Yes. It's USB Audio just like in 1.9.1. I checked that early on.

(I should have replied to this thread instead of the general rc3 thread)

For Mac Users:

I have installed MacOS Mojave on a spare drive and discovered a problem with
sound input.

Mac users with Mojave need to know that by default sound input is not
permitted. (Apple’s security gone over the top…)

Until RC4, to use FT8 do this:

1. Download RC3 and drag WSJT-X to the Desktop - NOT the application folder.
2.Open a Terminal window (Aplications > Utilities > Terminal) and then
type this and press the Return key:
   ~/Desktop/wsjtx.app/Contents/MacOS/wsjtx
  and wsjtx will launch.
3.Open System Preferences > Security & Privacy and select Privacy. In the
drop down list select Microphone and you should see a list of apps including
wsjtx.
Check the Allow box for wsjtx, then quit wsjtx and start again by
repeating the command line above.

You should be getting sound input and FT8 should be working.

HI John,

Hope all is well at your end.

I’ve just given WSJT-X_2.0.0-rc3 a try with my MacPro, OS 10.11.6 El Capitan
but I’m having trouble when the software tries to go into transmit
during a QSO. I get the following error,

Subprocess Error failed with exit code 2.

The details box shows the follow info,

Running: /Applications/wsjtx.app/Contents/MacOS/jt9 -s WSJT-X -w 1 -m 3 -e

As you can see it in some way traces back to some kind of Fortran runtime error?

Might also be worth noting that the TUNE button works as expected ie the right
happily goes in and out of Tx. The error only seems t arise
when I’m trying to transmit as part of a QSO with the ENABLE TX button pressed.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards,

Sean

PS. When you get a mo I wouldn’t mind having a conversation about compiling
WSJT-X for the Mac with the SDR kit enabled in HamLib. :)

Note that other users are running wsjtx on Mojave so I suspect that there is

2018-10-19 Thread Hisashi T Fujinaka

So no one else on the Mojave is having audio issues? Going back to 1.9.1
worked fine.

The odd part is that Mojave asked to use the Microphone (which it never
did with RC2 or 1.9.1).

I had RC2 and installed RC3 and it asked to use the microphone. No joy.

So I found a copy of 1.9.1, renamed it, and ran that. Worked fine.

I reinstalled (copied) RC3 from the dmg and it asked to use the
microphone again. Still no audio.

I went back to 1.9.1 and it asked to use the microphone there too.

I think Mojave is confused.

Hi Mike,

thanks for the report. I am surprised that there are any redirects on
that URL so I suspect there is a defect lurking. Maybe server busy
return codes are being misinterpreted as redirect return codes. Let's
see if others get the same issue.

Was it on the automatic first download of the file or did it happen when
you have used the settings button to force a fresh download?

2018-10-17 Thread Steven Franke via wsjt-devel
Hi John -

It looks like I forgot to comment out a debug print to fort.81. On the Mac, you
can get around this by running from within the application bundle. For example,
my install directory is ~/Builds/wsjtx/install, so I would do this to run wsjtx:

cd ~/Builds/wsjtx/install/wsjtx.app/Contents/MacOS
./wsjtx

Re: [wsjt-devel] Candidate release WSJT-X 2.0.0-rc3

2018-10-17 Thread charlie
Hi Joe

In your list of changes below Auto Log is noted as available for contests.
In the Quick Start Guide this limitation is not noted, as far as I can
see.

Just completed a few 77 bit QSOs with rc3 where I have selected Auto Log
and the manual prompt still appears.

Personal preference would be to have Auto Log available generally, with
perhaps a brief notification that QSO had been logged.

This is repeatable when I use FT8 mode. It appears near the end of the first

Re: [wsjt-devel] Candidate release WSJT-X 2.0.0-rc3

2018-10-17 Thread Black Michael via wsjt-devel
FYI...got an error about "too may redirects" on the lotw download on first run.
Still ran after that so definitely not fatal.
A 2nd startup didn't produce the error.  Deleted the lotw file and ran again
and did not get the error and the download was succesful.
So perhaps just a transient error.
