I have been told the gentleman's name is Tom Jacobs. He is in a ton of episodes. I remember 1 episode where he talks. Where Goober Takes the car a part. Hi, I have been watching quite a few of my DVD's lately and have noticed another character actor that appears in alot of episodes.I was wondering if any of you trained experts can tell me his name. I watched Barney Gets His Man today and he played officer Johnson. He also is driving the truck that hits Malcomb Meriwether while he is reading his map. And he appears at the beginning of an episode that Andy puts the lipstick on Barney's face. He gets out of his truck and Barney tells him to move it and he blows Barney a kiss. Hi all I submitted a question about 2 weeks ago. Around the time the digest had a few problems. I am not sure if anyone read it or not. Hi all, I have a couple of questions for you experts. I bought the supplemental DVD that has the pilot episode on The Danny Thomas Show and Return to Mayberry. Why was Aunt Bee's character changed from Aunt Lucy in the pilot. Also it was sure weird seeing Mrs.Bavier playing a different character as was Will Wright. And another town drunk other than Otis. Now on to question #2. While watching Return To Mayberry I noticed the terrible attempt to create Aunt Bee's voice. I was wondering why they wrote her out of the movie. If I am right the movie was made in 1986 and she died in 1989 I believe. Did she not want to be in the movie or was she in declining health. Just curious. Thanks in advance!! My take on this subject is times were a lot different in the 60's. I am 40 and can remember in the summertime after school let out for the year, I would get up at 8 or so and only come home for dinner and snack time. I would be home by dark. I remember those times fondly. I made quite a few life friends. I now have 3 daughters and even though we live in the country I watch them like Opie watched his baby birds. Maybe I am missing this 1 by a mile but thats how I see it. This stirred me up. My dad came over and I was watching Gomer Pyle season 1 on DVD. When all of the sudden he said once Gomer was put on TV all the best writers went to that show and therefore TAGS went downhill after this. I am only 39 so I wasn't around then to argue with him. Hi, I ordered a supplemental DVD off EBay that has missing sponsor spots the pilot episode and Return To Mayberry. I haven't gotten to Return To Mayberry yet,but I have watched the pilot for the first time.There are alot of discrepancies in the episode.Like Frances Bavier(Aunt Bea)playing a woman that couldn't pay here taxes.There was an aunt Lucy instead of Aunt Bea.. Well what a coincidence. I am off work for 8 weeks due to knee surgery and thought I would put in TAGS DVD. To my surprise on season 2 disc 1 episode 2 was the episode you all have been talking about. It is a cute episode. Barney didn't want to give up his bulletin board duties to anybody. Also episode 1 on this disc there is a great scene with Andy and Opie when they are talking about when Andy was bullied around by someone and Opie asks him if the punch hurt Andy.He asks him over and over. Then finally as Opie leaves for school that morning to meet up with his bully he asks him 1 more time if it hurt. When Andy and Opie hug each other that is a priceless TV moment.I sure wish there was a TV show out today with the same values. Don Knotts Chicken Little
If you get a chance to watch the extra on the new DVD Chicken Little you get to actually see a small snippet of Don doing his Turkey Lurkey character. Also there was an alternate opening with Don reading a big part of the story. It is kind of sad listening to it knowing he is no longer with us. But if you get a chance to buy/rent it check out the extras! Mayberry In The Midwest
Since I live about 15 miles from New Castle I have been in constant contact with the people who ran the event in the past. As of 3 weeks ago there were no plans on having the event this year. Maybe Allan can answer in depth but they told me they lost money on the last event. I sure hope they have another 1 as it IS A BLAST! My Hero
I have read all the tributes and they are all great. I am 3 years old and I think I have watched the show at least 1 time a day for more days than I haven't.Many people want to meet President's,Pop's or sports or rock stars. Not me ever since I was a little guy I wanted to meet Barney Fife. Unfortunately I never got to meet him. I had hoped he would come to Mayberry In The Midwest here in Indiana but he never did. I always told myself it will happen just be patient. Well it never did and now it never will. For all of you who got to meet Mr. Knotts I am envious to you like you wouldn't believe.I don't know when I will be able to watch the show again. Don I pray to God when I get to heaven you are the 1 who greets me at the gate.I feel today as I did when I lost both of my grandpa's. I watch the episode where Otis was a direct descendant to a Civil War hero from Mayberry. Well Andy said something to Barney about his middle name was Oliver. I thought it was Bernard P. Fife. I was wondering if anyone knows how many people actually played 2 or more roles on the show.I am at a loss for this gentleman's name but he also played Gomer Pyle USMC.
