RE: Apple's AirPods-AirPod PROs & AppleWatch

2020-01-23 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Any good Bluetooth headset with multi-point will do this perfectly, one example
is the voyager Edge single earpiece. If connected to both my iPhone and my
Apple Watch I can use it with my iPhone and if I touch my Apple Watch it
instantly switches to the watch and back to the phone within a second or two
after the watch goes to sleep.
I really don't understand why Apple's own product which costs twice as much as
most others and is supposed to be the future of wireless still can't do this.

2020-01-23 Thread Kay Malmquist
That is really how I put it. I told them that it still works somewhat, but
there are buttons that are not labeled and it used to work completely but
now there is some guesswork involved. I also thanked them for the app and
hoped it could be restored to working at a hundred percent like before.

Hello Everyone,

As of the latest release of Parcel Track, an excellent package tracking app
for iOS, VoiceOver accessibility has been greatly reduced. While the app
continues to be usable, via Via VoiceOver, there are now many unlabeled
buttons and some that are labeled,, cause VoiceOver to speak gibberish.

So, please join me in requesting that VoiceOver accessibility be restored to
its previous level which was, excellent.

You may send your feedback from within the feedback section of the app,

or you may send a direct email to:

You may also leave a review in the app store.

RE: Transferring content to an iPad

2020-01-23 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
What kind of content?
If ringtones then iTunes is your best option, same goes for music as far as I
know, it's been so long that I synced music to my phone now that we have Apple
Music and can basically play anything we want at any time by streaming or
downloading it, that I don't know if anything has changed here, but I doubt it.
There is also Waltr2 and iMazing, both are applications you have to buy and
which some claim can replace iTunes to transfer music and ringtones.

Re: Transferring content to an iPad

2020-01-23 Thread PRAMIT BHARGAVA
Hi
WhatsApp can be used with both wifi and data. This is available for iphone,
Android, Mac and Windows PC.
Even in the app store they mentioned - "Note: WhatsApp is a telephony app,
so iPod and iPad are not supported devices."
Let me share few of WhatsApp features:
1. Ability to send and receive text.
2. Make & Receive Calls
3. Share live location
4. Create groups
5. Share contacts
and much more.

Sharing A Book

2020-01-23 Thread Tom Lange
Hi,
Some years ago I decided to learn about Macs, so I went to the iBooks store and
bought Tim Snipfen’s book entitled Mastering The Macintosh With VoiceOver.
The book is still on my iPhone and I refer to it from time to time. Anyway, I
just started working with a new student and told her about the book. We went
looking for it and it doesn’t seem to be available anymore. While doing a
Google search for it, I found an article dated some time in 2016 which said
that the book was being offered for free in the iBooks store. The article had a
link to the book, but the link is of no use.
Since the book is “out of print” and was at one time being offered for free,
would it be legal to give a copy of the book to my student or anyone else who
might be interested? If so, how can I do that? I tried saving it to Voice Dream
Reader and it didn’t show up in Voice Dream Reader’s library. I went into the
Books app’s library and attempted to share it with my student via AirDrop. No
go.
Btw, neither Bookshare nor Bard have it. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
Tom

RE: Bluetooth keyboard

2020-01-23 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
If you want a big full-size keyboard for both computer and iPhone I highly
recommend the Logitech G613 Lightspeed Wireless mechanical gaming keyboard.
It has no backlighting, it uses a USB dongle for connectivity to the PC which
has a 1 millisecond latency and you can pair it to your phone via Bluetooth
which is also super responsive. Switching is done via a slider switch and it’s
virtually instant.
I use this keyboard as my main office keyboard, it is big and heavy and not
something you would want to travel with and my only complaint is that it uses
these Japanese switches called Roma-G, I wish it used Cherry MX Blue switches
which I have on my wired keyboards from the company “Das Keyboard”, I have the
model called Professional 4 and they are amazing, but also expensive.

Seeing as I've spent a small fortune in search of a satisfactory keyboard, I
thought I ought to pipe up here. I have a smaller keyboard from Microsoft
called the Microsoft Universal Mobile keyboard. It's compact and fairly rugged
with a plastic rubber coated lid which doubles as a stand. You need to type in
a code when pairing but once that's done, there's realy no lag. I don't know if
it's still available for sale so you might have to chase that one with Ebay or
something.

The keyboard I'm typing on now is cheeper because it's a 60% mechanical
keyboard from Keymove. They've made quite a splash in mechanical keyboard
circles recently. I got mine for $50 Canadian on Amazon. You can choose the
switch type you want. I like red linear switches. Other types have extra
audible clicks and add more feel to typing. It only has 61 keys and you don't
get multimedia controls. You do get an actual physical on/off switch on the
bottom. The key for slash and question mark is tucked in the corner formed by
the bottom and right arrows which takes time to get used to. There's no way
that I've discovered to easly turn off the rgb lighting. You don't have to
enter a number code when you pair it. The advantages are that it uses
Bluetooth4 and reports the status of your battery to the battery widget in the
Today view of your iOS device. Nice to be able to check the battery level.
There's absolutely zero lag to contend with and the board doesn't feel cramped.
It is somewhat noisy to type on so I only use it at home.

I've just backed a Keychron K6 mechanical keyboard on Kickstarter. It has
physical switches to change between wired, Bluetooth and off as well as one to
switch between devices. It uses Bluetooth 3 but given the stellar reviews of
their prior keyboards, I don't expect much lag. I went with red optical
switches which should help deal with any lag if I'm wrong. This keyboard will
also give me multimedia functions despite being a 65% keyboard. I'll also have
home and end keys.

Another keyboard I've tried was from Anker. It's quiet and compact. It also has
multimedia keys. Doesn't report its battery level and unfortunately suffers
from a smigion of lag. Just enough to be quite annoying at times. Otherwise,
it's a really nice design for a travelling keyboard.

Earlier, I backed a keyboard from Hexgears called the X1. Again, wonderful
build quality and a pleasure to type on but absolutely horrid Bluetooth
connectivity. I use it on my computer now but that one has to pretty much go in
the loses column.

It's very hard to get something which checks all the boxes. I have fairly high
hopes for the Keychron K6 but as you can see, I've been wrong before. I'll have
to wait quite a while before I think of taking another crack at that illusive
perfect Bluetooth keyboard. It seems to be my holy grail. I suppose, if it
injures my fingers to type on one, that could well change to being my Moby
Dick. I can tell you that it certainly won't be my fountain of youth. My wife
Sara and my parents have often exclaimed "Another keyboard!" in a manner which
may well qualify for genuine horror. Perhaps, one of you will find that perfect
keyboard and the quest can come to a glorious end. Meanwhile, best of luck to
all who set out to find the perfect typing tool that surely must exist.

RE: Apple's AirPods-AirPod PROs & AppleWatch

2020-01-23 Thread Simon A Fogarty
Yeah well that's an interesting question,

Apple have for a few years now been trying to get seamless switching between
devices through the airpods etc.

But I find that it only sometimes works,
May be once a month by mistake.

So it is being looked at / worked on.

The idea is that your pods connect to your phone and all your other related
apple products through your apple id account and then when you start say
working on your watch the pods should pick that vo voice up,
Then if you stop that and start on your ipad pro it should come through the
pods,

I've had it work a number of times, which is great but it's not constant.

Give it a try and see what you think.

RE: Setting up iPhone 11 from iPhone 6S Plus with Quick Setup

2020-01-23 Thread Simon A Fogarty
I just did this with 10 ipad 5th gen devices,

So all were running IOS 13.x or should I say iPad OS
I used the first device I setup as the primary and it took a few minutes to
set up the others one by one,

I had to sign in to or with my apple ID but otherwise everything else was
pretty much done

I did have to say yes / no to things like hey siri,
Pin code and touch ID,

As for data, sorry I can’t really say as the device had been blown away and
reset up.

Either way I’d stop your mothers and put the 6 on charge and start the process
again

Hope that helps.

Subject: Setting up iPhone 11 from iPhone 6S Plus with Quick Setup

So, here is the scenario:
My mother has an iPhone 6S Plus and she recently bought an iPhone 11.
Today I spoke with her on the phone to help her set it up.
I recently bought an iPad Air for my business and used my iPhone 8 and the
quick setup option, after I scanned the barcode on the iPad with my phone it
took a very short time for the setup to complete, I had to enter the passcode I
used on my iPhone and after that the iPad configured itself, it automatically
connected to my WiFi and so on.
When it was done it asked if I wanted to restore a backup or set up as a new
device and I chose to set up the iPad as a new device.
I did not notice that any apps got transferred via the quick setup, when I just
looked all my photos from my iPhone are also on the iPad, but I am not sure if
this happened via the quick setup or whether they simply downloaded because I
have iCloud Photo Library and Photostream turned on.

Anyways, here my question: if others have used this quick connect or quick
setup feature where you bring your new phone close to your old one and then
scan the code, how long did it take?
On my Mom’s new iPhone 11 it said after she scanned the code that it was
setting up and this could take several minutes, but it’s been saying this now
for the last 5 or so hours.
She says there still is a little wheel that is spinning as if it’s doing stuff,
but it just goes on and on.
I even called Apple Accessibility, but the guy I spoke with couldn’t really
give me an answer. I Know you have to have Bluetooth on for this to work, but
what I don’t know is what actually gets transferred and if, for example, all
photos which potentially could be several Gigabytes of data, get transferred
via Bluetooth to Bluetooth then this could of course take a long time. But why
would Apple then say “this can take several minutes”, they should “this can
take 8 hours”.

Regards,
Sieghard

RE: What do these two options mean

2020-01-23 Thread Simon A Fogarty
On some of the older phones you could save contacts to your sim card so that
when you changed phones the contacts were always on your sim card,

This feature is to allow you to now load those contacts from the sim card on
to your phone

I haven't seen a sim card with contacts on it for a long time and less now due
to sims being nano and therefore not around when this feature was more commonly
used.

I have a feeling though that android phones might still let you do this.

RE: Bluetooth keyboard

2020-01-23 Thread Simon A Fogarty
I have both the k380 from Logitech and the apple magic keyboard,

If you want simple and easy get the apple magic bt keyboard,
Charging is done through the same lightening cable that can do your phone or
iPad / ipod etc.

It's small light and has the same keyboard layout to that of the mac books

But a lot more cost for the board when buying.

The Logitech is great lightweight and able to pair with multiple devices /
os's
Feels nice to type
On and simple to switch between different devices.

And a hell of a lot cheaper to buy.

Hpe this helps.

You may send your feedback from within the feedback section of the app,

or you may send a direct email to:
t...@parceltrack.de

You may also leave a review in the app store.

Thank you for your support,

Mark

2020-01-23 Thread Alan Lemly
Mark,

Thanks for the alert. That's discouraging that Parcel Track has taken a step
backward regarding accessibility with its latest update. I'm always a bit
hesitant to update an app when it talks about a significant redesign as Parcel
track did with its latest update. But I never found Parcel Track to meet my
needs as well as the Shiprack app which I use to track my package shipments.

RE: Setting up iPhone 11 from iPhone 6S Plus with Quick Setup

2020-01-23 Thread Carolyn
Yes, I remember having to use my Apple Pass Word to get the Cloud, then my
phone one also. It just did not take us long though. The neat thing is since it
brought everything over from my SE, it started talking right off.

Hi Sieghard,

My wife had a 6 plus and I purchase her an 11. It only took a couple minutes to
do the setup like you had your mom do. but as we were using the iPhone it still
was downloading things in the background. I don’t know how long this took but I
don’t think it was five hours but then my wife does not have as many pictures
as your mom had.

Regards,

Sieghard

Hello Everyone,

As of the latest release of Parcel Track, an excellent package tracking app
for iOS, VoiceOver accessibility has been greatly reduced. While the app
continues to be usable, via Via VoiceOver, there are now many unlabeled
buttons and some that are labeled,, cause VoiceOver to speak gibberish.

So, please join me in requesting that VoiceOver accessibility be restored to
its previous level which was, excellent.

You may send your feedback from within the feedback section of the app,

or you may send a direct email to:
t...@parceltrack.de

You may also leave a review in the app store.

Thank you for your support,

Mark

What's App

2020-01-23 Thread 'deidre muccio' via VIPhone
Hello all
A friend has been pesterung ne to use What's App rather than text messaging.
He wants to hear my voice not read the gibberish I sometimes send him when
the dictation is shoddy and I haven't taken the time to correct it.
I first did a search for What's App and saw a few listings. Should I
assume that the App I want is called What's App Messenger?
When I hit on the "redownload" button, it said I was in the UK
store and it was not available for download to my phone and I needed to get
it from the U.S. store.
How do I get back to that? I looked something up the other day that
was only available in the UK which must be why I am stuck there. I only see
an ok button nothing more.
I had What's App on my phone ages ago but for whatever reason did
not stick with it.

switch between devices.

If you want simple and easy get the apple magic bt keyboard,
Charging is done through the same lightening cable that can do your phone or
iPad / ipod etc.

It's small light and has the same keyboard layout to that of the mac books

But a lot more cost for the board when buying.

The Logitech is great lightweight and able to pair with multiple devices / os's
Feels nice to type
On and simple to switch between different devices.

And a hell of a lot cheaper to buy.

Hpe this helps.
