Re: The GMail app versus the native IOS app?

2015-10-12 Thread Wayne Merritt
If you use labels in the Gmail web interface, the Gmail app lets you
apply multiple labels to a message at one time, which is something
that you cannot do with Gmail in basic view on the web. I used the
Gmail app for a while and the switched back to the native mail app,
mainly because I was not able to access beta test invites sent through
Test Flight in the Gmail app. Whereas, with the native Mail app, the
graphical links hsowed up fine and I as able to accept the beta
requests. Also, having the ability to delete messages with the rodar
is much smoother than finding the delete button in the Gmail app.

Hello, having never tried the GMail app, but hearing it's
great, how is it different from collecting my GMail with the mail app that's in
IOS? I only want the e-mail, and don't care about anything else, so is there a
better or faster interface that I'm missing if I don't use the GMail app?

Thanks,

Re: The GMail app versus the native IOS app?

2015-10-10 Thread Arnold Schmidt
I use the native email program for my GMail account. A few weeks ago, I got a
message from Google, telling me that the GMail app would give me a higher level
of security than does the native email program , and that if I continued to use
the native program, it was, supposedly, at my own risk. I don't know if the
app really does offer a higher level of security, or if this is marketing hype,
but I decided to take the risk and continue with the native email program.

Hello, having never tried the GMail app, but hearing it's great, how is it
different from collecting my GMail with the mail app that's in IOS? I only want
the e-mail, and don't care about anything else, so is there a better or faster
interface that I'm missing if I don't use the GMail app?
  Thanks,
  Matthew

Which can be done, but sadly I don't remember how since it's been 6
months I've touched an IPhone, but will be getting hopefully one soon,
thus refresh our memories?

Re: The GMail app versus the native IOS app?

2015-10-10 Thread eileen . misrahi
Hi,

For the most part, I use the native mail app. However, I do have the Gmail app
installed just in case the native app starts to act up and I that annoying
error message of "can't get mail the server is not responding..." This is a way
for me to begin troubleshooting the problem. Like others, I haven't been
informed that the Gmail app is more secure. HTH.

2015-10-09 Thread joseph hudson
As far as accessibility, you're not missing anything. The only thing that you
will get with the native Gmail app that you don't get with the native IOS app
is push notifications. If you use Gmail on your phone through the native mail
app, you only get every 15 minutes or every hour or every 30 minutes.
