Re: Unable to pair instant pot wifi smart cooker

2018-12-02 Thread Jim Ruby
Hi, not sure if this was mentioned but the Wi-Fi is on the role of three
buttons it would be the top one on the first row of three. You to hold that in
43 four seconds to hear a double beep. If you have problems on the app don’t
connect I was told you can hold it in for like 10 seconds and you’ll get a long
beep and that will reset the Wi-Fi so you can try to again. Good luck. I
haven’t had much luck with the app after I got everything . but I haven’t had a
chance to really take a good look at it. Hopefully they’ll make it more
voiceover friendly. Sorry the message is a little messed up using dictation on
the iPhone.

The Instant Pot Smart WiFi does create its own network first and you have to go
to Settings > General > WiFi on your iPhone, connect to it, then return to the
app and complete the setup. This is the same method used by many smart devices
such as Amazon Echo speakers, Ring Video Doorbell, most thermostats etc.

Well as long as the buttons are labeled I can do fine with the app.
Yes I am sure it might need some work but if it's usable it's a go.

This is a very interesting thread. This is the second message saying
there are two distinctly different control types--Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. I
have mine, but have not yet opened it. Will have to be very sure which
one I got before cracking the box open. If it's the older one, I think
I'll be exchanging it for the newer Wi-Fi-connectable model.

If the Wi-Fi model is like the Bluetooth model, you have to press one
of the buttons on the unit in order for it to become seen by the app.
Also, there are two apps, one of which is for the Bluetooth only and
the other for the Wi-Fi model only. So you want to make sure you have
the correct app. I hope they have a customer service number that you

If they did it right, they'd do it like the Amazon devices, where the
device sets up an ad-hoc network, the phone finds it, logs into it, and
does its thing. But with my luck, it's probably just as you say,
requiring sighted assistance to set up the Wi-Fi portion on the pot.

based on what I've heard.

There really isn't though I'm sure they think the app is accessible
since all the elements are labeled. The problem is mainly with
navigation. You just can't move through the options the way you should
be able to while using VO.

I will definitely be emailing their support address and explaining why
I am returning the cooker.

I certainly hope you have communicated with the instant pot people and told
them that you’re sending the product back and won’t be recommending it to any
blind people until they get their crap together and get it fixed so it is
accessible as the old app wise. There’s really no excuse for this kind of thing.

Re: Unable to pair instant pot wifi smart cooker

2018-11-30 Thread Kimber Gardner
Hi all,

So the bottomline on my adventure with the wifi instant pot is that
it's going back to amazon.

I did finally get it paired -- turns out I had the wrong app. The
weird thing is that the wrong app was very accessible, but the right
app was not so much. I want to be clear. The app is probably usable
with some determination, but I just don't have that much. Not for a
pot anyway.

I've cooked for over three decades without an instant pot and I guess
I will continue to do so.

Thanks again to everyone who tried to help.

Hi,

Thanks for all the responses. I have reached out to the instant pot
support email and explained my situation. I found out from youtube
about pressing the button on the pot itself, but when I do I get a
message that says app with a blinking wifi indicator. However the
pairing never succeeds. I am standing right in front of the pot when I
do this. Anyway, I'll see what the instant pot folks say about it.

Regarding the app, it does seem very accessible with the exception of
the recipe area. You can access the recipes by moving your finger
around the screen then double tapping the one you are interested in,
but you can't flick through the list of recipes which makes navigating
a bit tricky. Once in the recipe itself things work pretty well and
all ingrediets and instructions are readable.

I'll let everyone know how this all works out.

Thanks again for the responses.

2018-11-30 Thread Penny Reeder
Contact the InstantPot company, you can do this through the Help
function in the app, and ask for their help.

I do not have the wifi model, but when I couldn't get the BlueToot
model to pair, I asked the FaceBook Instant Pot group for help. The
person who responded told me there was a small button on the front of
the pot that needed to be pressed in and held for a few seconds to
activate the initial connection. After I did this (I needed sighted
help), the Bluetooth connection worked.

Sometimes I have to attempt the whole pairingprocess more than once.
With Bluetooth, it helps to be in front of the actual pot -- not
pairing from another room -- and sometimes it also helps to unplug the
Instant Pot and then plug it in again.

Good luck, I hope you get this to work, and I'm also interested to
know if the app seems to be totally accessible, as it was for the
Bluetooth model.

If the Wi-Fi model is like the Bluetooth model, you have to press one of the
buttons on the unit in order for it to become seen by the app. Also, there are
two apps, one of which is for the Bluetooth only and the other for the Wi-Fi
model only. So you want to make sure you have the correct app. I hope they have
a customer service number that you can call and order to get some help to find
out which button you might need to press in order to accomplish the pairing.

So on the older model which did pair with the Bluetooth he would hold out a
button on the cooker for about six seconds while impaired mode. So I’m assuming
you may do the same thing with the new word cooker check the manual please you
could also call the manufacturer are the instant pot maker’s and see what they
say they will probably help you or go online hope that helps

Re: Unable to pair instant pot wifi smart cooker

2018-11-29 Thread Deb Cook Lewis
Also, since it's WiFi, you probably have to do something to put it on
to your home network first. That part may definitely not be accessible
since you'll have to enter things without any verification from the
device. I wouldn't assume this is anything like the bluetooth model
based on what I've heard.

Re: Unable to pair instant pot wifi smart cooker

2018-11-29 Thread Mary Otten
If the Wi-Fi model is like the Bluetooth model, you have to press one of the
buttons on the unit in order for it to become seen by the app. Also, there are
two apps, one of which is for the Bluetooth only and the other for the Wi-Fi
model only. So you want to make sure you have the correct app. I hope they have
a customer service number that you can call and order to get some help to find
out which button you might need to press in order to accomplish the pairing.

Unable to pair instant pot wifi smart cooker

2018-11-29 Thread Kimber Gardner
Hi all,

I received my instant pot wifi smart cooker today. I downloaded the
app but no matter what I try, I am unable to pair it with my phone. I
go to add a smart cooker, it says searching and after a few seconds I
hear unable to find a smart cooker.

Can someone please help? I'm about ready to pack it up and return it.

Thanks,
Kim
