Re: Unable To Connect to Internet Away From Home
There's a button amongst wifi settings about always ask to join network on/off; I've never changed mine, but could make all the difference if set to something inappropriate. Mine is off, yours might not be and thus cause that behaviour. RE: Unable To Connect to Internet Away From Home
Hi Wayne, I did try turning off Wi-Fi. This has really got me stumped. I decided to go ahead and reset my phone. I will be out again tomorrow. I will be further away from home too. When I selected the option to reset my phone, I did receive a message that new carrier settings are available. I did install them. Never had this happen with my phone before. Thanks for the suggestion, Lynda -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Wayne gmail Sent: Tuesday, September 03, 2013 6:31 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: RE: Unable To Connect to Internet Away From Home Hi Linda. RE: Unable To Connect to Internet Away From Home
Here's hoping the new carrier install will fix it. I've had a couple of those in the last couple of months and don't recall ever having it happen again. The most recent was with a phone upgrade so I sort of expected that. Good luck! RE: Unable To Connect to Internet Away From Home
Hi Linda, I am still not clear as to whether you were connected to a Wi-Fi when this happened. It is quite possible that if you are connected to a Wi-Fi which doesn't have an internet connection that you wouldn't have one, either. This happened to me a few times when for some reason my provider's internet link was down. My router of course still connected my phone to the Wi-Fi, but there was no outside connection so to speak. In the status bar it said I was connected with good signal quality and when I went, for example, into the mail app I was told there was no internet connection. If this happens and I turn Wi-Fi off, I am connected via 3G and everything works fine.
