Re: time app with voice?

2020-09-18 Thread dani pagador
I don't always have my phone near me to touch it to get the time, and
don't own a talking watch or an Apple watch. Having the Chime app set
to sound the quarter hour gives me a rough idea of how much time has
gone by. The sound is discreet enough to not bother anyone within
hearing distance.

I'm glad this app will still work with the new iOS. I'll be sad if it
ever goes away.

Re: time app with voice?

2020-09-18 Thread Richard Turner
If you go into settings, display and brightness, and turn off raise to wake, it
will stop telling you the time when you move the phone.
If it is telling you the time during audio books, it is because the VoiceOver
cursor is sitting on the clock at the top, touch somewhere on the main part of
the screen and that should stop.

Well, I can think of a couple situations.
I did counseling for several years, and having something that said the time
every 15 minutes was a nice way to keep me on task so I could wrap up with the
client before running over. I was supposed to stop by 10 til. and after a
session or two, clients
didn't notice the clock going off.
If you are focused on a task, and don't want to have to stop and check the
time, having it tell you even every 30 or 60 minutes can be helpful.
Zy say, everyone is different and what is useful to one person, may not be
useful to you.

2020-09-17 Thread Simon A Fogarty
Richard,

I understand not, why someone would want to know the time every 15 minutes?

I know we’re all different but isn’t it just easier to pick up the phone and
touch the top left corner to get the time to speak?

Hold that thought.
It just spoke the 8 o'clock hour on my SE 2020.
Stay tuned.
In 15 minutes I will write again if it continues to work.

The Chime app is working fine on both of my devices now.

One is on the Gold Master of 14, which I gather is essentially the same as the
release version.

To get this app to work, you have to make sure that in the settings,
notifications, chime is set to be allowed on the lock screen, and have sounds
on.
In the app itself, keep tapping the spot to select on the hour, half hour,
quarter hour, etc., until you are on the one you want.
Then set the time range.
Then set whether you want it spoken or the various sounds.
Then, double tap on the on item.
Then, wait and see.

Hi Richard, I was out and started to hear Chime working again. She goes off
every ¼ hour… Pretty strange that it did that as I didn’t do anything else to
set it up. I am glad I didn’t shell out $4.99 to get the Talking Clock.
Thanks Andy and Shubert

RE: time app with voice?

2020-09-17 Thread Richard Turner
The Chime app is working fine on both of my devices now.

One is on the Gold Master of 14, which I gather is essentially the same as the
release version.

To get this app to work, you have to make sure that in the settings,
notifications, chime is set to be allowed on the lock screen, and have sounds
on.
In the app itself, keep tapping the spot to select on the hour, half hour,
quarter hour, etc., until you are on the one you want.
Then set the time range.
Then set whether you want it spoken or the various sounds.
Then, double tap on the on item.
Then, wait and see.

Hold that thought.
It just spoke the 8 o'clock hour on my SE 2020.
Stay tuned.
In 15 minutes I will write again if it continues to work.

Hello, I have been using Chime with my 6s. Is there a good App that
will announce the time every 15 minutes via voice? Chime seems to not want to
announce. I loved Timely in the past but it hasn't been updated Andy and
