Steps to reproduce:
1. Create or edit existing page in wikimedia.
2. Enter the following in to the wikimedia editor.
This is the first reference refReference 1 /ref
This is the second referencerefReference 2 /ref
3. Click on the 'Save page' button.
Actual results:
System does not display any warning message.
Expected results:
System should display 'Cite error: There are ref tags on this page, but the
references will not show without a {{Reflist}} template or a references /
tag; see the help page.' message.

Unfortunately putting a newline before the template field only seems to work in trivial templates. In more complex ones it does not fix the problem. I'm pretty sure it is not a MW issue because as Ike demonstrates in comment 6, you can replicate it in MW if you put a space in, but if there is no space then it is fine. It only ever happens with SMW property fields. Istead of showing the page with the results, the browser tries to download the api.php. After downloading it, you can open it and the results are correctly in it. I use the Firefox extension HTTPS-Everywhere from the EFF. So it would be great if the api.php would also work correctly via HTTPS. Thanks! You are explicitly requesting the json format, and hence the api sends a application/json content-type, most browsers don't have any special handling for json, so they prompt you to download the result as they do with other unknown filetypes. No, sorry, the problem is: In HTTP, the api works fine with the wikipedia searchplugin in firefox. if I change the url in the wikipedia searchplugin's xml file to the HTTPS url, it doesn't work anymore. And to check that I use the right URL, I just typed it into the browser directly. There I noticed, that in HTTP the browser just shows the json, in HTTPS tries to download it. There's another big problem: Without SSL I can type something into the searchbox and immediately get suggestions. With SSL I can type for example 'asd' and get nothing, even if I wait a long time. Now I can remove the 'd' and type it again, then I get the results. You can find the width by clicking with the right mouse on the non rendering file and choosing Grafik anzeigen (in Firefox). In the url you will find something like /170px-. Today the content has a padding-top of 0, while the firstheading gets a
padding-top: .5em; (inherited from h1). Vector already has changed this to
div#content { padding-top: 1em; }
#firstHeading { padding-top: 0; }
which I suggest also for monobook. This would make any elements before the
firstheading look alike in the various skins. It would notably affekt the
central- or sitenotice, which often needs extra, skin-dependent css, mostly
when there are absolutely positioned objects (coordinates etc.) at the top of
the page.
This may refer to Bug 2013.
