questions about the Balance My Checkbook app by LingsDesigns

I've mentioned using the Balance My Checkbook app by LingsDesigns before on 
this list. But best I can tell from looking at the two apps and my purchase 
history, I was using the legacy version of the app and not the newer version 
now being offered. However, when I wanted to perform a search through my 
various transactions and could no longer find the search transactions button 
even though I've used the paid version since 2016, I went to the app store and 
downloaded the newer version and the search function did indeed work. I 
noticed, though, that the notes for the update done about a month ago for that 
newer version, which is no longer the most current update, mentioned 
improvements for VoiceOver, and so I was wondering what those improvements 
were, as the legacy app didn't have, and likely didn't need, that particular 
update.

Also, with the legacy version of the app, the notes field from a prior same 
transaction was already filled in for the next same type of transaction, but 
that appears to not be the case with the newer version of the app. For example, 
when paying the utility bills, sewer bill or water bill or whatever would 
already be filled in the notes section from where I had paid that same company 
the month before in the legacy version of the app but not in the current 
version.

thus, I was wondering if I've gotten things mixed up from downloading and 
installing the two versions, or if I'm seeing things correctly here? I can 
certainly contact the developer if necessary, but if anyone still uses either 
the legacy app or the current one and could answer any of these things for me, 
that would be appreciated. Again to confirm, since maybe my ramblings were a 
bit confusing: first, just to satisfy my curiosity, does anyone know what the 
improvements to VoiceOver were done about a month ago in the current version of 
the app? Second, is the autocomplete feature for the notes part of the app no 
longer available in the current version of the app? And finally, is the search 
transaction feature no longer available in the legacy app?

If you have downloaded albums or songs, and now you want them lossless, you 
must re-download them in that format. Streaming is no big deal. But in order to 
get them lossless download it to your phone, you have to redo it.

Today, I picked up a bluetooth earpiece by Jabra on sale. When I paired it, 
although voiceOver said it was paired, I couldn't get anything to play through 
the earPiece. There's only one button on the divice, and it will answer calls, 
but nothing else. I've done a google search with no success. Maybe I have to 
press that single button a certain number of times or something to get 
voiceOver and other information to play through the bluetooth device. Any 
ideas? Thanks.

There is an App called Louie Voice Control. This allows a user to control 
WhatsApp, Contacts, Call Logs, Uber, YouTube, Text messages, Google Search and 
phone calling with just voice commands.

You can easily send a text or WhatsApp text to someone and can even save their 
numbers.

The app is currently available for Android and is available on Play Store.

checking battery status on Magic Keyboard

Regarding your second question, in the settings tab in whatsapp, you have a

Do a three finger swipe right from the home page.  You will hear voice over 
announce 'search'.  Now set the rotor to headings, or swipe right with one

No, you always have to first invoke SIRI either by asking "Hey Siri" or by 
pressing and hoding the side button, then when SIRI is listening you say "Hey 
Google" or 'OK Google", at that point the Google Assistant app will open and 
Google Assistant will listen. Being able to set up this shortcut will not make 
your iPhone into an Android phone or behave like one. If you want direct and 
immediate access to the Google Assistant I would highly recommend a Google Mini 
or Nest Audio speaker, I forget what the latest ones are called now with Google

Secondly, in regards to the seriousness we have already started work on iOS
and with God's grace it will be out by early next year.

The reason it's taking a little long for the iOS is because it's a closed

There are many such apps in the App Store, I would maybe check Applevis to see 
if there are reviews or recommendations. As for using an actual spreadsheet 
program on the iPhone, good luck, it's very tedious at best and I know even 
sighted people who don't like it, Excel (not the correct spelling) works great 
on a PC with Jaws and, I assume also NVDA, but in my opinion it's not such a 
good experience on an iPhone.

Hi Ioana,

I'm curious whether you intend to do all your input manually with a recommended 
financial app using your iDevice? If yes, I agree with Sieghard and expect 
you're in for a lot of frustration. A spreadsheet program like Excel would be 
best for customizing something to manage your finances but I'd only recommend 
doing that on a Windows computer with a full keyboard. Otherwise, I'd recommend 
you open a checking account at an institution with an accessible app. I've 
noticed a lot of financial apps are suggesting you link your various financial 
accounts together but I'm not a fan of that practice. I much prefer having one 
accessible checking account, one accessible credit card that allows download of 
its transactions in a format I can import into my computer's financial software 
(Money Talks), and one accessible investment account that I can monitor with 
its app.

There is an App called Louie Voice Control. This allows a user to control
WhatsApp, Contacts, Call Logs, Uber, YouTube, Text messages, Google Search
and phone calling with just voice commands.

You can easily send a text or WhatsApp text to someone and can even save
their numbers.

The app is currently available for Android and is available on Play Store.

Hello,

I am not entirely sure if this is rolling out to certain countries only and if 
everybody is getting this at the same time, but I received a notification from 
the Music app this morning that Apple's spacial audio was now available.
I was informed that with certain headsets from Apple the feature would be 
automatically turned on, but you can also go into Settings > Music and under 
the Audio heading look for the Dolby Atmos entry and change it from Automatic 
to Always On.
Once I did this I plugged in my somewhat high-end V-Mota wired headset and 
listened to some of the demos Apple has available in the Music app under the 
Browse tab. One of them was demonstrating the difference between Mono, Stereo 
and Dolby Atmos (also called spacial audio) for the Marvin Gaye song What's 
Going On. I must admit it did sound pretty impressive and even when I just did 
this without a headset and with my iPhone lying in landscape mode on my chest 
just near my chin you can hear the difference.
Of course only some music has been recorded or remastered with Dolby Atmos and 
I guess we'll see if it will really revolutionize music as the guy in the demo 
claims it will.Apparently

There is an App called Louie Voice Control. This allows a user to control 
WhatsApp, Contacts, Call Logs, Uber, YouTube, Text messages, Google Search and 
phone calling with just voice commands.

You can easily send a text or WhatsApp text to someone and can even save their 
numbers.

The app is currently available for Android and is available on Play Store.

And I can simply askk SIRI to send so and so a message using WhatsApp and it 
will do so. WhatsApp is very accessible and even if your app were available for 
iOS I would see little reason to add another interface to an app which I can 
use perfectly well. I am not an Android user so can't speak for WhatsApp 
accessiblity and ease of use on that platform, but I find it as easy to use on 
an iPhone as the Phone app or Messages.

Apologies, firstly I have no interest and neither do I want to spam the list.

Secondly, in regards to the seriousness we have already started work on iOS and 
with God's grace it will be out by early next year.

The reason it's taking a little long for the iOS is because it's a closed 
system and a lot many things have to be taken into consideration before one can 
even start.

Though not perfect, one solution for Doordash is to use Aira.
Yesterday I used this option, had them help me browse through the menu
and select items. One other time I called Aira, I had already placed
items in my cart and called them for help setting the delivery time.

You can't just say Hey Google or Okay Google from within the app? I can't if 
the assistant is still giving information, but once it is no longer speaking, I 
can say either of those, then I hear the beep, and then I can ask further 
questions. I'm thinking that perhaps I couldn't do this at one time for some 
reason, but I am able to do so now. I'm not using a Siri shortcut, though, as I 
either find the app and go into it directly or just ask Siri to launch it for 
me. I can also find the mic button and double tap it, but I'm usually too lazy 
to do that.

I am not entirely sure if this is rolling out to certain countries only and if 
everybody is getting this at the same time, but I received a notification from 
the Music app this morning that Apple's spacial audio was now available.

I was informed that with certain headsets from Apple the feature would be 
automatically turned on, but you can also go into Settings > Music and under 
the Audio heading look for the Dolby Atmos entry and change it from Automatic 
to Always On.

Once I did this I plugged in my somewhat high-end V-Mota wired headset and 
listened to some of the demos Apple has available in the Music app under the 
Browse tab. One of them was demonstrating the difference between Mono, Stereo 
and Dolby Atmos (also called spacial audio) for the Marvin Gaye song What's 
Going On. I must admit it did sound pretty impressive and even when I just did 
this without a headset and with my iPhone lying in landscape mode on my chest 
just near my chin you can hear the difference.

Of course only some music has been recorded or remastered with Dolby Atmos and 
I guess we'll see if it will really revolutionize music as the guy in the demo 
claims it will.Apparently

I also like the new dolby audio.  What I don’t get, and maybe I’m missing 
something.  When I listen to a song that I’ve previously downloaded, shouldn’t 
it also play using the new dolby surround sound?

 

I’ve set it to dolby on automatically in settings, but I noticed a difference 
at first, but now, music sounds the same whether I turn dolby on or off, just 
to experiment.  I am using he Beats Solo headphones.

automatically turned on, but you can also go into Settings > Music and under 
the Audio heading look for the Dolby Atmos entry and change it from Automatic 
to Always On.

Once I did this I plugged in my somewhat high-end V-Mota wired headset and 
listened to some of the demos Apple has available in the Music app under the 
Browse tab. One of them was demonstrating the difference between Mono, Stereo 
and Dolby Atmos (also called spacial audio) for the Marvin Gaye song What's 
Going On. I must admit it did sound pretty impressive and even when I just did 
this without a headset and with my iPhone lying in landscape mode on my chest 
just near my chin you can hear the difference.

Of course only some music has been recorded or remastered with Dolby Atmos and 
I guess we'll see if it will really revolutionize music as the guy in the demo 
claims it will.Apparently

A bluetooth pairing question

Hello listers,

Today, I picked up a bluetooth earpiece by Jabra on sale. When I paired it, 
although voiceOver said it was paired, I couldn't get anything to play through 
the earPiece. There's only one button on the divice, and it will answer calls, 
but nothing else. I've done a google search with no success. Maybe I have to 
press that single button a certain number of times or something to get 
voiceOver and other information to play through the bluetooth device. Any 
ideas? Thanks.
