Excellent Amir. Just a thought: For those who do not know, there is an addon called Lupin's Anti-Vandal Tool [LAV] on the English Wikipedia. This tool is a typical RC patrol tool which shows edits on the fly. Part of this tool checks spellings on the fly and the user has the option of fixing them. However, it would be great if we did have it in our languages. Nothing is Impossible after all. It's not so much a matter of an alphabet, as of grammar complexity. Western European languages like Italian and French and Eastern European languages like Hungarian and Polish are written in the Latin alphabet, but they have very complicated grammar, so writing a spelling engine for them is much more challenging than doing it for English. Languages of India should be quite close to it in terms of complexity, despite the different writing systems. And above all, it's a matter of resources - French is quite complex, but there are much more resources (read: money) for it than for Telugu. But that's exactly why i propose everybody to at least try to use the existing tools: simply using the tools will help to uncover mistakes and missing words and fix them. Hi Arun/All, Thanks for all of your appreciation. The request for gu.wikisource.org is in its final stage. There is a bug filed already for the creation of it and we expect its creation anytime soon. With no discredit to anyone, but the people behind bringing the count to 1000 are User:Sushant savla http://wikisource.org/wiki/User:Sushant_savla, User:Ashok Modhvadia http://wikisource.org/wiki/User:Ashok_modhvadia User:Vyom25 http://wikisource.org/wiki/User:Vyom25 (if I am not mistaking) in order of their recent contributions in addition to other contributors including myself. User:Yann is inactive insce September 2011, while the majority of this work from is done since November. We have mainly started adding poems (including religious ones, Bhajans) and of course as Kondi stated Stories, biographies, history and other literature. However, our majority count is Bhajans. Also in addition to Kabir, we have few more notable Gujarati Poets' almost majority poetic creations added in Gujarati, these being, Narasinh Mehta (65) (who is regarded as Adi Kavi of Gujarati), Akho (23), Gangasati (53), Zaverchand Meghani (62), Mirabai (124).. and the list continues. Second larget type of content there after Bhajan/Poems is Lokageet (Falksongs). There is Bhagawad Gita and Mahatma Gandhi's autobiography are underway. We had set up our first aim to bring the count to 1000 on Holi, 18th March, and unfortunately we missed the goal by almost 10 days. Our next goal now is, as Sushant stated in his original message, to complete a first complete book there. Thanks Arun for your suggestion to link Kabir's work with Hindi text and English source. We met at 2 p.m. and took a walk around all the galleries and exhibits. We had a total of 14 participants including Subhashish and Noopur who are existing volunteers. By 3:30 we had looked around and spotted articles of interest like Gond painting, Mandana painting, Shekhawati painting etcetera. It was great to see a diversity in editing interests since there were 4 editors who actually worked particularly on Hindi articles. More information regarding our activities can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Meetup/Delhi/Crafts_Museum_Meet The Director of the museum, Dr Ruchira Ghose had allowed us to take pictures in all galleries. This comes as a move to release permissions to photograph art objects and upload them under CC licensing. From 3:30 to 5:30 we were editing different pages, most importantly learning how to reference so that our edits are not deleted. The deputy director, Ms Nidhi was also around to help us navigate through the place. We hope to continue meeting at least once a month. Now, that we've assigned specific galleries to groups of two, we're expecting some pretty insightful research. Moreover, it will make more sense to first focus and specialize in a particular kind of art. In subsequent phases, we plan to shuffle it all up to get rich perspectives from others on the subjects too. Also, this would give us a flexibility of approaching the museum at times best suited to *our* schedules. I would love if some experienced editors interacted with us and guided our efforts too! Yes, I've told them the same. There are a few issues: 1) The library is open only on weekdays and 2) The staff members also work on weekdays only But, we were not disheartened because this is a start. Now we know what to build upon. Maybe Srikanth you could 'adopt' one of the editors and work collaboratively. Hey, I don't mind at all. After all, this is what Wikipedia is about- Community and Collaboration. Though I'd love to adopt an article instead. The only drawback is my lack of internet access, and that it takes time to understand me.
