If you do end up buying an Apple Watch (iWatch is not a word) then don't make
the mistake to buy a second generation watch just to save a few bucks. I have
one because that was what was new when I bought it and I often find it a bit
annoying because it's a bit slow when it comes to navigating the watch, opening
apps etc.
I use mine for tracking pool swims, walks and runs and for that it certainly is
nice and works well.
I know Apple is working with several manufacturers of fitness equipment so that
data from the eequipment is transferred to the iPhone or Apple Watch, but I
have never looked into this yet since I prefer outdoor activities myself apart
from the swimming and the occasional trip to the gym at the pool during the
winter if I don't get out skiing.
The Apple Watch would definitely tell you your heart rate and things like
calories burned if you use a stationary bike, but I doubt it would tell you the
distance, but then again the distance on a stationary bike doesn't really
matter, it's how long and how hard you work out what matters.

Hi, I have just received an Apple series 3 watch for my birthday. I like it
very much. Yes you can do a workout on the stationary bike, you just have to go
into the workout part of the watch and set the workout you can even use Siri to
set it tell her what kind of workout you want and start and stop stop the work
out from there.
You if you have any other questions I’ll be more than happy to answer them.

Yes you can set the time I believe you would I would probably use Siri to
set the time for the amount of times that I want I’ve been just doing it
knowing the time I start and just looking at the Watch and having it tell me
how much time has elapsed but I think you can probably set a timer I will
have to try that the next time

I think you can buy it now, of course nobody knows what will happen, but
I
doubt the watch will get a big upgrade if any in the fall and the series
3

is apparently very good. I bought a series 2 in October of 2016 and while
it’s not bad, I find now after a year and a half it’s a bit slow. I did a
reset and set it up as a new device and that helped a bit, but I must say
I’m definitely not 100% satisfied with how snappy it is and from what I
understand the series 3 is much more responsive which of course can be
expected to a point.

RE: apple watch buy or wait?

2018-04-27 Thread Sieghard Weitzel

All this information about the iwatch is very interesting. I was wondering
if you could use the watch if you were exercising on a stationary bike or
even a regular kind of bike. Just like the swimming with exercising on a
bike would it know the distance you've went and tell about your heart beat,
just as it would on the display on those bikes. When I would go on the
exercise bikes in the apartment building I lived in, I wished so much that
there was a talking chip, where you could navigate through the menues as
you could on some of the feature phones or some how that it would work with

I love the SS version, but for that reason I just cannot see spending that kind
of money for a product that won’t last as long.

Given the sluggishness of the series 2 I can only imagine what a series 1 would
be like. It is interesting how Apple succeeds in getting people to buy what are
expensive watches every few years. It used to be that one would buy a quality
watch and have it for many years, even decades or a lifetime. Now Apple has
taken the watch and made it into just another technology gadget which needs to
be updated every 3 or 4 years. When I bought mine I bought the stainless steel
version because I liked the fact that it had a sapphire crystal screen and
sounded just a bit tougher. I do sometimes wear it in my woodworking shop or
when I’m out and about doing stuff and when I had a braille watch I broke the
lid/crystal on a pretty regular bases. I think next time if I do eventually
upgrade I’ll buy whatever is the cheapest model given the fact that one can’t
expect to get 6 or 8 let alone 10 years out of it.

I think you can buy it now, of course nobody knows what will happen, but I
doubt the watch will get a big upgrade if any in the fall and the series 3 is
apparently very good. I bought a series 2 in October of 2016 and while it’s not
bad, I find now after a year and a half it’s a bit slow. I did a reset and set
it up as a new device and that helped a bit, but I must say I’m definitely not
100% satisfied with how snappy it is and from what I understand the series 3 is
much more responsive which of course can be expected to a point.
