Re: Using iPhone with Wi-Fi calling?

2023-10-26 Thread Michael Irons
I have an iPhone six. I have Wi-Fi calling turned on on yet and my current iPhone. I can receive calls on the iPhone 6 and actually answer calls but I can’t make calls from that iPhone. The iPhone 6 hacks as an extension of my current iPhone.Sent from my iPhoneOn Oct 26, 2023, at 10:52 AM, Robert Doc Wright wrote:

  Hi guys,
So, here is the question.  I have an older
iPhone which is a 6-S and since it is not my current phone, there is no cim
card so, of course no making phone calls with it.  It still rings and is
aware that calls are coming in.  If I turn on Wi-Fi calling, can I still
make and receive calls?  I have to admit that I have not tried yet and
thought that someone might have a quick answer for me.  Thanks
  much.

When you are at your coffee shop and are connected you can swipe down on the
network to “More” and then double tap, after that you can toggle the “Auto
Join” option to off and that might do it.

If it doesn’t then you have to forget the network which means if you want to
connect to it again down the road you would have to reenter its security key.
If there is no security key, e.g. if it is an open public network then maybe
turning off auto join will do it. If all else fails you can always turn Wi-Fi
off completely.

In iOS 16 you will have more options to manage networks you have connected to
in the past, currently if you have connected to your coffee shop before but you
are not there you won’t see that network which is why you have to wait until
you are physically there to see if you connect automatically or not.

If you have the Wi-Fi password for your coffee shop entered it is likely that
your phone will connect to that network if you are in range just as it will
connect to your home Wi-Fi as soon as you come home..

Hi all,

If I walk in to my local coffee shop with wi-fi calling turned on, will my I
Phone connect without notifying me that I am on wi-fi calling?

Are there any security risk when using wi-fi calling?

Thanks,

RE: Questions about wi-fi calling

2022-07-17 Thread bentleyj1952
Guess I never paid much attention to the bottom of this page.

I now have it set to ask before joining networks and hot spots.

By the time I figured out what each of these settings meant, I lost track of
what the default settings were.

Thank you for your post.

Whis will depend on how you have wi-fi configured. I don’t have wi-fi set up to

Questions about wi-fi calling

2022-07-17 Thread bentleyj1952
Hi all,

If I walk in to my local coffee shop with wi-fi calling turned on, will my I
Phone connect without notifying me that I am on wi-fi calling?

Are there any security risk when using wi-fi calling?

Thanks,

James B

RE: wi-Fi calling question

2021-09-07 Thread Richard Turner
Wi-Fi is faster than most cellular and it doesn't cost you anything, so I leave
It on.
It only uses it if cell service is not available or at a very poor signal.

I'm not really answering your question, but I used it at my mother's in the

Re: wi-fi calling how to use it

2017-04-15 Thread Arnold Schmidt
I use Verizon, I assume the other carriers are the same. Whenever WIFI calling
is being used, the icon in my status bar changes from Verizon network to VZW
WIFI network. But the verizon signal has to drop below 3 out of 5 bars before
WIFI calling comes on. I have never tried turning off cellular data on purpose
to see if it would force WIFI calling to come on.

RE: wi-fi calling

2016-09-30 Thread Joe Thibault
Hi Marcy,

I couldn't get my wifi calling to work either until I went to AT&T and insisted
they figure out what was going on. Evidently I had free 411 associated with my
phone number. I had signed up for it years ago. It was free because I am blind
and it was grandfathered in on my account. I guess it is no longer offered in
the same way. Either way I had forgotten about it and never used it. They
removed it from my account because it conflicted with the wifi calling.

I know it sounds weird and I couldn't follow the whys and hows but my wifi
calling now works. There are four of us on a family plan. My wife and kids had
the wifi calling all along and it worked fine for them.

Good Luck,
Joe Thibault

Subject: wi-fi calling

Hello, all,

I have an iPhone 7, with the latest software update, 10.0.2 installed.

I have attempted to turn wi-fi calling on, but receive an error message that it
cannot be turned on for the account. I am part of a family account, and the
other three family members on the account all have wi-fi calling turned on.
However, though I’ve given it several attempts and spoken to AT&T about the
issue, I still cannot enable it on my phone.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Anyone have any ideas on how to resolve
it?

Thanks for any help!

Hi all,

Verizon announced that it will start offering wifi calling today, but only on 2
Samsung phones. We’ll have to wait until iOS 9.2 is released, or that’s my
theory anyway, until iOS users can use the feature.

This should be interesting. I know iPhones can do it, because Srint and I

RE: how to use wi-fi calling on your iPhone with A T and T wireless

2015-10-29 Thread dan Thompson
Here is how to join your home wifi.
1. Hold down the home key and when hearing the short ding, release the button
and say without the quotes provided here, say "Open settings."
2. Swipe with one finger to the right until locating ""wifi." If you missi
the wifi icon, swipe back left until locating it.
3. If using vioice over, tape twice on the wifi button. If not using VO, just
tap on the wifi button.
4. Swipe to the right until locating your network.
5. If using VO, tap twice here to select that wifi.
If using no VO, just tap once to choose the wifi selected.
6. If there is a password you must enter it.
7. Locate the "join" button and tap it and you are in.
8. Go up to the top left corner of the phone and locate "setting back button."
Once that button is selected, and you are using VO, lift your finger and tape
twice anywhere on the phone to move back one screen.
If not using VO, just tap the back button to get out of the wifi screen.
10. Press the home button to return to the home screen.

Mary,

Here in the UK WiFi calling only appears in the top status bar when you are
connected to WiFi, and, the handset has switched to the WiFi element of the
service.

So, when I’m outside I always see EE, the uK carrier I’m on, when I go indoors,
the handset will show no longer the 4G icon and it will be replaced with the
number of bars on my Wifi network.

A short while later, the network icon, previously EE, will change to, EE WiFi
network, and, this means that my calls / text are now being transmitted via the
WiFi network.

When I leave the WiFi network the icon will return to the basic EE icon, as I’m
no longer on WiFi.
Hope that this helps.

No it allows you to make and receive cellular calls over wifi. No this

Iphone 6 or 6 plus Wi-Fi calling on t-mobile

2014-11-13 Thread Joseph
Hello list,
Is anyone using an iPhone 6 or 6 Plus on t-mobile?
If so, how well does the Wi-Fi calling work and how well is the handoff from
cel to Wi-Fi?
Thanks in advance.
