheck them. If you do want them checked and get emails you
also have to enter your email address in the edit field that is there.

Lastly, you do have to check your location or check Other and enter your
country if it's not listed as a selection you can check. This is mandatory.
These are radio buttons, so r will get you there and the space bar will
check the selection once you find the correct one.

After that is a clickable link, it is right after a link called Why do we
need this.

It's not a button and it has a long and strange name, for me Jaws reads it
just like this:

Graphic en_US/iTunes_EnUS_DwDL_0902008 clickable

Just press enter on that and if you use Windows 7 you should now be able to
press Alt+N to get to the Run, Save or Cancel options. Can't even
remember how this worked in XP, I think it just pops up asking you if you
want to Run or Save. I recommend to Save it first and then install it rather
than choosing Run. It's very simple, I think you were in the correct place
already, just make sure you select your country and then click the link
below the Why do we need this link.

Good luck,

Sieghard

Hi, and Thank you.

I finally got it, but it took awhile. I had to select the download by hitting
spacebar on the one for windows, and then right underneath that it showed me
the strangely read link you spoke about. I selected that and clicked on it, and
then it worked. I got Itunes installed.

Thanks again for the help.

Re: Help accessing iTunes U content

2012-05-28 Thread Esther
Hello Jerry,

Currently in iOS 5 iTunes U is accessed through a separate free app that you
download from the App Store, similar to the way that iBooks works; you can
browse iTunes U content from that app, and also use it to access your library
of iTunes U. In earlier versions of iOS iTunes U used to be another category
under the Music app on your device, similar to the way podcasts appear under
that app, but now you need to get the separate app to review contents.

If you want to access iTunes U content through iTunes on your computer, you
need to check the box that enables it as one of your displayed libraries. On a
PC I think you can do this from the Edit menu on the iTunes menu bar after
selecting Preferences. On a Mac, one would press Command+comma to bring up
the Preferences menu, and check the box for iTunes U as one of the options
under Show on the General tab of Preferences before closing the dialog
window with Command+W. Then an entry for iTunes U will show up in the
sources list, along with your music library, podcasts, movies, etc.

Be aware that since some of the iTunes U content is taken from regular
university courses, there may be additional download files of notes, etc.
associated with the course material. Also, I recall that some courses, like
the earlier Stanford University courses on programming for the iPhone, were
available in both audio-only and video download formats.

HTH. Cheers,

Esther
