Re: iTunes Match Question

2013-10-11 Thread Woody Anna Dresner
Hi,

If you just got iTunes Match, it's possible that not all the tracks in your
library have been uploaded or matched yet. Choose Match in the radio buttons
where you can select songs, artists, etc., and then check the LCD section to
see whether music is still being uploaded. If Match isn't an option, it means
all the music should be available.

Best,
Anna

Hi Anna,

It seems that you were right on the money! Apparently, I still had some 730
songs to be uploaded to the Cloud. For some reason, the first 3,282 songs
uploaded quite efficiently, and then the progress bar showed 100%. I thought
it was done! These last 730 songs seem to be uploading extremely slowly! Is
this normal? If they continue to upload this slowly, I'll be here until next

RE: iTunes Match Question

2013-10-11 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Desi,

These remaining songs maybe songs which weren't matched. As far as I know
songs which are in your library and which match with what iTunes has are not
actually uploaded. They are simply made available via your iCloud/iTuns
Match account. Only songs which iTunes doesn't offer, maybe small local
bands which put out a CD that is not for sale on iTunes are actually
uploaded to your iCloud account.

RE: iTunes Match Question

2013-10-11 Thread Kramlinger, Keith G., M.D.
Once songs have been uploaded to iMatch, can one remove all those songs from
our PC/iTunes, and park them somewhere else in case of future need? Or, do they
need to stay in the PC iTunes library? I mean, is there a risk that songs
previously uploaded to iMatch, once removed from the PC / iTunes library, will
be removed from iMatch? If not, how does one remove songs from iMatch if no
longer wanted?

Thanks.

Re: iTunes Match Question

2013-10-11 Thread Arnold Schmidt
I don't know that the following will help you, but it can't hurt. I had
noticed in the past that for some reason I don't understand, ITunes would
occasionally chop up an album, putting some of the tracks in the album's
list, while other tracks were in other places. This seemed to get worse
with IOS 7. I was quite disillusioned about it, until I found the following.
Under settings, music, turn on the option that says show album artist. I
didn't know what this meant, but now that I have turned it on, it puts all
the tracks for the album together, at least in the ones I have checked that
weren't being shown together before. Also, be sure that show all music is
on. The reason I think it might help you is that, in the settings for
music, it says that it shows information for the music on your device, and
in ICloud.

Subject: iTunes Match Question

Hi Everybody,

I subscribed to iTunes Match recently and mostly I'm loving it, but I'm
wondering if some more experienced users can help me with something. I
chose an album of one of my favorite artists to play while I was exercising,
but some of the song titles seem to be dimmed and when I start playing the
album, the dimmed titles are skipped. All of my music is legitimate and all
of the songs are listed, but I'm wondering what could be going on here, and
how I can get the dimmed song titles to be active? Can someone help?

Thanks!

Desi

Re: iTunes Match Question

2013-10-11 Thread Desi Noller
Hi Arnold,

Thanks for these tips. I'm feeling good because I did have the settings the
way you suggested already!

Now, another question. How long should uploading my music collection to the
iTunes Match service take? It has been about 4 hours since I started this
afternoon, and only 20 songs have been uploaded. I still have over 600 songs
to go! I did check system preferences and turn off my energy saving settings
so that my computer wouldn't have to keep being awakened. Should this be
necessary?
Thanks for any and all help with this!

list, while other tracks were in other places. This seemed to get worse with
IOS 7. I was quite disillusioned about it, until I found the following. Under
settings, music, turn on the option that says show album artist. I didn't

Re: ITunes Match question

2013-04-29 Thread Woody Anna Dresner
Hi,

iTunes Match lets you store 25,000 tracks in addition to any that you buy from
the iTunes store. If you play a track that isn't on your phone, it will stream.
The other option is to choose the Download button for the track, playlist, or
album you want to download, in which case the music will download to your
phone. You can choose to download only over wifi or using either wifi or
cellular. Use the wifi only setting if you don't want to use data to download
music.

Hi,

If the music is in your iTuens library, it will play from there. If it isn't,
it will stream the music unless you choose the download button to download the
track, album, or playlist. This is true on your computer as well as on your

 Hello,
If you purchase the I-tunes match, how much music can you
 have in that folder.
I would like to have access to my entire music collection,
and I do not know if the cloud can hold that much.
Also, if it is in the cloud, when you access it are you
 using data.
 Thanks,

RE: iTunes Match Question

2013-03-15 Thread Sandy Finley
Hi. Someone please correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that if you
want to play music you have stored in iTunes match when off the grid you
need to download it in advance. Some people keep a play list of favorite
songs for this purpose, downloading when they need to be without WIFI for
a protracted period of time and then erasing the playlist from their phones
when they return. I think the real purpose of iTunes Match is not to provide
eternal access to all of our music; rather, to enable the user to store (and
download from the iTunes store) more music than the capacity of the phone
allows. I think there is a limit to how many songs not purchased from
iTunes one can include on iTunes match;; it's some crazy high number that
you and I are not even close to. HTH.

Subject: iTunes Match Question

I know that iTunes Match stores your music in the cloud. Mine works fine
when I am connected via wifi. However, if I am using cellular data, my
songs do not seamlessly stream from the cloud. In fact, if I am, for
instance, playing a shuffled selection from all of my 2000 songs, most will
not play at all and I see a download icon when I swipe past the song
title. Do I have something set wrong? Otherwise, iTunes Match seems
woefully inadequate to me, since I can't get wifi in many of the public
transportation, office and restaurant locations I frequent. Does anyone
have any helpful thoughts?

Re: iTunes Match Question

2013-03-15 Thread Jonathan Mosen
The limit is 25000 songs that you have not purchased from the iTunes Store.
There is no limit to the number of tracks you can have that have been purchased
from the Store.

It depends on what you mean by off the grid. You can certainly stream iTunes
Match content from the cloud over a cellular connection, but it's going to
consume about 2 MB per minute, so you'd want to be on a pretty healthy data
plan. It's also possible to disable streaming over cellular as a safeguard
against you inadvertently using all your data. Yes, you can certainly download
individual tracks or playlists in advance. This is a good strategy if you know
you're going to be out of coverage, or without wifi.

Re: iTunes Match Question

Hello Suzanne,

I would head into settingsgeneralCellular, and make sure the
iTunes switch is set to on. Having it off will prevent iTunes Match
content from being downloaded using your cellular data connection to
save on bandwidth.

Cheers,

Grant
