the horror of the mirror

2007-05-12 Thread Bjørn Magnhildøen

it's strange how we got mirrored, or split in two
eyes, sense organs, brain

one would think one is enough
two would think two
if we are someone we should be twosome
the proof is that we talk to ourselves all the time

these lines are split up for organizing
some organizing was lost when CD released vinyl
side a and side b

the fox look at you with two eyes
it's for measuring the distance
an idea of the space
it's reproduced by doubling
how many eyes would hyperspace need
and where to be placed
two points can draw a line
two lines draw a plane and so on
three points draw a plane
each adds a dimension in this type
if we had an eye in time
time sensation is a line of points
deconstructing time could be interesting
necessarily it goes one way only
or if it didn't we wouldn't know
because sensation and knowing goes that way
the sensations presupposes time
i don't like the word presupposes
you might as well say time presupposes sensations
time wouldn't pass if nothing happened
happenings are the time

two eyes make the landscape
which is two planes superimposed make a space
wow, suddenly you have all that space?!
and where does it come from?
while the plane is claustrophobical
well this happens at every transition

why all this nonsense
our bodies stay the same
body, just forget it
too long have you been a subject
subject to anything
just drop it
sure, but how to drop it?

now, the body is a mirror to itself and other
the fox has two eyes which is ridiculous
one mouth
you know, if we had two mouths i'm sure the gastronomical space...
they must be superimposed
which is almost alike
like a mirror
if they are too different it won't work
now, this small difference opens up a huge space?!
even worse

it's all a mess
where do things take place?
the sight?
if it's in the subject it's not in the object
which is scary
the sounds i hear are not there
what i see is not there
though people see the same
wow, this tree doesn't know how great it looks
are we supposed to take care of this mess?
somehow two eyes survived one eye
now we make a project, how does internet feel?
feel is a certain whole projection
if we have n senses
can we combine them into new ones?
here also the mirror might
something is reflected and attains objecthood
one eye is a subject
two eyes we don't know, the distinction doesn't hold
the two eyes sort of glue us to a context already

if the bottom is two how come we look for a one?
the world is one
it has to be
because when we start to count it is 1
first it's 0, then 1,2,3,...
so if we count backwards it's ...,3,2,1,0
so the world has to be one
or zero
everything has to be zero
but how to get from 0 to 1, and so on?
the irrational numbers were sort of discovered that way
the diagonal is a crazy number
so the counting doesn't represent all reality

let's see if this is already in the two eyes
the sight shapes a triangle where two sides are alike
for some, the third side is an irrational number if the two others are rational
1 : 1 : 1,4142135623730950488016887242097...
2 : 2 : 2,8284271247461900976033774484194...
3 : 3 : 4,2426406871192851464050661726291...
that's for near sighted, maybe looking at the tip of your nose

fine
i think we solved this problem with success
any question?

2007-05-09 Thread Bjørn Magnhildøen

let's start with thinking something similar
the other day while watching a movie where a sheep was walking across
the screen. first, i was surprised how rapidly it walked, on four
legs, it seemed differently from norwegian sheeps, this was in tibet.
and i put the scene on A-B for looping to get an idea what was going
on. during the looping i kind projected the two-leg onto the four-leg
animal, comical, and realized how efficient the four-legged. and then
why should it change? from that point of view humans maybe was forced
to change to survive, because they were so lousy at what they were
doing so to speak. finally we developed language because we were so
bad at doing things. later on we were lucky realizing that language
could control all the doings.

the cereal mix has 7 different fruits. and there are illustrations of
banana, apple, coconut, etc. waiting for the coffee to set in i wonder
how the abstract concepts came to exist - like 'fruit' instead of the
concrete thing illustrated. sure it's just a grouping, and reference.
let's imagine a protoculture. a thing as one and only one name. how
far do we get? all is well. person p goes on a journey to get thing t.
t is called t2 by person p2 maybe from another culture. so t is t2?
ok, but still, why should our friend call it t2 to his culture when he
already has a name t? so one of the first things we realize is that
multiple names to one thing is a result from interculture.
more basically, a thing is not a thing, so the name creates the thing.
for instance, when the wind is cold or comes from a special direction,
well one could always call that a thing. a better example is an
action, or a negation of a thing maybe. there is no cereal left.
already that messes it up. still the instinct. could we have negative
ads finally? with illustrations of what's not there. an anti-ontology.
t is the name of animals viewed from a far distance. warped. the
particles do their work quite well. the computer remembers my writing
while i forget. we're the consumers of ourselves. the beaver knows how
to make a dam house without having learnt it. the autist has sexual
desires never conditioned by culture. we are welcomed. who asked you
to take control of your person? of who you are? the adventure of
naming. let's be honest, isn't language only silly names all in a
mess? the vulcans are still alive. behind it all are mathematics and
statistics, how come such fine friends produce such horrors? we're in
the middle of top bottom up down strange charm - ducstb duckstab -
quack! in the middle there's a calm, what else would be in the middle?
the middle. where do you go from the middle? things are done with
language. does that mean that things are no longer done by doing?
those dances are supposed to make you capable of doing. make you
capable of doing? i think that was up and down the mountain again,
sisyfos thing. now sisyfos with that strange name, what can be said
about him. that's when language does things. it does it too well.
there's the peak also, that's when one thing has exactly one name.
that's god. let's imagine there was a strict rule that any thing must
have several names in order to keep god's name sacred. well, that's
not different from -. we live in the richness of things, what can we
expect. don't expect something to descend without messing itself and
you up. n-1 sort of.

end of lecture , any questions?

Huge star explodes in brightest supernova yet seen
Wednesday, 240 million light years ago

ref:

ROCKSTAR: An artist's illustration shows a supernova (top), designated
as SN 2006gy, which occurred 240 million light years away in a galaxy
called NGC 1260SN. A gargantuan explosion ripped apart a star perhaps
150 times more massive than our sun in a relatively nearby galaxy in
the most powerful and brightest supernova ever observed, astronomers
said. The bottom left panel is an infrared image, using adaptive
optics at the Lick Observatory, of NGC 1260, the galaxy containing SN
2006gy. The panel to the right shows Chandra's X-ray image of the same
field of view, again showing the nucleus of NGC 1260 and SN 2006gy.
WASHINGTON: A gargantuan explosion ripped apart a star perhaps 150
times more massive than our sun in a relatively nearby galaxy in the
most powerful and brightest supernova ever observed, astronomers have
said.

And there is one such star in our own Milky Way galaxy that appears to
be on the brink of dying in just such a supernova.

The exploding star's dramatic death may have come in a rare type of
supernova reserved for freakishly massive stars that astronomers had
speculated about but never previously witnessed.

The supernova, designated as SN 2006gy, occurred 240 million light
years away in a galaxy called NGC 1260, and was studied using
observations from NASA's orbiting Chandra X-ray Observatory as well as
earthbound optical telescopes.

The explosion occurred long ago but was detected last year after its
light traveled many, many trillions of miles (km) before it could be
observed from Earth.

That sounds far away but it's actually quite nearby on the vast scale
of the universe, astronomer Nathan Smith of the University of
California at Berkeley, who led the research, told a news conference.

The supernova was discovered in September 2006, and stands as far and
away the most powerful and brightest ever observed, Smith said.

In fact, even after the better part of a year, well after 200 days,
it has faded somewhat but it's still about as bright as a normal
supernova at its peak, Smith said.

A supernova marks a star's death in a spectacular explosion.
Scientists say these events play a crucial role in creating heavy
elements through nuclear fusion and synthesis and then expelling them
into space, seeding the cosmos with metals.

The scientists ruled out a possible alternative explanation that what
they were witnessing was the explosion of a white dwarf star with a
mass only a bit more than the sun.

OBLITERATED CORE

Astrophysicist Mario Livio said the supernova may have resulted from a
type of explosion mechanism that had existed only in theoretical
calculations. He said the first generation of stars in the universe
may have died in such a manner.

In a normal supernova, the core of a star collapses when it exhausts
its fuel, and forms either a neutron star or a black hole, with scant
heavy elements blown into space.

But this supernova appears to be the result of the core not collapsing
but being obliterated in an explosion blasting all its material into
space, the scientists said.

Dave Pooley of the University of California at Berkeley said this star
appears similar to Eta Carinae, a star perhaps 100 to 120 times the
mass of the sun located 7,500 light years away within the Milky Way.
There has not been a supernova in our galaxy in more than 400 years,
Pooley said.

A light year is about 6 trillion miles, the distance light travels in a year.

If Eta Carinae were to burst into a supernova, Pooley said, It would
be so bright that you would see it during the day, and you could even
read a book by its light at night.

Livio said Eta Carinae had an incredible eruption during the 19th
century that left it in an hourglass shape. He said it could explode
at any time.

This could happen tomorrow, it could happen 1,000 years from now,
Livio said. Is there a risk to life on Earth as a result of this
explosion? Well, not very likely.

Livio said Earth could be affected if there were a gamma ray burst
that potentially could harm the atmosphere and life, but the chances
of this aiming directly at Earth are slim.

2007-05-02 Thread Bjørn Magnhildøen

Hi -

i will hold an online chyphertext/noisetext performance tomorrow evening.

Date:
Thursday, 3 of May, 20:00 - 21:30 (central european summertime)*
Places:
web: http://noemata.anart.no/cp/
 mails: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/noisetext/

You might subscribe to the noisetext list for the occation to receive
performance mails. thanks to noisetext list admin phaneronoemikon/lanny.

Haphazard description of the performance:
it's a c(h)yp(h)ertext performance betatesting, in a series of protocol
performances dealing with networked online events.
in addition to a text and code feed, there's images, sounds, and even
a webcam; and text interaction, and mails.

the images are rather randomly chosen among jpgs less than 750 bytes in size.
the sound is realtime generated midi from the textfeed
the webcam updates every five sec or so
the interaction are textbased, you can input text in the form to the
right, longer or shorter one-liners - these inputs goes into the feed
and from there into the sound output also.
mails are sent out as part of the event

what more, the ensemble thing i keep for myself at this point, i don't
want you people to screw it up completely, though you might be able to
do it still - it's ok.
if the thing hangs, halts or hucks up, try to reload the page or
restart the browser.
any report or comment appreciated.

thanks!

originally the idea was to tag two and two images with relational
adjectives as a way of public curating a collection of abstract
images, based on the idea that properties arise out of relations -
system theory somewhat. finally i went for this almost short-circuited
version of curating the adjectives themselves... maybe as curator art
- an autopoiesis

hi all
i just had to say - i bloody love this
as a curator, this actually is way better than any overly verbose bullshit
lecture, it tells me loads about my hidden agendas (if any as a curator) it
gets the nits to pick out our falsity or pretentions and actually makes total
sense to me.
Sorry for the outburst... just had to say, thanks for it. It's given me some
more verve to continue on track that I am struggling to stay on. getting a
little tired of dealing with the public needs as opposed to the needs of the
academy. blah blah blah...

Re: [NetBehaviour] public curating common adjectives

2007-04-10 Thread Bjørn Magnhildøen

thanks for the reference, i find it interesting, dimensions of
concepts, factorization to the point we don't know if it's in the
folk's or researcher's head, rather both, which means there's some
autopoiesis, self-constituation going on, we have to grab it
somewhere. in a way their importance is reversed from traditionally
primary, secondary, tertiary qualities, in short, the lesser the
ontological importance the more the phenomenological? which would be
like the perspective. another thing that strikes is they're all
kinetical, which goes to say the distinction is between things and
their animation (given soul to maybe, meaning). well, particles are
also waves; waves are particles by statistics.

This reminds me of Osgood's semantic differential in which he had folks rate
the similarities of various meanings/words and using a statistical
procedure (factor analysis) came up with three independent semantic
dimensions that accounted for the majority of the variance -- good/bad,
strong/weak and fast/slow. His work has been repeated many times with
similar results. Maybe something akin to the universal semantic dimensions
of human experience you may have had in mind. Maybe not --

it appears quarks are not free
they are always glued
first of all they are only hypothetical
poor things
why didn't christianity or something pick that up
the poor hypothetical
i've had it

animals are good phenomenologists
the best the beast
since they don't know of death presumably
but since we know we're poor phenom.
sure it should be the other way around
a lot of things should
idiots are born while wise men die, an idiot said to a wise man, said
a wise man to an idiot

well now for the proof
you've been patient for long
proof of reality no less
when we die the world continues to exist
how cruel
also when the world is gone you too are
true
what does this say to you?
well i figured my world was a kind of mix of projections, filters, a
big mess of subject and object, but now it appears no
slow down, we haven't reached that conclusion yet
maybe this is like blood coloring water
fine fine, you're blood, the world is water
without water life wouldn't evolve here
then the water turns into some blood
then the blood leaks into the water again
so you say it's a big mess, everything is stained
also this is like this allegory
it's very limited and serve some simple purpose then game over
most things
what you can't throw out you have to i don't know what
now were where we, meaning here we are
since the world is independent of me
and i am dependent on the world
that's a pretty clear relation
so, in the same way, it's not that the wetness interacts with the rain
the rain doesn't care about the state of the wetness
i think that's part of our illusion, as the superior beings of the world
the superman, which is inherent in language
language is so to say a super-man
once something is stated it attains some superior state of being
like being
this is not very motivational
motives are of course part of the superman adventures
ok what's in the bottom here? a happy baby?
is there always a bottom that speaks?
without trembling
i wish an earthquake would destroy
now i'm lost
well this is about being lost i guess
any interaction with the world has some illusional part
the illusion doesn't reside with the world, neither with the subject
so then it's in the interaction
how can we interact without illusion?
sure
i think the cells have an illusion about living forever
think i read somewhere that the cell actually could
so then the cell is right in assuming
but the organ and higher body system maybe messes it up for the cell
and the cell go under with it
maybe, or the body tells a story to the cell
who knows, how strange all things are
if you don't think it's strange, well maybe you should
strange topbottom
updown charm
As the universe expanded and cooled, some of these quarks may have
been frozen out. To what extent independent free quarks could survive
is an unresolved issue of elementary particle physics.
what should we think about this?
still when my feet are cold i put on extra socks?
when i want to move one finger it actually moves
can animals do that?
all is lost for us
even if we should build another world in a safe area of the universe
how come i still write?
breathing is semi-automatic
the two worlds
breathing is interacting
basically oxygen is a poison
it means humans live by poison
and pay by aging
the cell might have done better
well oxygen was there so why not
birds are singing
immediate joy
no, i want joy later, let's say tomorrow at 3
i want it yesterday
can we do that?
well how much can we do
the sleep of reason or the reason of sleep
on the one side everything is simple
on the other everything is a mess
and the bridge between is full of
it's not so much a bridge as a knife
there you go

(that was a nice ending, so i'll write the rest down here not to
disturb the sleep of the end
the bridge and the knife are the same
and-or operations
and then logic doesn't have time
it has implications though
but which transforms into and-or-negations
and even less)

Dearest One comma

since everything follows after everything else comma as in a sequence
of later and former My full stop late father sentence was a highly
reputable busnness magnet-(a cocoa merchant) that operated in the

that you passed away mysteriously in France during your reading of the

Though the sudden death of the sentence was linked or rather suspected
to have been masterminded by my uncle of mind who travelled with him
at that text. But God knows the truth!

Before the sudden death on 21TH Janus of expression the former

Monty Hall paradox; it is a veridical paradox in the sense that the
solution is counterintuitive.

the more the better the more the better the more

survival of the qualities?

the sun fades in colors

in what direction is your art moving at this point in time?
first of all i don't think points have directions
, unless you propose a fanzy superstring theory or similar
could you rephrase?

what are you doing at the moment?
i'm into social networking, or wireless uh embedded, i like embedding,
do a lot of things while embedded, and society, society and social,
network, i have a computer but to get the internet working here isn't
easy. i think the interesting part of this is that trouble continues,
that's the meaning of work so to say

in what way is your work interesting to others?
everything costs money

why do you say that?
i don't know, let's see -
because it's free, well you're paying the telephone companies then
they are my art institutions
and i have free server services served by other digital art institutions
i like to do interesting things

what is interesting to you now?
to get some kind of internet connection, that interests me
my art is rejected by the telephone art institutions
(pop music in the background, a draft through the livingroom, noise from
the street)
i have electricity
oh what do i have? when i sleep i don't even have my body, but that's
wrong
i think everything is wrong
that's interesting to me

can you expand on that?
expansion is a long wrong, a continued deviation, the more i expand the
more wrong i am
right things are simple, not worth mentioning, and not interesting to
others
it's like books on inner peace which you can buy in the noisy street
and that's how they sell it too

would you say this is the core of your activity?
oh i know about cores, you might find them in the same shops
i'm not against commerce, but maybe i am, that would be a core indeed
pop music has a core, that's why it's repeated
repetition, i don't know why we want that

so what does this knowledge include?
i like the word knowledge though i don't approve of it
somehow i have to speak though

idea for a neworld new oldr

2007-03-28 Thread Bjørn Magnhildøen

rules for the separation of ideas and things, beliefs and practices

whatever you believe in you are not allowed to practice
whatever you practice you are not allowed to believe in

ideas are not to be realized in things
things are not to be idealized in ideas

you can practice something as long as you don't believe in it
you can believe in something as long as you don't practice it

this will rid us of hypocrisy by making it default

the two worlds

what about causality? the real and the possible? and language, and
self-understanding?

say you believe it's raining -
stop, is that a belief already?

let's define belief as something that is necessary to propose to be existent
you believe in something on the basis that you don't know
for example a belief in god is rather on the basis that he doesn't
exist than that he does. because if he existed it wouldn't be
necessary to believe in him. on the other hand, if he didn't exist it
would also surely be unnecessary to believe in him. ergo, it's
unnecessary to believe in him.
and beliefs in general might be of the same class
when you believe it's raining, isn't it already something you know,
and then already in the concept there's some hypocrisy, something that
is a firm basis in you comes out as an opinion, or a fact comes out as
a belief
also a cultural buffer, people necessarily disagree because they have
their own bodies
if you had my arm maybe not

drool not on the lord

2007-03-23 Thread Bjørn Magnhildøen

i'm sorry for the bad subject here.

one of the great mysteries in life is how it all remains the same. i
started the sentence with some expectations, but it ran out in the
sand. what if it could start as sand, as it does with the particles,
and run out into a great mystery. that would be something for a start.
a meaning of the first sentence was how things are made up of waves.
it's incredible. and how they remain, from moment to moment. in the
after life it will be the opposite semicolon nothing remains though
everything is particular full stop. how can that be? well, for living
humans, we are free but don't realize our freedom. for the dead,
they're even free from their freedom and its a realization per se
semicolon the dead is dead to the dead comma something like that full
stop. in the next paragraph i will discuss how this affect
affectation.

here we are. if you gesticulate a lot i believe many people get
irritated at you. try to keep your arms off the coffee table just in
case. some emotions may require gestures though mind you. even
sleeping has its postures. let's say you're lost in the woods, what
would you do? i'm sure there's a trick answer to that. like you could
reverse the signs or similar. can we by the way reverse the stream in
our thinking? it seems to be a one way track, like a sentence. this is
all output. which is scary. why is it scary? if you continue reading
the next paragraph we will look into it. stay with us.

Please go to eBay and YouTube

Now, are we still scared? Should we be? We'll continue in a moment.

Do you have things to sell? Visit babyland.com

So, there we are. Upload your stuff here. you can figure out what's an
ad with the uppercase. Which means it can continue. It is accepted.
The distinction solidifies. I wonder if that's the answer to today's
mystery. Which was, to remind you, how waves remain things from moment
to moment. So instead of looking for fundamental elements or states,
maybe a mathematical distinction. I don't know what I'm saying. Say,
if you're lost in the woods, how did you get lost in the first place?
If you knew that you wouldn't be lost. Hey, that's wrong, because of
entropy. For each step the landscape changes and becomes more chaotic.
So get Windows Vista and things will improve.

we were talking about scare, or to be more precise, what a repugnant
expression, what a silly word, even more, how scared we were. and of
what? as far as i remember it was about, well this is even more scary
that i don't remember. it's early because i couldn't sleep. coffee
will solve it. you will read if it means something to you. salk
wetouapt zpxovawpoeiv awpeoiu oaiwe ceioaw ef only to a certain
extent. like eating. if it's true that the universe expands, that must
be a real put off for capitalists. that's like a flat worm suddenly
realizing the third world, i mean the third dimension. 'wow, just fuck
it'. in that sense capitalism needs its puritanian beliefs. and i need
mine for being good for nothing. i might be good for something but who
cares. words, solidifying distinctions. imagine someone balancing a
ball on his nose, while skating. to keep the ball in its place. still
its hard to believe that for matter. on the other hand a ball will
float in the sea just like that. why don't you have the sea balancing
the words? you see the sea cares for everything and nothing. the waves
distinguishes not. does it distinguish not? all that is not is not. i
don't know where the negative comes in. that's embarrassing. still
people need to know where you belong. where the start was. because we
don't know the end. so if we can get the start then at least we have
one end of the thread. the dog barks in the morning. would you say
that's a negative? he's maybe keeping something out, and in. we're
reaching seven hour. the lesson is over. something is over. if you
move towards abstraction it ridicules the form.

WYSIWYB Ars Publica -
What You See Is What You Bought
Net Art Sale Exhibition : Commerce of Pure Reason

By entering the site below you agree to our term of condition that
what you browse you have already bought.

This approach is a consequence of the contradictions in selling
internet art generally, and specifically for this exhibition where the
net art is copylefted and in the public domain.

Elaborating on the fact that the digital object on sale must be
physically on your computer prior to being browsed for sale, brings on
the idea of a commerce of pure reason, or of meaning itself, as a
representation of an experience of a meaning based system through its
own self-referential process, and so a projection of one's experience
onto oneself. On the other hand the ding an sich must have an infinite
value because we don't know the price.

More than buying things we need, we need things to buy. Which is more
like that the things buy us than otherwise. The consumer is more
likely consumed. The presence is rather a preterite, like the action
of buying automatically is turned into a passion of browsing, or a
passion of buying equates the action of browsing.

WYSIWYB Ars Publica collaborates with Noemata Ad Undas serving public
domain net art.
Noemata currently celebrates 25 years as a work-in-progress of analog
and digital net art (1982-2007).

Happy browsing - and remember to pay for what you buy, or buy what you pay for!

trash pickup

2007-02-25 Thread Bjørn Magnhildøen

first one in a triptyc of recycl

commodity - trash - art - commodity ...
trash - treasure - treshold
there's a fourth also but it's not there

here you just trash your stuff, and you can help recycle before the
stuff is picked up and turned into art. because once it's art it's
hard to get rid of.

the illusion of recycling when the trash is outsourced to china and
produces more waste than was coming in. entropy. this is like the
perpetuum mobile idea. if things are recycled things will go around
and all is wheel and well.

preliminar kuratorial statement: boy, i don't know what to say -

once things are art they will be displayed bluntly as things as art
for their appearance.

another aspect is the public service. once it's trashed it's returned
to the public domain, nature and culture, actually culture, as nature.
there's a secret culture, well i guess it has to have its secrets to
be a culture, a book title 'cultural secrets' will sell well. a nuance
is not a secret. i realize this is hypertext as it only follows
itself. if somebody stuffs it, it's at least free. so then, it's
public domain net art, as before.

next stage, to come, is the transformation from art to thing, once
something is art and is returned to a state of ordinary object. yeah
you see that's not so easy, it will still have a smell of art.

the fourth state which isn't there is the so called thing in itself.
which i think i refuted in an earlier post about schopenhauer. it was
refuted very easy, now i don't remember but you can look it up.

the start of this project was rather idealistic, i wanted to land the
people who searched for 'trash pickup' onto a page and serve them ads.
that might work, i don't know yet. the money i get from ads will be
part of the ars publica project which is getting money from net art,
so far ars publica got 6,250 euro in funding, and throughout 2007
maybe 3,600 dollars in ads. i'm working on my pension.

that's all for now, we'll be back later with the other two.

-

Alan Kaprow talk
Astrup-Fearnley Museum, Sun 17.02.02.
A very down-to-earth exposition from the founder of happening.
Just some mental notes: This is a problem ... why should I come here
to talk about art? ... Because he was a friend ... In the beginning my
problem was that I liked art things but at the same time couldn't care
less ... So I started doing environments and happenings as they came
to be known ... It was a difficult time, I lost many artist friends
because of it ... Installation and performance is something completely
different from environments and happenings - the former two being
artist centered and within the usual art context, while the latter two
isn't about art at all ... It took me 20-30 years to free myself from
art ... If people ask me about art I run away - goodbye, goodbye ...
People have these, like, bubbles around them, sometimes they are
small, like when there's some intimacy and personal contact between
people, and sometimes big, like when aggressive, maybe hostile ... at
the workshop the students practiced this approaching each other while
keeping eyecontact ... What I tell them is - to be stupid ... In the
society we're supposed to be smart ... Stupidity can be nice ... Play
around with culture ... Like the rules for handshaking ... I found
that the rule was shaking 1.5 times ... Try to pump 3-5 times and
you'll see strange things happen ... I've practiced pumping up to 20

Sheila,
thanks for your nice comment.
sure we all want to 'be someone' in a positive sense.. though very
quickly turns into its mocking, just as sure, and we become the
prisoner of ourself. yes,. you see i can be very banal... if you write
to yourself the 'being someone' isn't necessary, but again, one writes
to be read to some degree, so maybe another fooling, so then, the base
can be understanding or communication maybe, though i'm sure the
border is fuzzy all the way...

thanks again,
Bjørn

I've practiced pumping up to 20
times ... Art student worry, I tell him to be stupid ... Can art
change society? I quote John Cage: How to improve the world: you will

If you can keep the wheel heavier on one side as it rotates, then it
will continue rotating forever.

The dog eating its tail principle, can be looked upon as the dog
throwing up itself principle.

a good name for a band would be AEROSM, that would be really good i can imagine

i think we should encourage people
otherwise they would have no motivation
self-motivation, i don't think that works
mainly because self is only interested in itself (of course)
and because motivation is somewhat external to it
which means to have self-motivation work, first you have to make the
self interested in something else than itself, which is actually the
self-motivation, or self-self-motivation, which i think is the same -
what's the difference between a dog-leash and a dog-dog-leash? well
that's interesting, if two dogs are leashed together with a
dog-dog-leash, would they behave as if they both only were
dog-leashed? self panopticon, a building, as a prison, hospital,
library, or the like, so arranged that all parts of the interior are
visible from a single point --- so the self-motivation first of all
needs self-motivation, it's like trying to boot windows from a cd on a
cloudy day - and secondly, once self-motivation has gotten
self-motivation, which might mean all together gotten rid of it, then
it can continue and fill with some external - but how the self should
care about that, i don't know --- this doesn't seem to lead anywhere
now that's where ecouragement comes in, even flattery, the worse the
better, it's like kids

false memories

this must have been primary school, because i was walking the
short-cut path home, i figured if i had a free will i could beat
destiny, because i could do whatever i want at any point, and if i
could just make one step out the whole chain of destiny would break,
so then i would do some funny steps to break out - also taking other
routes home just too break the pattern. the decicsion seemed to be
crucial, since the decision itself could be destiny and not free will,
so i tried to beat my decisions, how to do that, yes, you make a
decision and then don't follow it - maybe something like
psychogeography - i would decide to go a specific route and then
change the route at random at each point. the result of all this is
that today i have no destiny, only will.

that 105 base 8 equals 69 in decimal, and 69 base 16 equals 105 in
decimal.
0815 (named after the repetitive and boring MG 08/15-training) is used
in German as either a random number or to reflect something
mainstream, normal or boring.
48879 is commonly used as a hexadecimal number where it is represented
as BEEF. It often follows 57005 to form the hexadecimal phrase DEAD
BEEF.
49374 is commonly used as a hexadecimal number where it is represented
as C0DE. It often follows 57005 to form the hexadecimal phrase DEAD
C0DE; together these numbers are used in places to indicate source
code that no longer works or is no longer used.
12648430 is commonly used as a hexadecimal number where it is
represented as C0FFEE.

i guess the main problem with learning, memory, knowledge is
one-directed relations
you're at A and have a problem, then you solve it somehow and get to
B, all is well
so what's the relation we learn? that 'A leads to B'? no, it's rather
that 'B comes from A', which is different. we confuse 'if A then B'
with 'if B then A'.
if the fish dies then i will die. if i die then the fish will die.
i don't know about that. it's possible the mind doesn't care about
directions, AB=BA. surely, that must be wrong.
anyway, if i'm in A again with some problem i still haven't learned
how to get to B, the only thing i learn is that when i am in B i came
from A because that's what i stored by some logical mistake. it's
common and maybe hardcoded - if it rains it gets wet; it is wet so it
has rained (which is the error)
i don't know how to fix this. what we have is always B and it's too
late. it's a scientific problem. when i was five or something i wanted
to check the hypothesis that the heart stopped beating at night, based
on the idea that sleep was a kind of death. i didn't realize that to
check the heartbeat i already had to be awake. we also have to learn
that something is impossible.
how did i get here? the heart can't understand it. maybe call it
passive logic. if you are somewhere you came from somewhere. head
logic is that you're going somewhere. the AB confusion is that going
is stored as coming, which is true in a relative way, but useless. i
come from A, well that won't help you. it's like a child lost in the
streets. maybe 'B comes from A' turning into 'A leads to B' is
learning. how can it 'turn into' literally? maybe just a loop A - B
- A, if you go B-A enough times you will have to go A-B also, we
learn by our mistakes so to say, as a rule.

random memory..
Obviously every record is an object. But under which conditions does
an object qualify
as a record?A signature can be the record of the agreement on a
commercial transaction.
A single small dot of ink is not a record, because it could have
appeared by mistake,for
example by an accidental blot.In contrast,it is improbable that ink
should fall on paper
exactly in the shape of a signature.(e simple signatures of physicians
are obviously
exceptions.)Simply speaking,a record is any object, which,in order to
be copied,has
to be forged.More precisely,a record is an object or a situation that
cannot arise nor
disappear by mistake or by chance. Our personal memories,be they images
or voices,
have the same property;we can usually trust them, because they are so
detailed that they
cannot have arisen by chance or by uncontrolled processes in our brain.
Can we estimate the probability for a record to appear or disappear by
chance?Yes,we
can.Every record is made of a characteristic number N of small
entities,for example the
number of the possible ink dots on paper, the number of iron crystals
in a cassette tape,
the electrons in a bit of computer memory, the silver iodide grains in
a photographic
negative, etc.e chance disturbances in any memory are due to internal uctuations,
also called noise .Noise makes the record unreadable;it can be dirt on
a signature,thermal
magnetization changes in iron crystals, electromagnetic noise inside a
solid state memory,
etc.Noise is found in all classi ers, since it is inherent in all
interactions and thus in all
information processing.
It is a general property that internal uctuations due to noise
decrease when the size,
i.e.the number of components of the record is increased. In fact, the
probability p mis for
a misreading or miswriting of a record changes as p mis N ,(464)
where N is the number of particles or subsystems used for storing
it.is relation appears
because, for large numbers, the so called normal distribution is a good
approximation of
almost any process;the width of the normal distribution, which
determines the probab
ility of record errors, grows less rapidly than its integral when the
number of entities is
increased.(Are you able to con rm this?)Challenge 1144 ny
We conclude that any good record must be made from a large number of entities.e
larger the number, the less sensitive the memory is to uctuations. Now,a
systemof large
size with small uctuations is called a (physical)bath .Only baths make
memories possible.
In other words, every record contains a bath.We conclude that any
observation of a system
is the interaction of that systemwith a bath.is connection will be
used several times in
the following,in particular in quantumtheory. When a record is produced
by a machine,
the 'observation 'is usually called a (generalized)measurement .Are
you able to specify the
bath in the case of a person looking at a landscape?Challenge 1145 n

how to evaluate appreciate art
why can't i write a text as a performance for instance
or software art as pseudocodeusp
because if you read a text it will take you maybe a couple of minutes
while a performance last maybe half an hour or an hour
and how long do you stare at a picture? interesting
so i think there's only two factors - time spent, intensity
how to account for intensity - i guess there are statistics, reports
text has a low intensity, call it a reflexive intensity
while a ecstatic virtual reality
though this varies between people, again some mean
we have to multiply the time with the intensity because it's another dimension
let's say we could add the time people spend on a painting together
and all the intensity
and put it all into a big blue ball that people could jump up and down on
how many preposition can we have at the same time? depends on where you are
what would you say the preposition of an electron?
you are somewhere and you are doing something and you are going somewhere
the doing, there the catch
what if something moved through all dimensions at once
where did you find this clown?

Thanks,
that's interesting of course, what remains, sort of paradoxical,
negativity of, while the while is worthwhile while, kind of
interesting what is interesting, aspects of interest - newness,
direct, realtime, the force of time, time as intensity, i had some
more thoughts (!), but they need to be written while i have them
otherwise they don't seem interesting..

scary, and outside is dark. someone should say 'if you can prove a
memory it's probably false'. i'm thinking of a project where one can
write histories about things, storyup, as other aspects of things
they're changeable. what makes us hold on to our memory? draw a line.
the truth of something have to have happened, can the truth not have
happened? creates a lot of stability. what if there was no crisis,
energy is abundant, we're probably made to suffer from a speck of
dust, the positive will haunt us, tracing lines, all in all nothing
happened, the woman was not sawed in two - cause and effect

of course great writing below - in terms of performance, James Lee Byars,
for example, did performances that lasted at times less than a second -
and I still remember them.

Re: What does logotomy mean? AND... what about Jutert?

2006-12-20 Thread Bjørn Magnhildøen

it's supposed to be 'justert' (norwegian), it's like 'jut' or 'adjuted' - an
adjustment that turns out to be a mutation, much like microsoft products'
incompatibilities - incompactibility - incompatrehendsibilities - this
morning with talked about tenses, the part particle, and the gerund,
grounding, and with all these modalities you could make whatever time you
like, and the composites jut add, in the same sense you say there are -
there - are - oh i like to say that - there are and seems to be - infinite
sentences, also in the structure thereare infinite modalitites, tenses, and
infinite words

do{thisfora}while(1)

What I want, similarly, to know is... What does Jutert mean?

if you're on any windows you can run this 16 bytes of code to produce
some mesmerizing stuff on your monitor. if you have a hex editor save
these bytes as a .com file and run it. ref:

anyway, just amazed by the simplicity here

if you lie in bed (or on the sofa, actually, do whatever you want to
do) and have some self-consciousness, it probably implies - now i'm
gonna cut my nails, really, this writing is getting awkward like that
word - implies some kind of projection, and what is that self-image?
somehow it's in space and then have its limitation - top bottom, left
right, and so on. so what is the appropriate external projection? well
the mirror, but it's opposite me, whatever i do is countered, maybe
we're annihilated in the mirror like particles. then, say a live cam,
not mirrored, is that the self-image? ok, another one to consider is
up-down not-mirrored, it's like you dive and are on the other side of
a sphere - if you wave your left hand the projection waves its left
but upside down. maybe that's the type of mirror we should have. say,
space had only one dimension, in-out, or is that two? actually just
one since it's irreversible, we're bound to project outwards. the
projection seems to have a certain view and so on. anyway, what a
silly post. it's a physical fact, more or less, that time and space
are projections of the continuum, the length of a shadow isn't so
substantial - what would be the time equivalent and why isn't that so
intuitive? anyway, why take it seriously as if there wereany substance
in this. what we mean by substance might be just a thing to similar
things - a one-dimensional spread again. content is. the content of a
sentence might be its meaning, but the meaning is exactly everywhere
else. it's like a printscreen image.

Re: Who has Wryting hooked up to Blogger, and Why do we get the Error mails?

2006-12-07 Thread Bjørn Magnhildøen

sht, might be my problem, ggrr sorry if that's the case, i didn't
realize until now, maybe a year ago i experimented with the blogger
mail-to function with a feed from wryting, well i quickly took it
down, but maybe it's still been in their system - and why it should
pop up know i don't know, maybe bloggers transition to beta-blogger
has caused the mail-to thing to reappear, am afraid so by looking in
the error response -
unable to deliver to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
so what i guess is the problem is that [EMAIL PROTECTED]
(not beta.blogger.com, which might be the system transition problem)
is subscribed to the list, so then the solution is to unsub this
address
in case this comes from my fiddling, who know, i'm cabbable of blunders galor...

GLOSS ON THE NINTH ELEGY
of RAINER-MARIA RILKE
by Anthony Weir

http://www.beyond-the-pale.co.uk/

My invisible, other true friend, Brother Zoti Lamort,
unknowable, ever-present, everywhere
like a vast four-dimensional carpet,
asks me silently why I have to be human,
why I, shunning destiny, laden down
with my great gift of sorrow, have to be ?
Not because there is a possibility
of happiness! No, the idea of personal
happiness (and the hunter's pursuit) is the most
vain, destructive and self-destroying of concepts
strangling Earth and us with false urgency.
Not that I feel a duty to life the dictatorship, cosmic
catastrophe. Here in my chamber of raw
understanding, wrestling the language of
unutterability, I feel only too-muchness of being
and being one of millions too many.
I'm always wanting to leave both the state
and the chamber - and I'm rooted by both.
Not that we make ourselves happy by torturing
wiping out, exploiting, rounding up animals -
no, increasingly we - the endangering species -
herd and exploit each other, breed
young to disable in schools, denounce any sign
of spontaneous joy in each other.
No, we hate happiness,
seeing that, left to themselves, animals would be
happy all over the place without us, thus
showing us our soulless irrelevance.
No phenomenon here can possibly want us,
who confront everything with our words and our
swords and, far worse, hypocrisy -
every one of us the enemy of everything
- all creatures guiltless but us
in the power of our shamelessness.
And we just once, like lightning or meteor
striking all other dimensions, and each of us once,
but so many millions, mirror-struck, striking
down everything sane and appropriate.

Dogs know that we live noisy irrational lives,
full of patterns and habits and unthinkingness.
The weight of our being's so gross that we are
quite unaware of it - but the world is increasingly crushed
and squashed and dried up by us - like a prune
swarming with maggots - and we are here only to say:
Home, Tower, Power, Ambition and Threshold.

More than ever subtlety falls away, connection
with Life driven out and replaced by the whimpering
urgency of things and stupidly urging,
hammering images. Happiness! Love! Success!
Driving ourselves to achievement, there is no-one
to praise us but Advertising,
for God was appalled when alive. The Angels are all
bred for bacon and organs and sperm.
Praise the world to an Angel, and he squeals in the
agony produceable only by devils of language.
Refugee peoples and gypsies and children and
pædophiles are just a small part
of the tumult made by the Word.
I feel too much. I breathe in pain, and, novice, helplessly
immature, can only breathe suffering out, cannot
transmute it to anything like 'beatitude'.
Joy is only the briefest suppression of pain.
Writing cannot be serious when all human culture's
suppression of feeling in ruthless pursuit
of bizarre manifestations of the trivial,
just as religions are for the anti-spiritual
to justify their manufactured selves by,
and science is merely tearing wings off flies
to grow supremely grotesque on Buchenwald pigs.
Even my anguish is mere manufacture.
(Reading polemic or poetry is such a waste
of spirit and time, when all other creatures
- dolphin or mollusc - are poems
and cannot be other.)
Joy can only be given.
If a thing could be said to be happy
as slug or squirrel is happy,
that thing-happiness can be the only one possible
in world turned to slaughterhouse/smouldering rubbish-pit of Gehenna.
Nothing we do can be innocent,
for with the blind and backward maze of the mind
we turn everything wonderful terribly
into reflections of our terrible selves.
You my invisible friend, my desirable
Earth Spirit, Anti-angel,
you, beyond right or love or truth or happiness
were always right, always Perfect in your holiest
presence and insight.
And my dog, with his divine understanding
silently tells me each day that there is nothing
to understand for there is no - never was -
understanding - and no lie is big enough
ever to justify us.
In Siberia people once lived who knew seven genders
and never built megalith-cells for the dead
or dead

i did a phanorama image, now i don't remember what it was based on but
judging from the result, i don't know, it could be a lot of things, i
think it's the view from the ancient hercules tower, but then i see a
lot of sheeps, at the beach, looks like some kind of radar image,
ultrasound. well all these things are one, like when we sleep, the
panorama, see without moving your eyes, see/moving dddkkk

didnt work at all! Its pretty quirky.

i load in 10-15 meg images into mozilla regularly.
