Re: A question regarding the volume of my ringer and VoiceOver

2014-08-25 Thread Alan Paganelli
This assumes though that you have put volume in the rotor. At one time this
was so with my iPhone. However, I spent more time un-doing the accidental
volume change then it was worth. The more things you make available in the
rotor, the more things can get screwed up. So today, I use as few items as
I can manage.

You do what's right for your needs. The way I do it may not be right for
you.

Turn the roter to volume and increase the level. This will make VO

Subject: A question regarding the volume of my ringer and VoiceOver

Hi all,

For the past couple of days my iPhone 5S has been acting strangely when the
phone rings. The ringer volume is good but, for some reason, VO is barely
audible! Heretofore, when the volume of the ringer was pretty loud, so was
VO, but now, not so. As far as I know, I haven't done anything to cause this
to happen, so therefore don't know what to do to fix this most annoying
problem! If anyone has suggestions/ideas, I would very much appreciate
hearing them! I have checked in the menus but am unable to find anything
that would help. I tried turning up the volume as VoiceOver was speaking but
that didn't work.

Thanks in advance,

Ann

Ann, this probably won't result in anything different from what you've
already tried, but have you tried correcting the VoiceOver volume using the
volume setting in the rotor? I would suggest you adjust your volume to the
desired setting using volume in the rotor. Then go to your home screen and
start VO reading everything there with a 2-finger swipe up to test it and
see if it messes up again when you call the phone from your home phone.

Good luck.

Under Settings, Sounds, make sure it says, change with button, off.
That way your ringer volume is only change there in settings.
Then, see if turning the volume up while voiceover is speaking makes a
difference.
My guess is your ringer volume is changing with the buttons.

Ann

Re: A question regarding the volume of my ringer and VoiceOver

2014-08-23 Thread Alan Paganelli
I would try shutting down my iPhone, waiting a bit and then turning it back
on again. I had this strange problem last night. All of a sudden, my
iPhone 5s went silent. I knew there was around three quarters battery power
left in the can so that wasn't the issue. Then I turned on my Bluetooth ear
peace and it connected to my phone. I could hear voice over fine but not
through my 5s. So, I shut down my phone, waited a bit and fired it back up.
All returned to normal. That was the first time I have seen anything like
that sense I bought my 5s last October 20.

Hi Alan,

Unfortunately, that didn't work for me. And also, unfortunately, I have had
the problem you mentioned on more than one occasion and, as you said, just
shutting it down for a bit and then rebooting did the trick.
Disappointingly, not so with this problem. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Re: A question regarding the volume of my ringer and VoiceOver

2014-08-23 Thread SoonerAnnie
Hi Richard,

Thanks for the suggestion, but guess I must be not doing something
correctly. When you do anything with the volume it silences the ringer so
even when VO gets turned up, when I try it, the volume is still very low
when the ringer sounds. Grrr! So far I haven't thrown my phone or begun
pulling my hair out quite yet. LOL!

Try doing that with earphones plugged in.
Then, unplug the earphones and do a two finger flick up and start tapping
the up volume button.
There is something flakey that happens from time to time with the volume.

2014-08-23 Thread Kelly Pierce
Try going into settings/sounds and turn off sound check. This helped
me with my ringer volume. My VO volume was fine. My ringer would
drop down to 10 percent volume or lower for no clear reason.
Normally, sound check normalizes the tracks and albums in the music
app.

Under Settings, Sounds, make sure it says, change with button, off.
That way your ringer volume is only change there in settings.
Then, see if turning the volume up while voiceover is speaking makes a
difference.
My guess is your ringer volume is changing with the buttons.

Try going into settings/sounds and turn off sound check. This helped
me with my ringer volume. My VO volume was fine. My ringer would
drop down to 10 percent volume or lower for no clear reason.
Normally, sound check normalizes the tracks and albums in the music
app.

Subject: A question regarding the volume of my ringer and VoiceOver

 Hi all,

For the past couple of days my iPhone 5S has been acting strangely when
 the
phone rings. The ringer volume is good but, for some reason, VO is barely
audible! Heretofore, when the volume of the ringer was pretty loud, so was
VO, but now, not so. As far as I know, I haven't done anything to cause
 this
to happen, so therefore don't know what to do to fix this most annoying
problem! If anyone has suggestions/ideas, I would very much appreciate
hearing them! I have checked in the menus but am unable to find anything
that would help. I tried turning up the volume as VoiceOver was speaking
 but
 that didn't work.

 Thanks in advance,

 Ann

Noo! I haven't had that setting on since a few hours after I had my
first iPhone! LOL! Because I want my ringer at a certain setting, I don't
want the volume buttons to change them...ever! When I attempt to turn up the
volume while VO is speaking, it turns up everything...but then when I call
myself from my home phone, the ringer is very loud and VO announcement is
still low. I wonder if doing a factory reset would take care of the problem?
Guess I could restore from iCloud...ugh! Thanks for all the suggestions, I
appreciate it!

Under Settings, Sounds, make sure it says, change with button, off.
That way your ringer volume is only change there in settings.
Then, see if turning the volume up while voiceover is speaking makes a
difference.
My guess is your ringer volume is changing with the buttons.

Good luck.
