Looking at the code, it looks like it takes super spidey powers to delete a post. I suppose that would make sense if there were replies in the thread, but does seem a bit odd given that it appears to let you edit a post... even if there are replies (which seems a little unfair in a threaded system). --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups WikiEducator group. Hi James, A flavicon is a good idea. Speaking of which, WikiEducator as a community hasn't formally discussed a logo for the project. Mmmm shouldn't we have a project to decide on a logo --- even better with submissions from our graphic artists in the community? [WikiEducator] Multimedia Storyboard template / guidelines
I'm about to embark on creating some 3 - 5 minute multimedia elements for the CCNC project (http://www.wikieducator.org/CCNC) within WE. I'd like these elements to encourage reuse. I believe reuse would be encouraged if the multimedia element is accompanied by a storyboard, transcripts, footage, etc. See the stealthisfilm project for ideas of where I am coming from; http://knowfuture.wordpress.com/2008/05/22/httpfootagestealthisfilmcom/ Does WE already have such guidelines beyond what has been started within CCNC? http://www.wikieducator.org/Specifications_for_multimedia_development/MM_SB Or does anyone have suggestions for a good set of guidelines I could use for reference? [WikiEducator] Re: Multimedia Storyboard template / guidelines
Hi Peter, Sound's exciting! Currently WE doesn't have existing guidelines for multimedia development -- so I'm pretty chuffed to see that you are thinking about the question of designing for reuse. Your work will be a pioneering project for WE -- and I'm sure that we will innovate with few smart wiki implementations for collaborative development of multimedia teaching resources. The film making course on Wikiversity has some good materials -- I recommend that you should take a look: http://en.wikiversity.org/wiki/Filmmaking A few other links which may be useful: http://www.ion.uillinois.edu/resources/pointersclickers/2004_09/index.asp A little dated, but the principles under the heading Flowcharting/Storyboarding Concept Mapping seem reasonable well founded: http://home.iag.net/~ksking/mmedia.html This site seems to have lots of valuable links: http://www.proscenia.net/pronews/discussion/033003_storyboard.html Hope this helps -- and look forward to seeing WE develop a wiki tools and ideas with this prototype. Hopefully this can culminate in a WE tutorial on storyboarding smile. [WikiEducator] Re: deleting stuff on LQT talk pages
A couple quick notes - 1) Deletion in LQT can be done by sysops, in the same way as deletion of content pages. An LQT comment can essentially be seen as a page. I think that's a reasonable way to handle it, unless you want to go into more complex UIs for thread-level versioning and thread-level reversion (there's a basic UI and backend for thread-level history, which is pretty impressive - I'm not aware of any other discussion system that has thread-level versioning). 2) There are lots of workflow improvements and small fixes that LQT would benefit from. The problem right now is that the extension is essentially orphaned; David has moved on to other projects COL cannot fund continued development, as I understand it. Wikimedia is interested in the extension as well - if you can help identify a suitable contractor to do further work on it, as well as make a list of open issues that you've experienced in your production use of the software, we can probably find funding for it. 3) If we do server-side fixes, they will be overwritten or cause conflicts in future upgrades. So please, please, make every effort to commit server-side fixes back to the development version. If any of you need committer access to Wikimedia's version control system (where LQT lives), send a note to commitaccess at wikimedia dot org and CC me. -- Erik Möller Deputy Director, Wikimedia Foundation Support Free Knowledge: http://wikimediafoundation.org/wiki/Donate --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups WikiEducator group. Hi Nellie -- not yet I'm afraid :-) -- I don't even have wikitrainer certification yet... We still need to think carefully about the requirements for these levels. However, you do get a featured L4C participant status smile, see: http://wikieducator.org/Featured_L4C_Participant:_Nellie_Deutsch A photo would be nice Cheers Wayne On Wed, 2008-06-18 at 14:17 -0700, NELLIE DEUTSCH wrote: Thank you, Wayne. [WikiEducator] Re: deleting stuff on LQT talk pages
I think I have personally replied to at least 6 people who have posted a reply in a LQT and then wanted to delete it but couldn't. My standard response for them is to edit the thread and delete the text, but this doesn't remove their signature and date. To my mind, a good threaded discussion board permits authors to delete their own contributions if they wish. The risk of such a thing disrupting or breaking the flow of the thread is small I think in comparison to people (at least 6 thins end) being put off by not being able to delete their mistakes. On Thu, Jun 19, 2008 at 6:13 AM, Erik Moeller [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: A couple quick notes - 1) Deletion in LQT can be done by sysops, in the same way as deletion of content pages. -- Erik Möller Deputy Director, Wikimedia Foundation Support Free Knowledge: http://wikimediafoundation.org/wiki/Donate -- -- Leigh Blackall +64(0)21736539 skype - leigh_blackall SL - Leroy Goalpost http://learnonline.wordpress.com --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups WikiEducator group.
