2020-03-02 Thread WAMUG Annoucement
G’day all WAMUGERS.

The next monthly User Group is just around the corner. In fact, it’s tomorrow,
Tuesday, 3 March 2020.

This month, amongst all the interesting questions and answers that we have been
having we will be looking spreadsheets. The basics, what they can do including
basic formulae. A foundation to build on so to speak.

So grab your Macs, iPads and iPhones and come on out to Bullcreek for
information on all things Apple and a cuppa and chat. Of course don’t forget
the most important part - gotta problem? Ask and have it solved.

Hope you can make it.

(Details are subject to change without notice)

Location: The Bullcreek Leeming Scout Hall. Bob Gordon Reserve, Benningfield
Road, Bullcreek.
Time: 7.30pm - 9.30pm
Cost: $5

Location Details
The WAMUG User Group now meet at the Bullcreek Leeming Scout Hall at the Bob
Gordon Reserve, Benningfield Road, Bullcreek. There is plenty of parking right
outside the door.

How to get there. The three main drags that get you there are the Kwinana
Freeway and either Leach Highway or South Street, depending on where you travel
from.

From the north: Travel south on the Kwinana Freeway and you have two choices.
1) You can get off at Leach Highway and then chuck a right into Bull Creek
Drive. Go down to the round-a-bout at Parry Avenue and turn left. The first
right is Benningfield Road. Travel a short distance and the turn-off into Bob
Gordon Reserve will be on your right.

2) Apple Maps say that you travel on the Kwinana Freeway further south and get
off at South Street (turn left) and then turn left onto Benningfield Road.
Follow that up until it starts to curve right and the turn-off into Bob Gordon
Reserve is on your left.

From the south: Travel north up the Kwinana Freeway and get off at South
Street, turning right, then turn left onto Benningfield Road. Follow that up
until it starts to curve right and the turn-off into Bob Gordon Reserve is on
your left.

From the east or west: Get onto either Leach Highway or South Street and follow
the relevant directions as stated above.

WAMUG User Group Reminder: This Tuesday 5 November 2019

2019-11-04 Thread WAMUG Annoucement
G’day all WAMUGERs

Well, the Melbourne Cup is near at hand and that really means just one thing.
Yes, the WAMUG November User Group is on the same day. That’s right, tomorrow,
Tuesday 5 November 2019, the User Group is meeting at 7.30pm.

Whilst it will a meeting packed with exciting things, it will probably be
tinged with sadness as it may well be the last meeting in Riverton. However,
the user group will continue at another location - more on that later.

So, what’s in store for tomorrow night?

 - Apple Notes. We’ll look at different ways to use it such as for recipes,
dictation and other interesting ways.
 - Default Folder by St Clair Software. A program where you can set up default
folders to save things in for different apps. Save time hunting for those
particular folders you regularly use.
 - Notion – a quick look at a big note taking application.

So grab your Macs, iPads and iPhones and head on out to Riverton for
information and a cuppa and chat. Of course don’t forget the most important
part - gotta problem? Ask and have it solved. I know I have one or two this
week.

2019-06-03 Thread Stephen Chape
Thank you Pete.
It always surprises me that the Winter Solstice (middle of winter) is 21 June.
Yet we are told that 1 June is the start of winter.

So winter lasts 6 weeks ?

4 December 2018 starting at 7.30pm. Amongst a few topics this month we will be

new. We’ll see facial recognition at work and not at work when you’re asleep.

We’ll also have some fruit mince pies to go with the cuppa.

I would love to tell you what the other topics are but, alas, I’ve lost my

WAMUG Meeting Reminder: This Tuesday 6 March 2018

2018-03-04 Thread Pete Smith
G’day all WAMUGERS.

With summer now over we are in for some nice, pleasant Autumn evenings -
apparently. What a great time to head on out to the WAMUG monthly meeting
coming up this Tuesday, 6 March 2018 at 7.30pm.

We have a couple of good topics for you this month. We’ll be looking at Airdrop
and some things to look out for and then we’ll take a look at Apple Wallet and
Apple Pay. Use your iPhone and leave your wallet at home. We will look at an
app that is available as a Wallet app so you you save all those pesky loyalty
cards on your iPhone and leave the actual cards at home.

Another app we will be looking at is able to scan and store those business
cards you get so you will never lose the one you want. Plus it’s free.

Maybe you know some good apps that blend in with Wallet. If so, why not come
along and share your knowledge.

So pack up your iPhones, iPads and Macs and head on out to Willeton.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

This year, the AGM will be held in April. More will be published after the
March monthly meeting but we are asking for people to consider coming onto the
committee to provide some fresh blood and ideas. It is not arduous and,
although there is a committee meeting every month, it’s OK if you miss some.

Please consider it. Nominations will be called for soon. - Thanks in advance

2018 is well and truely off and running and the WAMUG monthly meetings are
about to do the same. That’s right, this Tuesday the 6th of February is the
first monthly meeting of the year.

We’ll be taking a look at Airdrop in iOS to see that we’re getting the best out

colours matchup. Another good app if your into designing or maybe just some
quilting!!

So gather up your Macs, iPads and iPhones and come on down to Willeton.

Meeting Reminder: Tonight, Tuesday 5 December 2017

2017-12-04 Thread WAMUG Annoucement
G’day all WAMUGERS.

Christmas is fast approaching but not as fast as the last chance to get a WAMUG
monthly meeting this year. Yes, the December meeting is on tonight, Tuesday 5
December, 2017.

The topics for tonight were easy to work out because the last two meetings
produced exciting divergences from the plan with questions that led from one
topic to another. So much learnt, so much taught.

So we’ll see if we get through the topics tonight but if we don’t, well we will
learn so much more anymore.

Tonight we’ll be taking a look at some tips and tricks to help you in your
interwebby searches (long live Corner Gas!) and also exploring how to make sure
the colour you want is the same throughout your document. We’ll look at colour
models, using the colour picker and getting a really good understanding of what
RGB is. (Same topics so same paragraph from last month!)

So pack up your iPhones, iPads and Macs and head on out to Willeton.

WAMUG Meeting Reminder: Tuesday 1 August 2017

2017-07-30 Thread WAMUG Announcement
G’day all WAMUGERS.

What lovely weather we have been having of late (well - I liked it). Hopefully,
this coming Tuesday evening will be good to out because the August monthly
meeting is on. Yes, once again the time has flown and another fantastic monthly
meeting is nearly upon us; this Tuesday 1 August, 2017.

Last month we looked at what was new in Pages and the meeting got so involved
in it we didn’t look at the other two topics. So this month we’ll be looking at
Reminders on the iPhone and iPad. Adding, deleting, checking a reminder off,
etc. Get a reminder at a certain time or when you get to a certain place – how
does it all work? Then a quick revisit to Contacts to see about using it better.

Of course there is all the questions and hands on problem solving that happens
too. The meetings might be small in number but the knowledge and advice is
large.

So why don’t you come along and join in? Bring your iPhone, iPad and/or Mac and
follow along or get your problem solved. Everybody learns something every month.

Or just come and enjoy the camaraderie of like-minded Apple users and enjoy a
cuppa and biscuits and a friendly chat.

2017-07-02 Thread WAMUG Announcement
G’day all WAMUGERS.

Well tomorrow might be a big celebration if your an American but what’s even
better is that it is also the second WWMM for 2017. Doesn’t time fly. That’s
right the second Winter WAMUG Monthly Meeting is on tomorrow, Tuesday, 4 July
2017.

Come along and enjoy the camaraderie of like-minded Apple users. You don’t have
to be all knowledgeable. Come and learn or maybe offer a little titbit of
knowledge. It’s amazing the little things we all discover there from the
different people. Memories refreshed, forgotten knowledge rediscovered, new
ways to do old things. Of course, there’s also the cuppa and biscuits and a
friendly chat.

This month were still looking at Reminders on the iPhone and iPad. Adding,
deleting, checking a reminder off. Get a reminder at a certain time or when you
get to a certain place – how does it all work? Plus we’re going to have a look
and see what’s new in Pages. For example, linked text boxes are back and a
whole new pile of shapes. Then a quick revisit to Contacts to see about using
it better.

So pack up you iPhones, iPads and/or MacBooks and come along.

2017-03-05 Thread WAMUG Announcement
G’day all WAMUGERs.

Summer is over and Autumn is here but the evenings are still warm. So why not
come out to the next monthly meeting this Tuesday, 7 March 2017.

This month, iTunes is in the spotlight (pun intended). Come and learn about the
differences between iTunes on your Mac and on your iOS device. Did you know
that whilst you can shuffle all your songs on either device, you can’t shuffle
just albums on them all. Never fear, though, come and learn about an app that
will let you do just that.

If you’ve got any questions about iTunes, bring them along with your devices
and learn hands-on.

PLEASE NOTE: This year the annual general meeting will be held in April. More
on that after Tuesday’s monthly meeting.

Well it’s getting ever closer to that special day that comes around this time
of year. Yes, that’s right, WAMUG’s November monthly meeting is on this Tuesday
the 1st of November 2016.

Ohh, and isn’t there a horse race or something on that day too?

You might be especially interested in this meeting if you’ve got a lot of old
files tucked away on your computer or on drives gathering dust because you can
no longer read them. We’ll be looking at an open source office suite called
Libre Office. It can open and read some old, old files and then you can save
them again into a modern format.

So grab your Macs, iPhones and iPads and head on over to Willeton. It’s not

2016-08-01 Thread WAMUG Announcement
G’day all WAMUGERS

Hope you are all rugged up for the last month of Winter but, more importantly,

Yes, folks, the time has quickly come around again and the August meeting is on
tomorrow, Tuesday, 2 August, 2016.

This month we’re going to do "back to basics”. We’ll look at systems
preferences for example and see how to use them to customise your laptop,
iPhone or iPad. So bring your devices along and have a go and see if you like
any changes.

Maybe you have something you can add or something you’d like to know. I betcha
there’s something you’ve forgotten or didn’t know.

Don’t forget the Q at the start and of course a cuppa as we go along.

A Reminder to Not Jailbreak Your iPhone

2015-09-02 Thread Ronda Brown
I had a rather 'fruitless discussion' with a group of people not long ago about
the dangers of jailbreaking their iPhones. This was one such danger I mentioned
to them, but they were unperturbed and I knew they would continue jailbreaking
iPhones.

I get so frustrated that people now days are still so ignorant about security &
privacy and blame Apple for 'trying to protect' their devices...
--
A Reminder to Not Jailbreak Your iPhone

An estimated 225,000 Apple accounts, most of which are in China, have been
compromised by malware installed on jailbroken iPhones. The malware, dubbed
KeyRaider, intercepted iTunes traffic from the iPhones to nab usernames,
passwords, and UDIDs.
It’s another reminder that jailbreaking your iPhone isn’t worth the trouble.

WAMUG Meeting Reminder: This Tuesday 5 May 2015

2015-05-03 Thread WAMUG Announcement
G’day all WAMUGGERS.

Well, here I was, sitting, listening to the rain when my Calendar piped up and
reminded me about this coming Tuesday.

Yes, that’s right; did your Calendar remind you too that it's the monthly WAMUG
meeting this Tuesday, 5 May 2015?

We all have Quicktime Player on our Macs but did you know it can do more than
just play movies? We’ll show you how to get your iPhone up on your Mac so you
can see it on screen and then record it as you play around. Need to cut Grandma
out of that family clip? We’ll show you how. Oops, got caught out? Pop her back
in, better still, put her at the front. And that’s not all. Seven little tricks
we’ll show you.

We’ll also have a look at the free version of Evernote again because next
month, we’ll have a look at the paid version.

Also, Clipgrab. Grab that utube video you want.

WAMUG Meeting Final Reminder; Tomorrow Tuesday 14 April 2015

2015-04-13 Thread WAMUG Announcement
G’day all WAMUGGERS.

Easter’s done and some of you are half way through the school holidays too but
don’t forget that the monthly meeting was changed to this week.

That’s right, it’s on tomorrow, Tuesday 14 April 2015; same place, same time
though.

We’ll be looking at Microsoft Office 2016 which will be released late this
year. This release promises complete feature parity between Windows Mac. We
were also going to have a look at Affinity Designer as an alternative to Adobe
and we probably still will if time permits because Photos For Mac has just been
released and we hope to have a bit of a look at that first.

G’day all WAMUGGERS.

Well the New Year is 8% done and with the rain on the tin verandah outside one
could think it was winter, a very warm one though. But something feels missing.

Not anymore, though. Yep, this Tuesday the 3rd of February is the first WAMUG
monthly meeting for 2015.

We have a special guest this month. Her name is Siri and she’ll tell us all
about how she can help you get more out of your iPhones and iPads. Plus, have
you used the dictation on your device. We’ll have look at that too.

So, hope to see you there for the first meeting of the year.

WAMUG Meeting Final Reminder: Tonight, Tuesday 2 December 2014

2014-12-02 Thread WAMUG Announcement
G’day all WAMUGGERs.

Well the end of yet another year slowly approaches and there is only one
monthly meeting left in 2014. Yes, tonight, Tuesday 2 December is the last
WAMUG meeting for 2014.

And we’ve left the best for last!!

A little bit off Mac topic but the meeting will be looking at:—
Wikipedia.

Is it reliable? How does it compare with more ‘traditional’ encyclopaedias such
as Britannica or World Book? Can the information be trusted if anyone can edit
it?

Love it or hate it Wikipedia is here to stay.

This month, Gideon Digby, the Vice President of Wikimedia Australia is
attending and will talk to us about Wikipedia, how it works and who is
responsible for its creation.

Gideon has edited Wikipedia for 10 years and is founder of Freopedia and
Toodyaypedia using QR codes to link to Wikipedia articles.

If this is the only meeting you attend this year it will be worth it.

Come along, bring your questions and learn about Wikipedia then join us for
cake and a cuppa as we celebrate our final meeting for the year.

Winter is officially over but the rain is still here and so is our monthly

Please don’t forget that we back at our new premises in Willeton!!

This month we are going to take a look at a wireless speaker system from Sonos.
We will see a demo of the Sonos Bridge and a Sonos Play 1 wireless speaker
system so that you can listen to your iTunes music anywhere in the house,
wirelessly! Plus we’ll revisit Dropbox and 1Password so bring along any queries
about them you have. We’ll take you through a step by step demo of setting a
1Password login.

Please remember that we have gone back to our good old later start time of
7.30pm and we’ll be at the building of Professional Prowest Real Estate
situated at 175 High Road in Willeton. It’s between Leach Highway and Vahland
Avenue with the nearest cross street being Yampi Way. There’s plenty of parking
so no more driving ‘round looking for a spot to squeeze into.

WAMUG Meeting Final Reminder: This Tuesday 1 July 2014

2014-06-30 Thread WAMUG Announcement
G’day all WAMUGGERs

June is nearly over and July starts on Tuesday. Yep, Tuesday is the 1st of July
and also the day of our next monthly meeting.

Please don’t forget that we are in new premises in Willeton!!

The new premises are excellent with plenty of free parking out the front so
come along and enjoy some pleasant camaraderie with fellow Mac aficionados and
ask a question, learn something new or maybe help another out.

In that ever cyclic way when the old becomes new and the new becomes old, we
are going back this meeting to having the cuppa and biscuits at the end of the
night instead of half way through. That way, if there are still any questions
about any of the topics, or anything else that might arise, there is still time
to have a look or maybe compare notes.

This month we’ll looking at creating a digital signature and getting the most
from your iPhone or iPad camera. Oh, and don’t forget the usual questions and
answers at the start of the night.

Please remember that we are starting at the later time of 7.30pm and we’ll be
at the building of Professional Prowest Real Estate situated at 175 High Road
in Willeton. It’s between Leach Highway and Vahland Avenue with the nearest
cross street being Yampi Way. There’s plenty of parking so no more driving
‘round looking for a spot to squeeze into.

Hope you can make it.

(Details are subject to change without notice)

Location: The Professional Prowest Real Estate building, 175 High Road,

WAMUG Meeting Reminder: This Tuesday 3 June 2014

2014-06-01 Thread WAMUG Announcement
G’day all WAMUGGERS

Another year nearly half over and I’ve only been able to make one meeting in
February but my Tuesdays are free again and my Calendar tells me that the June
monthly meeting is this Tuesday, 3 June, 2014.

It’s at new premises and a new time. Well, actually, we’ve gone back to the old
time from the Curtin days. Yep, 7.30pm start so no need to rush your tea down
as much before you come.

So where are these new premises I hear you ask? We’ll be at the building of
Professional Prowest Real Estate situated at 178 High Street in Willeton. It’s
between Leach Highway and Vahland Avenue with the nearest cross street being
Yampi Way. There’s plenty of parking so no more driving ‘round looking for a
spot to squeeze into.

This month we’ll be looking at the Dock on the Mac and also Spotlight and some
tips and ideas on how to better use them. Plus we’ll have a look at Calendar
and PDFs and learn a few more tricks of the trade as they say. Maybe you’ve got
a trick you can share.

From reports of the last meeting at Prowest the new premises are quite good so
why not turn up, even if it’s only to have look.

There will be the usual questions and answers and, of course we can’t have a
meeting without a cuppa and bickies.

Hope you can make it. I’m looking forward to it.

WAMUG Meeting Reminder; Tonight Tuesday 4 February 2014

2014-02-03 Thread WAMUG Announcement
Are you looking for a replacement for Bento?

G'day all WAMUGGERs.

Well, the WAMUG monthly meetings are starting up again for 2014 and tonight we
are going to have a look a Tap Forms as a replacement for Bento and see how
easy it is to transfer your data from Bento to Tap Forms.

Plus how easy it is to make up a database from stretch and link two together.

I hope you’ve set your Calendars up tonight, Tuesday 4 February 2013 at 7pm,
because that’s when the first meeting is on.

Besides Tap Forms, what did MacSanta bring you?” A new app? A Trackpad? Some
nifty new software? Let us know what you got. You can either bring it to show
off or just tell us what surprise you got.

It's also a good time to pay your dues if you haven't done so already.

(Details are subject to change without notice)

Location: FutureSphere, Level 1 Building L; Christ Church Grammar School,
Queenslea Drive Claremont.
Time: 7.00pm - 9.00pm

WAMUG Christmas Barbecue Reminder: This Sunday 15 December 2013

2013-12-09 Thread WAMUG Announcement
G'day again all WAMUGGERS.

Don't forget to plug this Sunday, 15th of December into your Calendar or iCal
or stick a note on the fridge (would that be an fCal?).

The Annual WAMUG Christmas Barbecue will be held at 12:00 noon on Sunday in the
grounds of the old Heathcote Hospital at Point Heathcote Reserve, Applecross.

Currently, some of the western side of the old hospital is fenced off for
renovation but where we go is still open and will be still open on Sunday (I
checked).

All meat, condiments and soft drinks will be provided, but please let us know
by Thursday, 12th December if you intend to come along so we can get an idea of
numbers. This will help immensely in estimating quantities. Entry is free to
all WAMUG members, but a gold-coin donation by non-members would be welcome.

Any offers of help with this year's preparation will also be most welcome.

Seating is a bit limited so it might be an idea to bring your own chairs or a
rug to sit on. Plus, you can then move, if you stay long enough, to keep in the
shade. Last year, some people brought their own thermos for tea and coffee as
well. All up, we who attended had a fantastic day.

There is plenty of shade there so even if the weather is bubbling the tar, it’s
nice and cool where we go.

Go to our website [http://www.wamug.org.au/whats-happening/] where there are
detailed instructions on where we will be and you can download closeup maps of
where we'll be too.

If you want to use the Apple Maps app to find it, type “duncraig rd applecross”
into the search bar at the top. If it works like mine did, it will take you the
correct place and put a red pin in Duncraig Rd just near Grosse Rd. Follow the
road to the right towards the yacht club area and you’ll see a bushy area with
red roofed buildings. That’s it.

Using “Heathcote” didn’t work for me.

If you want to use Google Maps, click the following link to locate the venue in
Google Maps:

WAMUG Meeting Reminder: This Tuesday 5 November 2013

2013-11-03 Thread WAMUG Announcement
G’day all WAMUGGERS

Only a couple of days to the race that stops a nation so, if you’re going to
have flutter or two, have a look at the prospects and choose well.

But don’t forget to save 5 bucks for the November WAMUG Monthly Meeting that
night.

Yes, I hope you’ve set your Calendars or your iCals up for it this coming
Tuesday, 5 November, 2013.

We’ll be having a look at 1Password on your iOS device, The Notes app and some
amazing things it can do for such a small app and we’ll have a quick look at
Fractals. What are fractals, I hear you ask? Well it’s a mathematical thingy
that produces amazing twirly whirly things and you don’t even need to be good
at maths. You’ll have to be there to really appreciate it.

And with Mavericks just out, I’m sure some small discussion will be had about
that too.

So, come on down and we’ll celebrate or commiserate together and learn some
more interesting Mac-inations.

WAMUG Meeting Final Reminder: This Tuesday 4 June 2013

2013-06-03 Thread WAMUG no reply
G'day all WAMUGGERs

It's amazing what happens when you turn your iMac back on after a few mac free
days. My iCall was trying to remind me that the next monthly meeting is on
again tomorrow, Tuesday 4 June 2013.

This month we're having a look at digital hoarding and apps you can use to
distract yourself (and others) at boring meetings. Maybe you have one or two
you can also share.

Oh, and don't forget, what little thing have you learnt about, or to do on your
Apple product recently?

Well, I hope to see you there.

Oh, by the way. I know there has been some difficulty in parking at some
meetings. The last meeting was a doddle. Parked right out the front. However,
if the parking on Queenslea Drive is full, the school has a parking area on the
corner of Queenslea Stirling Hwy. The driveway is about 30 metres back from
the lights on the school side. It goes around a building into quite a few bays.
Then it's just a quick stroll across the oval and in the back way to the
FutureSphere. There's a map with arrows on the Meetings page of the website
that will assist you.

WAMUG Meeting Final Reminder: This Tuesday 2 April 2013

2013-03-31 Thread WAMUG no reply
G'day all WAMMUGGERs.

Well, Easter is nearly over. What's next I hear you say. Well, if you've set
your iCal up, you'll know that the April WAMUG monthly meeting is on this
Tuesday.

This month, we're doing something just a little bit different. We thought we
might try a new, small session this meeting called Tell Share where we will
ask you to share some trick or tip you have recently found to do with the use
of software on your mac, or iPad, or iPhone. It doesn't have to be cutting edge
stuff and it doesn't matter if you think others would already know it, let us
know anyway. We're interested in what members are learning and, trust me, not
everyone will know what you think they know!

For example, I learnt the other day a shortcut to use the £ sign instead of
going via the Character Viewer. So I'll be 'bragging' about that. Should come
in very useful once in a blue moon. (I'm still trying to remember what I wanted
a £ sign for!!!)

We'll also be looking at Font Book, boolean searching and revisiting Preview
for some more tips and tricks (and golly gosh Fat Cat, do I have question for
there!!).

Well, I hope to see you there.

Got you iCals set this for this month's meeting? Don't forget that the AGM is
being held first at 7pm, this coming Tuesday, 5 March 2013.

We're still looking for nominations for the committee to be elected on the

Then there's the three special resolutions to vote on. [see list email 24

After all that, we're still not finished. At the monthly meeting part, we'll
have a look see at some search techniques for use when surfing the interwebby
and have a good look at iCloud.

Of course, don't forget the question and answer session and the cuppa and
biscuits.

So pack up you questions and iPads and come along. See you there but if you
can't make it, please vote by proxy.

Hello, I am not a member of wamug (yet), but would like to locate one of
your members. So forgive me for budging in. I think his name is David and
he lives in North Fremantle. He once helped me setting up my mac laptop and
I would love to try his skills again.

Perhaps he would read this email and respond?

 Hi all.

The time is fast approaching for our annual general meeting which is held
in conjunction with the March monthly meeting each year.

This year's AGM will be held in conjunction with the monthly meeting at
 the FutureSphere.

At this year's AGM, the Committee, as usual and as required, will stand
down and the meeting will elect a new committee for 2013.

 NOMINATIONS for the Committee

We are calling for nominations for the committee. Please consider standing
for the committee to assist WAMUG. The committee is a totally voluntary
group that is always looking for some fresh views and ideas. Whilst
committee meetings are held every month, you may not be able to attend
every one. Please don't let this stand in your way. Even if you can only
attend a few throughout the year, please consider becoming a member. There
is a committee email group that keeps all connected as well.

The committee must have a minimum of five members to function under the
constitution. We currently just have that minimum five members. At this
stage, most of the current committee have stated a willingness to stand
again but we ask for your help to keep the committee functioning well.

 Please consider it.

You can nominate via a reply to this list if you so wish but I'm trying to
organise a specific off list email address for people to use. It will be
available within a day or two.

Special Resolutions - name change and constitution amendments

There will be a number of special resolutions put at the AGM dealing with
the previously discussed change of name of WAMUG plus some amendments
recommended by the Department of Commerce to comply with statute law.

I apologise that these resolutions have not yet appeared on the web site.
They will be up within a couple of days along with a proxy voting form for
those who are unable to attend the meeting but wish to vote - and you are
 encouraged to vote.

WAMUG AGM Reminder; This Tuesday 5 March 2013

2013-02-28 Thread Pete Smith
Hi all WAMUGGERs.

The time is fast approaching for our annual general meeting (AGM) which is held
in conjunction with the March monthly meeting each year. This year's AGM will
be held in conjunction with the monthly meeting at the FutureSphere. Three
special resolutions in regards to the constitution and the possible name change
will also be put to vote at the meeting.

At this year's AGM, the Committee, as usual and as required, will stand down
and the meeting will elect a new committee for 2013.

NOMINATIONS for the Committee

We are calling for nominations for the committee. Please consider standing for
the committee to assist WAMUG. The committee is a totally voluntary group that
is always looking for some fresh views and ideas. Whilst committee meetings are
held every month, you may not be able to attend every one. Please don't let
this stand in your way. Even if you can only attend a few throughout the year,

constitution. We currently just have that minimum five members. At this stage,
most of the current committee have stated a willingness to stand again but we
ask for your help to keep the committee functioning well.

Please consider it.

If you are going to be at the meeting, you can nominate on the night. If you
can't attend the AGM but would like to nominate to stand for the committee,
simply email me off list with your details and I will nominate you on the
night. (I couldn't the email address I was hoping to work - drats)

Special Resolutions - name change and constitution amendments

There will be three special resolutions put at the AGM dealing with the
previously discussed change of name of WAMUG plus some amendments recommended
by the Department of Commerce to comply with statute law.

These special resolutions are on the website along with a proxy voting form.
The proxy voting form is a PDf form that you download and complete online and
then attach to an email to send. The return address is on the website and the
proxy voting form.

I encourage all and sundry to vote and record your say.

Another email will be sent out shortly with details of the previous discussions
this list has had in respect to the proposed name change.

Meeting Reminder Tomorrow, Tuesday 5 February 2013

2013-02-04 Thread WAMUG no reply
G'day all WAMUGGERs.

Well, we're into another year and I forgot to set my iCal up. I hope you have.
Yep, that's right, the first monthly meeting is on again. Tomorrow, Tuesday 5
February 2013 at 7pm. Apologies for the late reminder.

What did MacSanta bring you?” A new app? A Trackpad? Some nifty new software?
Let us know what you got. You can either bring it to show off or just tell us
what surprise you got.

Also, we’ll be looking at a few ways to keep your Mac healthy and we’ll look at
the iStats Menu too.

It's also a good time to pay your dues if you haven't done so already.

See you there.
