Re: Wireless Doorbell

Hi,

Just as a thought, doors in brick walls are mounted into a frame. Have you
checked with a professilnal to see if a door bell could be iinstalled in the
door frame? I have owned homes that had the doorbells installed this way.
This might help with your issues.

Re: Wireless Doorbell

2015-02-06 Thread Deb Lewis
I actually was interested in an answer to the original question. We
have a brick house. It is such that we cannot install astandard
doorbell. It is also such based on many experiments that we have been
unable to make any of the so-called wireless doorbells transmit
because of the level of interference possibly from a store across the
street. So if it ws WIFI enabled, connected to our router, and
broadcast through our I devices for example it would solve a host of
difficulties. That's what I'm actually looking for but have never
found.

Re: Wireless Doorbell

2015-02-06 Thread RobH.
Talking of which, and not iOs related, I have door bells built into power
plugs so they're AC powered and live in power sockets around the house. The
bell push has a battery though, and is stuck on with double-sided tape, with
a very good adhesive I might add.

RE: Wireless Doorbell

2015-02-06 Thread Cristóbal
Many moons ago, I had a doorbell like device where you would plug in the
receiver into an outlet and you could carry a clicker. When pressed, the
receiver would make a beeping noise. It had something like a 100 foot range.
Helpful for when you weren't sure if you were in the right driveway or were
dropped off and weren't sure where exactly you were, etc.
I have no recollection of what it was called unfortunately. I wouldn’t mind
having something like that again though.

I have been hunting for a facial recognition app that would let me mount a
web cam or something like it and then my iphone would be able to tell me who
is at the door if I had previously identified my family and friends.

Is this perhaps what the originator of this thread was thinking of?

Does such a thing exist? I have found lots of apps that will unlock your
phone or even certain apps using facial recognition technology but nothing
like what I am looking for.

What exactly would be the benefit of a WiFi enabled door bell? Are you
thinking of something which would you let you unlock your door with your
iPhone? When I think of a door bell I think of a very simple device which
has a button and a bell/ringer. A person comes to your door, pushes the
button and the bell dings or dongs or rings or whatever so you know somebody
is at your door. Such devices traditionally were wired, but many wireless
options are out there now which have a button that has a battery in it and
it sends the signal to the bell/ringer wirelessly. This does, however, not
require WiFi connectivity, it's just like a remote where a signal is
transmitted by one device and received by another.
