Umm well yeah, if you use GPS that will eat right through your battery. Especially an app like the Seeing Eye GPS which not only uses GPS, but makes VO chatter away constantly. -- Raul A. I used it just a couple of months ago when I had my doctors appointment. He has moved his office space and the office is some 20 to 25 miles from here.My wife doesn't like the GPS system built in to her car so I used my Maestro to create a motorized route. We had no problem at all getting there. I did also use the iMove app to see how it compared. It certainly was no match for Trekker Maestro however, I was only using it to see how well it's street announcements were. The app worked very well for a free app. Regards, Alan I told my psychiatrist that everyone hates me. He said I was being ridiculous - everyone hasn't met me yet. Re: How to increase I phone battery life
Hello to all, Over the years, I have seen the discussion with regard to the screen curtain and its battery saving potential. I know the logic behind the argument that says it doesn't save any battery life. However, I have noticed the following: often, when I am trying to sleep, I plugged my ears into an earphone (wired) and attempt to sooth my worried soul by way of a distracting book. In other words, escapism is a good way to get me to go to sleep! Now, and here is the point, the case on my iPhone has a flap which folds over the front of the phone, if I am using an app such as I like to read, and I leave the screen curtain off, when I wake up, usually about 3 o'clock in the morning, upon touching the phone I find it is hot! But, when I had the screen curtain on, I find the phone is only it's usual warm self. This indicates to me, knowing that heat is one expression of energy, that the phone does use up more energy when the screen is visibly bright. In other words, if the screen is giving off more heat when the screen curtain is off, then more power/energy must be being wasted. I do have a little vision, these days, nevertheless, I find I use the screen curtain most of the time. Just my thoughts, Sandy Sent from my iPhone On 3 May 2014, at 03:51, Sieghard Weitzel siegh...@live.ca wrote: Having the screen curtain on has no affect on battery life. Re: How to increase I phone battery life
That's strange. I'm not experiencing anything like that. I do however remove all running apps from the switcher when I'm not using them. Somebody told me to do that long ago and I've sort of made it a practice. It wouldn't hurt to try it out. Hit the home button twice quickly to open the switcher. left or right to see the running apps. When you hear the name of an app announced such as phone, flick up with 3 fingers to close the app. When you hear the word home, you've closed all open apps. Then just hit the home button 1 time to exit the switcher. I keep my screen brightness set to 30 percent. From time to time my wife wants to borrow my phone and hates it when she can't see the screen. I told her I don't see what your problem is, I can't see it either! Not funny she says! Oh well I tried. I am getting disgusted with the iPhone and its battery life. I left my home this morning with my iPhone at 100% capacity. Sorry, but this is incorrect. iPhone apps have never closed automatically just with the press of the home button. Also, using both GPS and Bluetooth both have a marked impact on your battery, especially if it's for an extended period of time. RE: How to increase I phone battery life
You can Google “iPhone battery saving tips”, you’ll find lots of articles. Some of the more obvious things are to turn off WiFi and Bluetooth, turn off location services for the apps you don’t need it for, turn of push notifications for apps you don’t need it for. Also removing all apps from the app switcher occasionally and turning off your phone and turning it on again helps to clear up things. Setting email accounts to get mail manually or to fetch mail only once an hour or so helps a little bit. Keep in mind that your 4S if it’s one of the original ones, does have a battery which is now over two and a half years old and it won’t be as good as when it was new. Also make sure you are upgraded to iOS 7.1.1 in case you are not, some people report that iOS 7.1.1 has increased their battery life. Re: How to increase I phone battery life
Not sure how much of a difference it makes, but some say that turning on the screen curtain with a 3 finger triple tap has made a difference in battery life. I have mine turned on most of the time, especially when riding home on the bus. I think I've gotten used to it so much that I have to be reminded to turn it off when my wife looks at my phone. Re: How to increase I phone battery life
On my iphone 5s I have to keep location tracking turned off, or my battery drains very quickly. I have to keep a check on this since it will turn itself back on. I had hoped that the 7.1.1 update would fix this, but it has not. I don’t know that others are eexperiencing the same issue that I am having or not. This was not a problem in the past, and why it happens now I do not know. Good luck. RE: How to increase I phone battery life
Having the screen curtain on has no affect on battery life. I asked this question to Apple Accessibility and received a reply that it had no battery saving effect since the screen is artificially blackened, if you set your brightness to 100% it will remain at that level screen curtain or not and it's screen brightness which does make a difference. -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Wayne Merritt Sent: Friday, May 02, 2014 12:49 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: How to increase I phone battery life Not sure how much of a difference it makes, but some say that turning on the screen curtain with a 3 finger triple tap has made a difference in battery life. I have mine turned on most of the time, especially when riding home on the bus. I think I've gotten used to it so much that I have to be reminded to turn it off when my wife looks at my phone.
