Hey, Joshua! I absolutely love my iPhone 13 Pro Max! I can't get over the incredible battery life it has! Hope you are doing well. I'm doing great and having a great summer. I can't believe it's almost over, though. It's my favorite season. Caroline, The iPhone 13 mini has significantly more battery life than the iPhone 7 or 8 and more battery life than the 12 Mini. Last year I compared the 13 Mini’s battery life to that of other iPhones, as some on the list were parroting technology journalists who said the 13 Mini had poor battery life but gave no data to support their claims. If you are concerned about battery life, buy a Slim II by Poweradd. It is a 5,000 mA battery that can charge an iPhone Mini two times before needing a recharge. It comes with a carrying case where I have added a lightning charging cable. I paid $11 without the cable. The battery is the size of two lighters for smoking or a thick lipstick tube. It fits in most pockets. Kelly On 8/29/22, Christopher Chaltain wrote: > Yes, it'll only be possible on newer phones. In terms of actual difference, the iPhone SE 2022 is just over a quarter inch taller and about an eighth of an inch wider. The difference in thickness is so minor, 0.35mm, that it can hardly be expressed in inches, but for those who really care, this would be 0.0138 inches, in fractions it would be 1/72 of an inch. As far as I am concerned I agree with Kelly and I'd take the increased water resistance and newer design with larger OLED screen of the iPhone 13 Mini any day over the SE 2022, but then again I wouldn't buy either one since I hate having a phone in my pocket even one as small as the 13 Mini. Just touching on one of Sieghard's points, but as Apple demonstrated on a few of their iPhones, you can have a home button without creating an entry point for water. They had two phones, I think, where the home button wasn't a mechanical button, but rather an indentation on the phone with a haptic reaction the simulated the press of a button. -- Christopher (AKA CJ) Chaltain at Outlook -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com On Behalf Of Carolyn Sent: Monday, August 29, 2022 9:16 AM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: RE: thoughts on SE3 I agree with you, Sieghard about phones for the future - think that the Home Button is going bye bye. -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Sieghard Weitzel Sent: Sunday, August 28, 2022 8:47 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: RE: thoughts on SE3 Actually the IPX rating states 6 metres for up to 30 minutes which is approx. 20 feet. Of course such good water resistance can only be achieved if there are fewer points where water can enter. I heard that physical SIM cards may also soon be a thing of the past with e-SIM taking over, then it's long been rumoured that at some point the iPhone won't have any more connector at all and if then the volume buttons and the side button are appropriately designed we could be looking at an iPhone which may become the scuba divers new underwater camera. Also the weight is only 4 grams different, once again not anything you could ever notice if you held one phone in one hand and the other in your other hand. Of course there is the silly home button which some people think they can't live without, but of course will have to live without in a few years after the shiny new iPhone SE 2022 they may buy now has to be replaced and there will just not be another model with home button. I agree with you, Sieghard about phones for the future - think that the Home Button is going bye bye. 20 feet. As for Touch Id it will be one of the things of the past in my opinion. There have been rumours ever since Face Id was introduced in 2017 that one day there will be an iPhone which has Face Id and under-display Touch Id meaning your finger print will be read by a sensor embedded in a particular area under the screen, but it's not going to be part of the iPhone 14 this year and while one should never say never, I have a feeling it has gone the way of the 3.5mm headphone jack. After all, most scuba diving is done in 40 feet or less and a recreational diver stays down maybe 55 minutes to an hour at the most with a single tank so that isn't so far fetched. -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com On Behalf Of bentleyj1...@gmail.com Sent: Sunday, August 28, 2022 4:30 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: RE: thoughts on SE3 I have not used a 13 mini. Joshua just my opinion you don't need all your bard books on your phone. Have them saved and download as you want to read them. This would allow you to get a phone such as the SE3. -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com On Behalf Of Joshua Hendrickson Sent: Monday, August 29, 2022 4:53 AM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: thoughts on SE3 The reason why I got a 13 pro max phone was because of the better battery life and more internal storage. My iPhone 8, just didn't have that good a battery in it. Although I swear the battery I had in my 8 originally was better then the battery that I had to get replaced at best buy. My iPhone 8 has 256 gigs of storage. The SE3 while still having the home button also doesn't have enough storage for me. If I didn't have 217 gigs worth of bard books on my old iPhone 8, I probably would have gotten a SE3 phone. Also, while the 13 mini is a small phone and can fit in a pocket, I don't think I'd like the battery life on it. I am amazed at how much time I can get out of my 13 pro max. I can easily listen to downloaded dramatized books, or stream movies and still have great battery life. This wasn't possible with my old 8. The reason why I'm still hanging on to my 8 phone is because it contains all my downloaded bard books. As for face ID verses touch ID, I honestly like touch ID better. I can get face ID to work, and I really didn't have trouble setting it up. However, if you don't have your face pointed in the wright direction the face ID won't work correctly. I have the one terabyte model of 13 pro max. A very good friend of mine sent me the money to purchase my new phone via wire transfer which was kind of cool. You still have a mute button, two volume buttons, a lock button and speaker grills. From what I've read, the key to making smart phones water resistant isn't by keeping water out but rather by keeping water from damaging internal components. -- Christopher (AKA CJ) Chaltain at Outlook -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com On Behalf Of bentleyj1...@gmail.com Sent: Sunday, August 28, 2022 8:18 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: RE: thoughts on SE3 A tech support guy from Apple told me around 2 months ago that the sim card is definitely on the way out in favor of E sim. RE: thoughts on SE3
A tech support guy from Apple told me around 2 months ago that the sim card is definitely on the way out in favor of E sim. I would guess that the sim slot is the first place that water might enterr. I wouldn't care if my finger print sensor is under the screen, I just prefer the Touch ID over face recognition. I'm not sure how long it takes for technology to double these days but I would not be surprised if smart phones don't recognize users via DNA at some point in the future. RE: thoughts on SE3
Hello Holly, Correct, but physically the 13 Mini is still a tiny bit smaller than the SE despite the larger screen. This is possible primarily because the 13 Mini doesn't have a home button which takes up a lot of space on the bottom. Purely on specs the 13 Mini is less tall, less wide, less thick and it weighs less although thickness and weight differences are so small as to be only detectable with a caliper and a good scale. The largest difference is in the height/length where the 13 Mini is a bit more than a quarter inch shorter. -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com On Behalf Of Holly Sent: Sunday, August 28, 2022 1:13 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: thoughts on SE3 Kelly: Actually, the SE 3 has a display of 4.7" compared to the 13 mini which has a 5.4 display. -- The following information is important for all members of the V iPhone list. The size difference is minor, I have put the dimensions and weights as well as IPX rating below as this can be easily looked up by doing a Google search for "iPhone 13 Mini specifications" or "iPhone SE 2022 specifications", but let's not forget that despite the slightly smaller size of the iPhone 13 Mini it has a larger screen than the iPhone SE 2022 and it is significantly more water proof. The phone is not small. If you want a smaller size phone, then go for the 13 Mini like I did. I can carry the Mini easily in any pocket. I’m very pleased with mine. I needed to upgrade as my old Se was having battery issues and had resigned myself to having to have an iPhone without a home button so was pleasantly surprised. The battery life is certainly much better but I’ve not experimented to find out just how long it does last. RE: thoughts on SE3
I get about 2 days. But I’m not on my phone all the time. We have a land line, so I use that for calls when at home. I prefer to use my laptop for the Internet. My iPhone is used for listening to an occasional podcast, reading an occasional book, checking weather, banking, occasionally reading a product label, etc. We haven’t traveled since getting this phone, so I don’t know how much the maps would drain the battery. Battery life is going to depend on how, and how much you use your phone.
