Screen brightness setting not sticking? Has anyone else seen this?
Hi, I have recently noticed that at times my battery degrades a lot faster than usual. Since I don't need to see the screen, I always turn my brightness setting to 0, and this makes quite a difference to battery life. Since updating to iOS8.0.2 I have noticed that the brightness setting frequently changes of its own accord. If you periodically check your screen brightness setting, found in the Control Centre, does it change of its own accord? I am intending to write to Apple about this issue, but wanted to confirm if it is a common bug or one that only effects a couple of people. Hi, make sure that the auto brightness is off. Go into settings, and swipe right until you get to display, and brightness. Double tap on this option, and swipe to the slide, you can adjusted to what you want it to be, swipe to the right, and make sure that auto brightness is off. You will also be able to change the brightness anytime you want from the control center too. Set the screen brightness to z percent in the settings, under visual. That should clear the problem. It's been a while since I looked, but it seems like there is also a setting to automatically adjust the screen brightness. If there is, turn it off. HTH. --- Be positive! Same for me, I have mine set to 0 and that is where it stays. I know you said you have auto brightness turned off, but did you actually make sure it is? Here's the clincher, unless I'm missing something, I'm not finding an auto brightness setting in iOS 8.0.2, Settings, Display and Brightness. Interesting. I wonder if it still exists. Hi Teresa, You are missing something, it’s right there where you said, Settings, Display and Brightness. Top left is the back button, Swipe right once and you are on the heading “Display and Brightness”. Swipe right again and you are on the heading “Brightnejss”. Swipe right once more and you are on the Screen brightness slider and another swipe right takes you to “Auto brightness” which will be announced as either on or off. Well, after a reboot, it still doesn't show for me. Maybe something weird happened when I did a couple of complete resets. If you periodically check your screen brightness setting, found in the Control Centre, does it change of its own accord? I am intending to write to Apple about this issue, but wanted to confirm
RE: Screen brightness setting not sticking? Has anyone else seen this?
That is definitely strange. Is Auto brightness also not there if you move your finger down the screen from the brightness slider? I wonder if the swipe somehow skips across it and I also wonder if you have a chance to ask a sighted person to check what they see visually. What iPhone do you have?
