I find that I have to press the home button three times a little faster then I
use to in the previous version but I'm use to it now. So it's not any big deal.

Yes. And the choices are, default, slow, and slowest. It's obvious that
default will require the fastest finger pressing. So, if your a might slow on
triple click home, you may wish to try the slow or slowest speeds.

Re: Tripple click for accessibility not working properly (was) Trouble opening the app switcher under 7.1

2014-03-13 Thread David Chittenden
If one is in noisy environments, or does not have internet access, Siri doesn't
work very well, or at all. In these situations, it would be best to have home
click speed set at the level one is comfortable with. Note: when setting slow
or slowest, it will take longer for apps to return to home screen, or app
switcher to activate, because iOS will need to wait longer before activating
the chosen function of the home button.

Yes, go to settings, general, accessibility, home click speed, and adjust the

Re: Tripple click for accessibility not working properly (was) Trouble opening the app switcher under 7.1

2014-03-13 Thread Regina Alvarado
Thank you David for pointing this home click speed out.I had been ignoring the
difficulties I was having accomplishing double click and triple click home
button. Now much, much easier for me. Think I saw it there, but I didn't think
to see what it would do. Again, thanks for the tip, though I was not the one
who asked originally.

 HI Kimber,

I noticed the same thing last night; it is hit and miss as to whether you
can turn speech on or off with the tripple click home and the same did
happen with double click home to open the app switcher. I did find that if I
tap the home key 3 times very quickly to turn voiceover on or off or twice
very quickly to open the app switcher that it works more reliably.

2014-03-12 Thread Bill Gallik
What I've discovered is that using the Home Button in 7.1 isn't quite as
patient a procedure as in previous iOS versions. In order to launch the app
switcher, I must hit the Home Button twice somewhat more quickly than seems
to have been necessary in pre-7.1 iOS versions. I presume the same is
likely true for toggling VoiceOver off and on.

2014-03-12 Thread RobH!
This is interesting!
Now it is meant to be quick clicks, but isn't there something under
accessibility for motor skills if you can't click that fast?

If reliability can be demonstrated at speed, we could request them slow it
down a bit. There was another issue of this sort which either got fixed or
given an adjuster to moderate it at least. I think mBraille was involved at
the time.

Reduce Motion Setting was RE: Tripple click for accessibility not working properly (was) Trouble opening the app switcher under 7.1

2014-03-12 Thread Alan Lemly
I'm not sure if the Reduce Motion setting you are referencing will affect
the behavior of how quickly the Home button must be pressed to engage the
Apps Center or VoiceOver. I do have Reduce Motion set on my iPhone 5 running
iOS 7.1 and am not experiencing the problem but that could be due to the
speed at which I naturally press the Home button.

Anyway, if you'd like to turn on the Reduce Motion setting, it can be found
at Settings, General, Accessibility. It is the second from the last option
in the first section which is headed Vision. Or you can set your rotor to
headings, swipe down with one finger to jump to the Hearing section, and
then swipe left twice with one finger to be on the Reduce Motion item. You
have to open the item and then set the switch to on.

Hi,

Near the bottom of Accessibility settings (Settings/General/Accessibility) is
an option called Home Click speed. If you're having trouble accessing the task
switcher or toggling VoiceOver, playing with this setting might help.

Best,

Trouble opening the app switcher under 7.1

A thought: if Siri on 7.* can turn VO on and off, the triple-click-Home
isn't so important; so can be disabled without being left stranded.

I have triple click of the home button set to start VoiceOver, and I
have no trouble bringing up the App Switcher on my iPhone 4S.

I think mBraille was involved at
the time.

Re: Reduce Motion Setting was RE: Tripple click for accessibility not working properly (was) Trouble opening the app switcher under 7.1

2014-03-12 Thread Raul A. Gallegos
Hi, reduced motion doesn't have anything to do with the speed at which
the Home button is pressed. However there is a setting which can be
adjusted so the Home button presses are seen if you are a slower presser
in case os motor issues. You can leave it at default or set it to
slower. All of this is in accessibility section of the main settings app
of course.

speed at which I naturally press the Home button.
