RE: siri opening apps

2016-03-25 Thread Alan Lemly
I'm still getting the unpredictability primarily with opening apps. I've found
that if I go into Settings, General and turn Siri off and back on again, she'll
successfully open the app the next time I ask her. This is a pain to have to do
and it doesn't seem to stick before she'll be back to saying "I don't see that
app on your device" or some such thing. I'm not convinced it's an iOS version
issue either but I sure wish I could figure out what causes this and come up
with a workaround.

Can't agree at this point. It's far too constant for it to be a server issue.
The servers didn't change, just Apple's offerings in apps and inability to
surpass the competition. I'm using the same version you are, btw.

I've been getting this Siri unprefictibility a lot lately especially where
opening apps and calling contacts is concerned. I am running Ios 8.3 on an
iPhone 6 but I'm skeptical that the iOS version has anything to do with it.
As Sieghard said, sometimes siri just doesn't work and I think it has
something to do with an issue at the Apple servers.

Thanks, Cher. I'll make sure I have all my playlists created before moving to
iTunes 12 but I'm sure I'll come across many missing iTunes 11 features I'll

Re: siri opening apps

2016-03-19 Thread Alan Lemly
Actually, I'm a big fan of the iTunes sidebar which was discontinued with
iTunes 12. And since Itunes 12 was required for use with devices running Ios
8.4 or higher introduced with Apple Music, I'm holding steady with iOS 8.3
until I come across a more compelling reason to upgrade.

Hi Alan,

There are definitely times when SIRI seems to
perform slower or less reliably, but I am not so
sure if the iOS version is totally unrelated to
that. Just out of curiocity, Alan, why still run
8.3 now that iOS 9 is so stabil and relatively

Hi Alan,

There are definitely times when SIRI seems to perform slower or less reliably,
but I am not so sure if the iOS version is totally unrelated to that. Just out
of curiocity, Alan, why still run 8.3 now that iOS 9 is so stabil and
relatively free of bugs? I guess it won't make sense to upgrade now until 9.3
is released (any time nbetween Monday and Wednesday), but I also don't see why
holding off at this point is a major benefit.

I've been getting this Siri unprefictibility a lot lately especially where
opening apps and calling contacts is concerned. I am running Ios 8.3 on an
iPhone 6 but I'm skeptical that the iOS version has anything to do with it. As
Sieghard said, sometimes siri just doesn't work and I think it has something to
do with an issue at the Apple servers.

SIRI just has issues now and then which usually clear up. However, is there a
reason why you are running one of the first versions of iOS 9 which definitely
had several issues which have since been resolved?

Hi:
I have an iPhone 6s running 9.02 and VO. Siri refuses to open any apps I have
installed. It says there isn’t an app called Facebook on my phone for example.
I reset the phone by pressing and holding the home and power button. I cleared
the ram. I powered on and off the phone. No luck. Anyone esle had that issue?

This is opposite of the topic thread, but I would like to see IOS modify
seri so that you can close apps as well.

I can tell Siri to open most apps without a problem. Open notes
works fine. open settings, general, voiceover does what I want. Can Siri
take me back to the home page, or open the app switcher? My student has
very limited hand movement, and the more words she can use, the better.

Thanks.
