Hi, it looks like that works but that you have to hit the home key for the pages to go away. But if an app, for instance, is on page 3 and I want it on 1 or 2, what is the best way to move my hand to accomplish this? Also do I have to move it up one page, stop, and do another move to go up an additional page? Finally, what about simply getting apps in a particular order. I want my new folders next to each other since they will be the most used items I have. Thanks. Re: moving apps and made a mess--please help
Hi Paul That happened to me too before. The easiest way to fix it is to go to settings, general, reset, Reset Home Screen Layout. That way, all the page 1 apps will be in their right place, and you can start moving things around again. To move something to the previous page, drag it to the border. You will hear a sound, and voiceOver will say approaching border. If you hold your finger there, it will go to the previous page. If you keep your finger there it will keep going back a page. - Original Message - From: Paul Ferrara To: viphone@googlegroups.com Sent: Friday, August 24, 2012 1:06 PM Subject: Re: moving apps and made a mess--please help Hi, it looks like that works but that you have to hit the home key for the pages to go away. I don't think of hitting the home key as making those blank pages go away. I think of hitting the home key as taking you out of edit or draft mode. I'm not sure if this helps at all or not. I'd think the easiest way to get something from the 3rd page to the first, would be to make a space on the dock, move it to the dock, flip to page one and then pluck it off the dock. I haven't worried too much about the order of applications yet, but I'd suggest using a folder. Move everything into a folder and then take them out one at a time in the order you want them on your page. Just a thought. RE: moving apps and made a mess--please help
Paul, Yes, pressing the home key will make a superfluous blank page at the end of the home screen go away. Re your question regarding If an app is on page 3 and you want it on 1 or 2, what is the best way to move your hand to accomplish this , If your app is on page 3 and you move your finger to the left most edge of page 3, you will hear VO say, pause for page change, hold your finger there. VO will announce a change to page 2.If you continue to hold your finger there, the app will move to page 1 and VO will announce it. Be patient. When I first started moving apps I thought it was really difficult. Now I can move them at will without creating unwanted folders that I then need to clear out. Re: moving apps and made a mess--please help
I'm still experimenting with how to best organize my iPhone, but I do know that if you remove all of your apps from the last page then that page will go away. Also, when you start moving apps, you get a scratch page created, but that page doesn't stick around if you don't end up using it. One thing to consider is using folders to help organize your apps, even if you're just going to use them temporarily. For example, create a folder on a page just to free up more space so you can move other apps onto that page. Also, create a folder like First Page and then load everything into it that you want on your first page. Move that folder from each page, dropping the apps that you want on your first page into it. Move it to your first page and then start taking apps out of that folder and letting them just end up on your first page. You can also free up a space on your doc and use that to move apps more easily from page to page. RE: moving apps and made a mess--please help
Once these changes are done, and the phone is syncked, will the apps be restored in the modified order if a restore is necessary? Not a big deal; just curious. This is what I found to be the easiest way for me. Once you group the apps to the pages that you want then the other pages will disappear eventually once you get all the apps on same page 1 or page 2 then three and four will disappear Hope that makes sense. Re: moving apps and made a mess--please help
Hi Paul, I find the easiest way to organize my apps is to first start a new page by dragging an app to the edge, which it sounds like you have already done. Now go to the last page, and drag one of the apps in the dock, at the bottom, onto this page. Now find an app you want to move, and drag it into the dock. Now simply find the page you want to move the app to and drag it out of the dock on to the position you want. Now repeat this until your iPhone is the way you want. Once all your apps are in the right position, drag the app that you took out of the dock back and hit the home button. BTW any page or folder you have created will disappear once it is empty. Hope this helps, Chuck On Thursday, August 23, 2012 9:04:18 AM UTC-7, paul.f...@insightbb.com wrote: Hello all, Moved severl apps, some have been put into folders as I wanted; others are scattered on wrong pages. Re: moving apps and made a mess--please help
I've seen this before myself, and I'm trying to remember what the deal was. Make sure you're not trying to move it to a full page or a page that already has a folder on it with the same name.
