[Bug 27356] New: No gradient visible in SVG rendered as PNG at large sizes
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=27356 Summary: No gradient visible in SVG rendered as PNG at large sizes Product: MediaWiki Version: wikimedia-deployment Platform: Macintosh URL: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:GlaxoSmithKline_logo .svg OS/Version: Mac OS X 10.6 Status: NEW Severity: minor Priority: Normal Component: Images and files AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org ReportedBy: alexlmul...@googlemail.com CC: gpaum...@wikimedia.org, bryan.tongm...@gmail.com I've seen #6250 and #10469 and don't _think_ this is a duplicate. The SVG of the GlaxoSmithKline logo looks perfect: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:GlaxoSmithKline_logo.svg The 200px and 500px rendered PNGs look great (using the links below the image). However, the 1000px and 2000px versions lose the orange gradient. I don't think this is an issue with the SVG: I can download the file, open in Inkscape, export at whatever size and it looks fine. Is it a problem with the PNG renderer? https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=27359 --- Comment #3 from Derk-Jan Hartman hart...@videolan.org 2011-02-12 12:28:21 UTC --- 1.17 does have a new SVG parser, that could cause for a change in behavior. This parser could reject files, that were not rejected before. It might have been that some of these 'incorrect' files were renderable by librsvg. However the files are broken, and should be fixed (And actually can easily be fixed). None of the original files display in Safari. If we did show them before, then we were more lenient on SVG correctness then Operating Systems. The PNG doesn't render either on Mac OS X and is actually uploaded last november on top of a working file. Likely this is just an error in the file as well. The new PNG parser could bring this problem to light I guess, but the file is broken nonetheless. I personally suggest wontfix for all of these, because they are actually broken files. Commons editors could easily revert or repair them if they want to. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. Re-opening this. I'm fairly sure this isn't fixed, but the opening comment is kind of confusing. When you get an e-mail about a new comment on a revision, it looks like something like this: User Platonides posted a comment on MediaWiki.r70270. Full URL: http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Special:Code/MediaWiki/70270#c13834 Comment: I don't see the need for history either. Why history and not edit, for example? If any, I would modify whatlinkshere-links so that those links can be created in MediaWiki namespace. This is a problematic if you can't remember off-hand what the revision is about. As time passes, it becomes easier and easier to forget which revisions you've commented on and why, so the new comments make less sense and require greater context. The e-mails should look like something like this instead: User Platonides posted a comment on MediaWiki.r70270. Full URL: http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Special:Code/MediaWiki/70270#c13834 Commit summary: * (bug 24563) Entries on Special:WhatLinksHere now have a link to their history New comment: I don't see the need for history either. Why history and not edit, for example? If any, I would modify whatlinkshere-links so that those links can be created in MediaWiki namespace. This way, you can know what the revision was about, so the comments hopefully make more sense. Having commit summary context should apply to follow-up e-mails and new comment e-mails. [Bug 27347] Set geoiplookup on a different IP than bits

The geoip stuff simply takes your IP address, and correlates it with the country you are in. We could likely go down to the city scale, but currently are not. You are accomplishing absolutely nothing by blocking the geoip server. Every time you visit any site anywhere, or send a packet to any server in existence, you are sending them the same exact information you are sending to the geoip server. It isn't a breach of privacy as the information you are sending is totally public, and we don't share this information with anyone. The information is added to your session, and isn't available to anyone else. We don't use this information to track you. In fact, we *do* use the information to adjust your content. Currently it is only being used for fundraiser banners, but gadget writers have plans for using the information as well. So, if you block this server, at minimum expect you user experience to not be as good. (Remember that gadgets are javascript, and as such are client side, using information that is only available to you, and not to the gadget writers) FYI, we also use geoip services for load balancing to our caching servers. We do geoip lookup based on your DNS resolver. This is so that we can send you to faster servers for your area. Something like $namespaceGenderAliases = array( NS_USER = array( 'male' = 'Male_user', 'female' = 'Female_user' ), ); would make more sense to me. Also, you might want to skip the GenderCache::needed() shortcut and just call $wgContLang-needsGenderDistinction() from LinkBatch directly. [Bug 27366] New: CSS style TOCs to make it easier to hit the link

I suggest changing the CSS to something like this: #toc li a { display:inline-block; width: 100%; } #toc li a:hover { background-color:#e8e8e8; } The hover effect would make it easier to see which particular heading you're going to hit, without being too obnoxious, and stretching the list links to the whole box width would make it actually easier to hit the heading you want. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l

Yes, it would. Better still would be to: # not limit that automatic output to section edits, but instead automatically *output* a references section (if there are ref tags but no references section) for the whole page or section (while displaying an existing page or section, to cover up the problem with existing pages) - we already have detection logic for this in the parser; # and automatically *add* a references section (if there are ref tags but no references section) for the whole page to the wikitext (while editing, to fix the problem with existing pages). An ambitious bot, set of bots, or database correction could automatically *add* a references section (if there are ref tags but no references section) for the whole page to the wikitext for every page in every project of every organization that uses this extension to fix the problem with existing pages, given approval by the developers of those projects. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. [Bug 14892] Allow external links in edit summary and log reason
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14892 Krinkle krinklem...@gmail.com changed: What|Removed |Added CC||krinklem...@gmail.com --- Comment #15 from Krinkle krinklem...@gmail.com 2011-02-13 00:32:03 UTC --- (In reply to comment #13) Suggestion: While I wouldn't want external links in the edit summary, but I think it would be great if links with {{fullurl:}} could work in the edit summary. This would allow to easily link stuff within the own wiki and some of the interwikis, but not make it possible to link spam in the edit summary. That would most likely require running all core parsers. Not sure if using parser functions like {{fullurl:}} should be parsed. I would vote No, since they are often used in summaries to perhaps explain things. The last thing we want is having to use nowiki in an edit summary. (In reply to comment #6) That domain is blacklisted and has been for a very long time. Though, I do see your point - with pages we can edit to remove links we don't want - not so for edit summaries and log reasons. Perhaps I was hasty on that point. True, the edit summary can't be edited. So perhaps we should only allow external links in log entries (which limites the exposure) and not in edit summaries. On the other hand, now that RevisionDelete is well-integrated. This would be a great usecase for the sysop version of revisiondelete (hiding an edit summary that contains spam). So parsing plain external links (ie. not [http://link linktext] but just plain simple external links) in all edit summaries and external links is a good idea imho. [Bug 14977] $wgServer lacks brackets in IPv6 URLs
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14977 Chad H. innocentkil...@gmail.com changed: What|Removed |Added Severity|minor |major --- Comment #23 from Chad H. innocentkil...@gmail.com 2011-02-12 20:38:42 UTC --- Bumping priority a bit. In doing some local testing, one major issue immediate becomes clear: When no title is specified in the URL (for example, http://[::1]/wiki/), OutputPage::output() will try to 301 redirect you to http://::1/wiki which does not work. This goes for anything using OutputPage::redirect() really. If you manually set $wgServer in LocalSettings (eg: 'http://[::1]'), then everything works without a hitch as far as I can tell. (In reply to comment #13) There is an apache bug report opened : https://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=26005 Yes. This is really Apache (IIS? Lighty? Nginx?) giving us a raw ::1 without brackets in SERVER_NAME, which we choose in DefaultSettings over HTTP_HOST (which does have the brackets, interestingly, and works if I switch it). Maybe we should switch our order of preference here. https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=27369 Summary: Special:Userlogin says cookies disabled; registrations don't show up in ListUsers Product: Wikimedia Version: unspecified Platform: All OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: enhancement Priority: Normal Component: Prototype server AssignedTo: roan.katt...@gmail.com ReportedBy: douglas.gard...@wikinewsie.org CC: pdha...@wikimedia.org When I try and login or create an account at http://prototype.wikimedia.org/rc-en/, I am prompted that I need cookies to login. I have cookies enabled, and I can login to the main WMF projects fine. If I try and create an account, it does not send me the confirmation e-mail, even though it says that it has. It will also not update Special:ListUsers with my username. (I apologise in advance if that's, er, intentional. [Bug 5984] Edit preview doesn't let you preview cite.php footnotes.
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5984 Svick gsv...@gmail.com changed: What|Removed |Added CC||gsv...@gmail.com --- Comment #14 from Svick gsv...@gmail.com 2011-02-12 21:21:16 UTC --- (In reply to comment #13) # and automatically *add* a references section (if there are ref tags but no references section) for the whole page to the wikitext (while editing, to fix the problem with existing pages). How exactly would that be done? What name would that section have? Where would that section go? What about references with group parameter? On enwiki, {{references}} is usually used instead of references /, the section name is either “Notes” or “References” and the section goes before the External links section. I don't think logic should be implemented in MediaWiki, especially since consensus about those things can change and other wikis have other customs. And according to the text at [[Category:Pages with missing references list]], AWB already fixes this and at least enwiki has a bot that fixes those errors. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. [Bug 27370] New: Add CSS class for pages in edit mode
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=27370 Summary: Add CSS class for pages in edit mode Product: MediaWiki Version: unspecified Platform: All OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: enhancement Priority: Normal Component: Page editing AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org ReportedBy: subfa...@gmail.com Pages in edit mode should have an own CSS class in the body tag. Purpose: When you add something to the top of pages via the skin, it also shows up on pages in edit mode where it is most often useless. The easiest way is to hide that content via CSS. therefor an own class is needed in tehj body tag when the page is in edit mode. This would save an extra php check in the skin. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug.
