Re: Using iPhone with Wi-Fi calling?
I have an iPhone six. I have Wi-Fi calling turned on on yet and my current iPhone. I can receive calls on the iPhone 6 and actually answer calls but I can’t make calls from that iPhone. Guess I never paid much attention to the bottom of this page. I now have it set to ask before joining networks and hot spots. Re: wi-fi calling how to use it
I use Verizon, I assume the other carriers are the same. Whenever WIFI calling is being used, the icon in my status bar changes from Verizon network to VZW WIFI network. But the verizon signal has to drop below 3 out of 5 bars before WIFI calling comes on. I have never tried turning off cellular data on purpose to see if it would force WIFI calling to come on. RE: wi-fi calling
Hi Marcy, I couldn't get my wifi calling to work either until I went to AT&T and insisted they figure out what was going on. Evidently I had free 411 associated with my phone number. I had signed up for it years ago. It was free because I am blind and it was grandfathered in on my account. I guess it is no longer offered in the same way. Either way I had forgotten about it and never used it. They removed it from my account because it conflicted with the wifi calling. I know it sounds weird and I couldn't follow the whys and hows but my wifi calling now works. There are four of us on a family plan. My wife and kids had the wifi calling all along and it worked fine for them. Don, I had the same problem. I just kept clicking on the three check boxes, and, have no idea why, but, at some point it accepted them. My next step was going to get my sighted person to do it. Here is how to join your home wifi. 1. Hold down the home key and when hearing the short ding, release the button and say without the quotes provided here, say "Open settings." 2. Swipe with one finger to the right until locating ""wifi." If you missi the wifi icon, swipe back left until locating it. 3. If using vioice over, tape twice on the wifi button. If not using VO, just tap on the wifi button. 4. Swipe to the right until locating your network. 5. If using VO, tap twice here to select that wifi. If using no VO, just tap once to choose the wifi selected. 6. If there is a password you must enter it. 7. Locate the "join" button and tap it and you are in. 8. Go up to the top left corner of the phone and locate "setting back button." Once that button is selected, and you are using VO, lift your finger and tape twice anywhere on the phone to move back one screen. If not using VO, just tap the back button to get out of the wifi screen. 10. Press the home button to return to the home screen. -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Casey Sent: Wednesday, October 28, 2015 10:12 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: how to use wi-fi calling on your iPhone with A T and T wireless Hi I have an iPhone 5 with A T and T wireless. So, when I’m outside I always see EE, the uK carrier I’m on, when I go indoors, the handset will show no longer the 4G icon and it will be replaced with the number of bars on my Wifi network. A short while later, the network icon, previously EE, will change to, EE WiFi network, and, this means that my calls / text are now being transmitted via the WiFi network. When I leave the WiFi network the icon will return to the basic EE icon, as I’m no longer on WiFi. Hope that this helps. Re: Subtle change to Wi-Fi calling on my T-Mobile phone
Hi Mary, My understanding is, WIFI only kicks in if you have a weak cell signal. I would think that you would only see both if both are being used. Subtle change to Wi-Fi calling on my T-Mobile phone
It has recently been noted in discussions that when you change your Wi-Fi calling from off to on you see a change at the top in your status bar where it says the name of your carrier along with Wi-Fi network where it used to just say the name of the carrier. I just noticed this morning that now, although my Wi-Fi calling is still on, it says T-Mobile network. It does not say T-Mobile Wi-Fi network or Wi-Fi T-Mobile, which ever it had been. Re: Wi-Fi calling
No it allows you to make and receive cellular calls over wifi. No this is not Facetime but rather a carrier specific feature.
