Kindle Store: Buy & Download to your iOS Device

You can shop from the Kindle Store using the Safari browser and deliver
Kindle titles to the Kindle reading app on your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch.
Your device must be connected to a wireless or data network in order to
download Kindle content to your Kindle reading app.

From the Safari browser, visit the Kindle Store website:

· iPad: www.amazon.com/ipadkindlestore

· iPhone or iPad touch: www.amazon.com/kindlemobilestore

1. Sign in to the Kindle Store with the same Amazon account you used when
you registered the Kindle reading app. Browse for Kindle titles you want to
read, and then tap to view the product detail page.

2. To send the Kindle title to your device, from the Send wirelessly to
drop-down menu, select your device. If you don't see your device, make sure
you signed in with the Amazon account registered to your iPad, iPhone, or
iPod touch.

3. Tip: Tap Try a Sample to download the beginning of a book for free.

4. After you purchase content, your titles are delivered to the Kindle app
on your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch. Check your cloud tab.

Likewise, I use codex to convert my Kindle books to epub to read them with
voice dream reader using the Neospeech kate tts. Makes my ipad mini 4 sound

For clarificatory purposes: I use Amazon.co.uk, and 'there's an app for
that'. However, I haven't used the app a great deal, preferring instead to
buy books on my PC, and use the Codex program etc. I must 'sync' the Amazon
settings between the two devices some time. I halso have the Kindle app.

No you can’t. Amazon and Apple do not agree about how much revenue Apple
gets from sales, so Apple doesn’t let you use the Kindle app to buy books.
You can do it on Safari, and it’s quite easy. My Kindle library is proof of
that. Smile.

Yes, at least in the US, you can buy a lot of things on the Amazon app. You can
buy regular print books. You just can’t buy kindle books. And of course Amazon
sells tons of other stuff and you can buy all of that. I’m not sure about
music. My guess is that you can’t buy digital music, but I have not tried.

Also, although there's supposedly an 'audio CAPTCHA, its Web page cannot be
found. We're sorry, blah blah. (Amazon doesn't itself deliver much to
Ireland, where I am; but Kindle books aren't a problem in that regard.)

Can you buy anything else on the Amazon app? Surely you can? (I downloaded
it a while ago, but haven't got into using it. Just checked it there now. It
wanted me to fill in a CAPTCHA, 'to better protect' etc, etc. which I was
not expecting.)

You can do it on Safari, and it’s quite easy. My Kindle library is proof

I use Kindle books on my ipad and just download straight from the app.
Unless there is a certain book I want to buy, then I do get online and
order it from Amazon, I wanted Debby Campbell's book Burnin Bridges,
and had to go to the Kindle store on Amazon and get it, but otherwise,
they have a wonderful list of books you can choose from. Also you can
sign up to BookBub and get daily lists of kindle books to add to your
wish list, and they are either free or no more than $5 or $6, mostly.
I think there's another site out there like that but can't remember its
name.

RE: How to subscribe and use Kindle books

There are several settings that can impact what is read.
I know there is one setting to have it stop after every sentence. There may be
a setting to stop after each page.
I’ve never had that issue.
I will look through the settings and see what I find.
You can set a voice for each book or set a preferred voice that will be the
default.
Other than iOS voices, the rest are purchases. But, you should be able to adjust
which voices you are using under Manage My Voices in settings.

Depending on when you bought the app, you may have gotten one free voice
already.

Richard,
Thanks, I'll have a look and see what questions you create. I have read a few
short things with VoiceDream Reader, but have not had a lot of luck with it.
It's been a while since I used it, but it seems like I was having problems with
trying to get different voices and it would only read a page at a time. Any
thoughts on this one?

If you have a PC, my favorite way to use Kindle books is to install a little
program called Codex on your PC, and convert the Kindle book to an ePub and
read it in VoiceDream Reader.
The Kindle app is quite accessible on the iPhone, but it is more clunky to use
for searches and such to me than Voice Dream.
There are lots of caveats that I hope I included on my web site under Useful

I'm on the road today, but if you don't find what you need about Codex on my

You go to the Amazon website, search in the Kindle web store and find the
book you want. Then once you have found it, you will see on the page where
you have the book information, that if you have more than one place where
you might read your Kindle book, you will get to pick from among the various
devices that you might have. There will be something that is the default. If
that's your only device, then you're good to go. So, for instance, there
would be a papa button which you would double tap, and then you would use
the picker to move among your devices, say Evans Kindle fire or Evan's
iPhone, or whatever your devices are called. Double tap the one you want and
then you buy the book and it automatically goes where you told her to go.
And if you forgot, and book got sent to the wrong device, once you open the
Kindle app on the device you want to use, you can just download it from with
in the app.

Hi Kay, After I sent my last message, I realized that I got the LUA
presentation mixed up with another (from BITS) which I also attended.
The LUA presentation regarding Kindle books and how to read them was
presented by Carla Rushieval. I am sure it was recorded, and I'm also
sure that if you contact Carla or anyone else in LUA's leadership, you
can find out how to listen to the recording.

Again, hope this helps, and happy reading!

2017-11-27 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Same as Audible, it's owned by Amazon and you have to buy a book via your web
browser on the PC or via Safari on your iPhone, but as soon as you bought it
(with your Amazon Id of course) it is associated with that and since you use
the same Amazon Id to log in to your Audible (and Kindl) apps the book is
automatically visible there and available to download. I never even use this
button/control on the website to send my Audible books anywhere, they just show
up. Maybe it's different with Kindl, but I'd just try it, buy the book and then
open the Kindl app and see if the book is there.
In Audible you can also browse books and add them to your wishlist, but then
you just have to go online and complete the purchase for the reason Mary
described.

Sieghard

I use Kindle books on my ipad and just download straight from the app.
Unless there is a certain book I want to buy, then I do get online and
order it from Amazon, I wanted Debby Campbell's book Burnin Bridges,
and had to go to the Kindle store on Amazon and get it, but otherwise,
they have a wonderful list of books you can choose from. Also you can
sign up to BookBub and get daily lists of kindle books to add to your
wish list, and they are either free or no more than $5 or $6, mostly.
I think there's another site out there like that but can't remember its

Re: How to subscribe and use Kindle books

2017-11-27 Thread Mary Otten
You go to the Amazon website, search in the Kindle web store and find the book
you want. Then once you have found it, you will see on the page where you have
the book information, that if you have more than one place where you might read
your Kindle book, you will get to pick from among the various devices that you
might have. There will be something that is the default. If that’s your only
device, then you’re good to go. So, for instance, there would be a papa button
which you would double tap, and then you would use the picker to move among
your devices, say Evans Kindle fire or Evan‘s iPhone, or whatever your devices
are called. Double tap the one you want and then you buy the book and it
automatically goes where you told her to go. And if you forgot, and book got
sent to the wrong device, once you open the Kindle app on the device you want
to use, you can just download it from with in the app.

Hi Mary,
I know I'm probably missing something here, but I'll ask anyway. If I buy
Kindle books via Safari, how does my Kindle app know where to find them so
it can load them so I can read them? Obviously it can, since you've done it
quite a lot. Do I have to move them from one place to another, or tell the
Kindle app to look for them somewhere, or what?

Thanks.

Hi Kay, Library Users of America (LUA) did a phone-in conference call
on this topic about 6 weeks ago. It was excellent -- Maria Kristic and
another LUA member answered all your questions! I think it's available
as a recording. Maybe you can find it on the LUA web site, or if you
call Carla Rushieval, I'm sure she can tell you how to find it.

I have the Kindle app on my IPHone, and so far, I've downloaded and
read one Kindle book; it's Melissa Clark's Dinner in an Instant
cookbook for the Instant Pot. If you have an IPhone, reading commands
for Kindle books are quite similar to reading commands for everything
else.

I think there's another site out there like that but can't remember its
name.

I have the Kindle app on my IPHone, and so far, I've downloaded and

Richard,
Thanks, I'll have a look and see what questions you create. I have read a
few short things with VoiceDream Reader, but have not had a lot of luck with
it. It's been a while since I used it, but it seems like I was having
problems with trying to get different voices and it would only read a page
at a time. Any thoughts on this one?

If you have a PC, my favorite way to use Kindle books is to install a
little program called Codex on your PC, and convert the Kindle book to an
ePub and read it in VoiceDream Reader.
The Kindle app is quite accessible on the iPhone, but it is more clunky to
use for searches and such to me than Voice Dream.
There are lots of caveats that I hope I included on my web site under
Useful Apps.
I'm on the road today, but if you don't find what you need about Codex on
my web site, let me know and I'll reply in more detail this evening. My web
site is www.turner42.com

Re: How to subscribe and use Kindle books

2017-11-27 Thread Richard Turner

If you have a PC, my favorite way to use Kindle books is to install a little
program called Codex on your PC, and convert the Kindle book to an ePub and
read it in VoiceDream Reader.
The Kindle app is quite accessible on the iPhone, but it is more clunky to use
for searches and such to me than Voice Dream.
There are lots of caveats that I hope I included on my web site under Useful
Apps.
I'm on the road today, but if you don't find what you need about Codex on my
web site, let me know and I'll reply in more detail this evening. My web site
is www.turner42.com

HTH,
Richard

All you need is the kindle app on your IPhone. Use your amazon log in
and your golden.
