Re: Big Jambox or Bose Sound Link

2013-01-15 Thread Steve
No, I didn't see and I'm not aware of any equalization schemes for the
Jambox. I've seen posts in the Jambox forum that suggested an equalizer as
a possible update, but I haven't seen it yet.

I suggest using the EQ on the iPhone or iPod, or downloading one of the
graphic equalizer apps and tweaking it that way if you want.

Steve, Did you manage to get anything installed on the Jambox that would
equalize the sound? I've heard this is possible but haven't found anything
on their my talk page except some vaguely named audio skins.

Fanus,

I did a comprehensive review since I have both of them a month or two ago
on

this list, so maybe you could look in the archives.

The bottom result is both have similar sound, although the Bose might be
a
bit more bassy; however, you can get a similar result by adjusting the
phone
equalizer. From a user friendliness standpoint, there's no comparison.
The
Jambox controls talk, you can know your battery level and blue-tooth
pairing
is a breeze, whereas the Bose sometimes can be a bit finicky. The
pairing
issue might not matter if you only use one device with the speaker, but
we

use the Jambox 95% of the time now because of its friendly features.

Re: Big Jambox or Bose Sound Link

2013-01-13 Thread David McLean
The big Jambox is slightly larger than the Soundlink. It does have the
advantage of giving more audio feedback on when it turns on/off, and it talks
you through pairing with devices.
The Soundlink on the other hand has a bit more bottom end to the sound, more in
the Bose tradition, and as stated earlier is slightly more portable.
They are however both easy to use and both do what they do very well.
So anything beyond what I have already said is just a matter of opinion as to
which sound you like better.
You will see a number of reviews on the net about evenly devided between the
two units so I don't think you can go too wrong with either one.
On thing I also forgot to mention is that the estimated battery life for the
Jambox is 15 hours whereas on the Soundlink it's only about 8 hours. So that
could also be a deciding factor if that means a lot to you. Personally I can't
ever seeing playing the device that long on battery strictly anyway.
Hopefully this has given you a few points to consider.

RE: Big Jambox or Bose Sound Link

2013-01-13 Thread Kramlinger, Keith G., M.D.
Steve,

I recall that software upgrades from Jambox folks wasn't easily accessible. Do
you have any experience with this more recently?

Thanks. Keith

Fanus,

I did a comprehensive review since I have both of them a month or two ago on
this list, so maybe you could look in the archives.

The bottom result is both have similar sound, although the Bose might be a
bit more bassy; however, you can get a similar result by adjusting the phone
equalizer. From a user friendliness standpoint, there's no comparison. The
Jambox controls talk, you can know your battery level and blue-tooth pairing
is a breeze, whereas the Bose sometimes can be a bit finicky. The pairing
issue might not matter if you only use one device with the speaker, but we
use the Jambox 95% of the time now because of its friendly features.

 Hello listers
I have limited my choice to one of these but I really don't
know which one. I don't want to start an endless debate but
if a few listers can give opinions. Pretend that both sell
for the same price, which one should I purchase?

 Fanus

Re: Big Jambox or Bose Sound Link

2013-01-13 Thread Casey

Hello I was trying to decide the same thing.
I first got the Bose sound link and tried it for a day or two.
Yes it had nice bass.
But the mids and highs didn't seem pleasing to me.
So I took it back and picked up the big jam box.
And I love it.
It has good sound all around and it can get quite loud with good osund
threw out.
You can also use the big jam box as a speaker phone when you get I call
if you are using your I Phone for music or streaming audio.

Also the big jam box batter runs for about 12 up to 15 houts.
If you can go to a store like Best Buy or a store like that and check
out the both of them and see which one you may like.

But my vote is for the big jam box.

Re: Big Jambox or Bose Sound Link

2013-01-13 Thread Fanus
Hello Casey
Thanks, this is very valuable. Here in South Africa we don't
have the luxury to be able to take an item and test it
first. We have to purchase and then it is just to bad. I now
tend to go for the Jambox also because it has some built-in
speech.

Fanus
