I just did. I reported that the shift key did not work while typing messages.

2019-09-29 Thread Christina
Also, I don’t think the control key works either in WhatsApp because I tried
the control plus spacebar to pull up the onscreen keyboard so i could try
inserting punctuation that way since the shift key doesn’t work, but it didn’t
work. I did report this to WhatsApp and they responded a few days ago saying
that they escalated it to the developers.

RE: Bluetooth keyboards was Re: IOS 13.1.1 is out

2019-09-28 Thread Richard Turner
As of today, the app store shows it was updated 1 week ago. That would be
before iOS 13.1.1 came out.
I looked at their web site.
To contact them, they say to go to:
Open WhatsApp, settings, help, contact us.
That way you are contacting them from your phone/iPad.

I think this will be the only way to hope to get a solution for those using
WhatsApp.

This clearly sounds like it is limited to WhatsApp, because every single person

Physical external keyboards have worked fine for me through the beta cycle and

Cristobal,

I'd have to agree. iOS 13.0 was released 9/19/19, iOS 13.1 was released
9/24/19, and now iOS 13.1.1 was released 9/27/19. I'm glad Apple is working
quickly to correct issues but I'd prefer they get the major issues resolved
before initial release. I'll bide my time a bit longer before upgrading from
iOS 12.4.1.

Re: IOS 13.1.1 is out

2019-09-27 Thread Mary Otten
I don’t recall there being that much after iOS 12. iOS 12 was the slow down on
the features and fix bugs release. It was one of the more solid releases out of
the gate as I recall. 11 on the other hand, not so much.

Regarding that bug with the phone calls and voiceover going silent. I
understand that the easiest work around is to plug in a lightning cable. It
doesn’t even have to have earbuds on it. Just one of those little lightning
cables with something on the other end like an adapter like you get are used to
get with iPhones. That’s not great. But it beats a showstopping loss of speech.
I think the whole notion of having to release software because you have to
release hardware is in sane. I know they all do it of course. But why not just
well, put off the release of the hardware for a week or two? We’ve seen Apple
put off iPhone releases before. Why not this time. They could have released the
phone a week or two later and had it with iOS 13.1 rather than 13. All the bugs
would not have been fixed, but apparently a lot of them were fixed and 13.1
which should have been 13. Rushing gets you nowhere fast.

On the other hand, whether we like it or not, we who use voiceover are a very
very small set of users. And when they go to fix bugs, they’re going to fix
those which affect more people and are serious, like the battery drain thing
for instance. They’re going to do that before they fix our stuff. It sucks. But
it’s life when you’re a vanishingly small percentage of users. And since this
bug with voiceover disappearing is random and doesn’t affect everybody using
voiceover, maybe they actually haven’t been able to pin down the cause. That
doesn’t make them incompetent. Some people seem to think if things aren’t
perfect, it’s because the company is incompetent. I think those of you who
think that way should go and try to do it yourself and then you’ll find out.
Not so easy.

2019-09-27 Thread Cristobal Muñoz
Ok... but that VoiceOver phone call bug that lots of folks are reporting has
nothing to do with third party apps and is pretty major. I mean, it's not like
Apple would've let that bug go live for 13.0 or 13.1 or 13.1.1 if the screen
were going blank on sighted folks requiring a full device restart after random
phone calls.
The majority of the bugs mentioned I think I could live with, but I'm on my
phone all day for this and that. I can't chance having to deal with that
specific VO bug on my phone after upgrading.
So wait I shall...

Re: IOS 13.1.1 is out

2019-09-27 Thread Andy Baracco
They had to release IOS 13 when they did because they were also releasing
new phones, and they had to have something to put on them. I don't think
you can blame Apple for everything. Some of the fault lies with the app
developers who had adequate time to update their software and they just
didn't do it for whatever reason.

According to Apple's release notes, the iOS 13.1.1 update addresses the

- Fixes issues that could prevent iPhone restoring from backup
- Addresses an issue that could cause battery to drain more quickly
- Fixes an issue that could impact recognition of
Siri
requests on
iPhone 11,
iPhone 11 Pro
and
iPhone 11 Pro Max-
Resolves a problem where Safari search suggestions may re-enable after turning
them off
- Addresses an issue that could cause Reminders to sync slowly
- Fixes a security issue for third-party keyboard apps
There are also separate release notes for the
iPad,

- Resolves a problem where Safari search suggestions may re-enable after

I'm not sure if this does much for us, but you can go get it now. It says bug
